I'm home eating a turkey and swiss sandwich after trying to eat at Nori Bistro. The restaurant seems to have good service. I was promptly asked to be seated but I opted for the sushi bar. my order was quickly taken. The waitress came by several times asking if there was anything else I needed. Since it was my first time here, I started with only a few items. I ordered the Hamachi Sashimi and a spicy tuna roll. When the Sashimi came the first piece was small and as you progressed to the next piece they got smaller. The last piece looked more like a piece of scrap than something that I would put on a plate. the fish itself was reasonably fresh. it had good texture and smell. When the spicy tuna came out it had a nice appearance. the color was a deep red. After biting into the roll, I had to chew and chew go get through the Nori. I finally stripped the rice and tuna off because the Nori was like chewing a piece of gum. The spicy tuna itself lacked flavor. If you are happy with Buffett style Sushi this place is fine. If you are looking for a real sushi experience I would not...
Read moreBusiness lunch with the friend that introduced me to sushi 3 decades ago. Spent plenty of time in Japan during the career that followed.
Nori Bistro is a fancy atmosphere, non-Japanse restaurant. Lots of fusion. Very little, if anything, authentic. Service was good. Food? Not so much and pretty pricey which is unacceptable given the reality:
Ordered Tai. Got Snapper. Same Genus, not Species. A Yak and a Cow are in same Genus, clearly not the same animal nor meat to eat.
Ordered Toro. Appeared to be Blue Fin a different species of Tuna and much less expensive fish.
The Sino-American California Roll appeared to use imitation crabmeat. Did not even get this recipe right. Yet, they are consistent....not the real thing and a cheaper, lower grade than it should be.
A real Japanese restaurant would not entertain such practices. A Japanese owner would not as such practices lacks honor and would disgrace the family. No surprise that I've...
Read moreThis place is pretty amazing, except for the food and price. Service and ambience was spectacular. Staff was top notch. We came here for some sushi for lunch because a picture on Google here said prices last year for lunch was $12. Which is a pretty good deal. When we came prices on the lunch menu were $20. Lunch comes with soup and salad. The salad dressing is amazing! But it does taste a bit too much like thousand island dressing mixed with a bit more onions. Miso soup was very watered down and not flavorful. The rolls for lunch did not have much fish and was not too tasty. In addition to the rolls we also ordered nigiri and another non-lunch special roll. Overall, the flavor profile seems to cater towards those who are new to eating sushi. If this is you, I whole heartedly recommend this...
