Every time I leave Nori Nori, I think about what I'm going to order next time!
The atmosphere - The restaurant space is very clean with ambience lights around the entire restaurant. I'm always greeted with a warm smile by the staff. The moon design on the wall across from the bar is fun to look at. The chairs are very comfortable. The restroom is also spotless with great quality toilet paper. You'll see all sorts of people here: couples for a date night, family outing, someone that just wants to fill their cravings, or here for simply some drinks. Overall, I'd describe the atmosphere as calming yet lively.
The service - David (one of the owners), Chef Cong, and all staff are incredibly approachable and kind. Chef Cong exudes passion for serving fantastic food. David, despite being unbelievably busy, takes the time to chat and joke with his guests in between taking care of things around the restaurant. The staff all take very good care of the guests. Also, shoutout to Kat (bartender) for always being attentive and skillful!
The food - I've ordered the uni pasta. I'm so happy that this is no longer a secret item and is officially on the menu. The chef shaved the truffles table side. The presentation was beautiful. The portion size was honestly generous (photo was taken at a slightly wider angle, so the portion is slightly bigger than what it seems in the picture). The ingredients were fresh. The uni absolutely melted in my mouth. I've heard only great "MMMM"s from friends that ordered hand rolls. The grilled bone marrow tartare was also perfect. They also have quite a few items that combine uni, caviar, toro, and gold flakes altogether. You will feel like royalty when indulging on your cravings.
The drinks - The drink menu is impressive, especially the cocktails and mocktails. I was pleasantly surprised. Every drink was made with intricate decors that further enhance the taste. The alcoholic drinks are decently strong. Of course, they are a full bar. You will find the perfect drink that you're looking for.
Parking could be challenging when it gets busy at the complex. I parked closer to the H-mart and walked over the first time that I visited. They're also incorporating more and more events such as lion dance and DJ's.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for anyone that is looking for a fun night out or incredible Japanese...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I dined in last week during a not-so-busy time, and I just have to say that everything was absolutely perfect. The food was beyond our expectations.
For starters, we ordered the lamp chop lollipops and bone marrow tartare. Lamp chops were amazingly seasoned, and to the perfect rarity. The bone marrow was nicely salted, topped with some Wagyu beef tartare and served with some bread on the side. Best starters we could have asked for.
I've only ever had handrolls from places like Kura, Iya Wa, and Hokkaido, so color me surprised when we saw the sushi taco that was presented to us. Definitely different from anything we've seen, but my lord, was it amazing. We each ordered a lobster handroll, uni handroll and the king salmon handroll. The lobster was nice and fresh The meat was so tender and sweet. It almost felt like they just caught the lobster. The uni handroll was pure butter. The way it just melted in my mouth, I felt myself melting away with it. King salmon was also nice and rich and buttery as well. Everything was so good, I nearly stole my girlfriend's rolls too 🤤
The service was fantastic. Everyone was so nice and attentive. Even the head chef was interacting with everyone. He poured us some of his special sake as well. A nice drink with some amazing food.
The atmosphere was very homey. From the decor and seatings to the people. I felt safe.
Overall, the whole experience was phenomenal. Our new go-to higher-end restaurant. For it to be in THE Chinatown too?? Can't wait to be back!
Also, I just wanna point out this review I just saw about the poster's ex or whatever. You must be very hurt or toxic to be making a review about your ex. Move on. I'm sure your ex did. And also, "sushi is too hot to handle"? Really? Sushi is...
Read moreI went to NoriNori quite late and got bar seat. Overall, super chill and incredibly friendly and nice staff. It's on the very casual side of more upscale sushi place, so not River Oaks or Heights type of upscale. I love the staff here genuinely they are great and very attentive. Overall the rolls are great! The nori is crispy, if you sit at the bar they would hand you the rolls right away without plastic wrap so everything is fresh. The fish in the handrolls is good, fresh and all, good quality and rich. I actually quite like the Hamachi roll, I think the sweet green apple works well as a flavor combination though i can see lots don't agree. I did add wasabi into the rolls and I think it balances the flavor greatly. My favourites are Madai, Hamachi and Toro, followed by the Spicy Tuna, with the Madai being the best one - very nuanced and balanced combination, super refreshing. The rolls looked great, I think some of the spicy sauces are a little too much (not spicy, but not prioritizing the flavor of the proteins). Their nigiris are great through out, I got a set of the nigiri box, and everything hit! I do think overall all the white fish here is notably better than the fattier one, with the Kinmedai & Hirame/Madai (I forgot which one) being pretty damn good and buttery, as well as the scallop. I think dishes where they go with more refreshing flavor profiles definitely shone the most! Overall, probably top-tier for Bellaire and I would comeback for the nigiris and a few rolls. Incredible incredible staff and I had a great time! Pricing is ok, the nigiris are very good bang...
