I've heard rave reviews from people all over the world that I need to check out Pappasito's when I'm in Houston Texas. With such raving feedback, this was one of my #1 priority place to visit when my colleague arrived from Italy. This Pappasito's we've visited is located next to a hotel, and the decor inside is somewhat fancier for a Mexican restaurant. Given that this is a 1-star review, obviously the food was disappointing. Definitely the most disappointing Mexican food I've ever had. The prices are absurdly expensive: Chicken Fajitas for $27, Chicken Quesadillas for around $16 but the size of one small-shell taco from Taco Bell, and the Salmon-Mango salad was outrageously high too. The chicken was somewhat hard and dry: it tasted like Costco chicken that have been sitting out for an hour or two already. The guacamole was hard and was not well made as they were not mashed completely. The best thing they had was the free chips and salsa, but even the salsa was all watered down as each dip would drip onto my hands and almost through my front arm. All-in-all, our bill was over $70 for these 3 things we've ordered. The food tasted mediocre at best, and the portion-size did not justify the price. Definitely did not meet the definition of Texas of everything big. I'm sure there are much better and local Mexican fares around Houston that you should try and support. You're better off going to a proper wine-and-dine type of place if you're going to pay these outrageous prices for food that does not even compare to Chipotle.

Disappointed in two specific areas. First, I ordered the “Peachy Sangria” that was promoted on the table advertisement. When I received it the glass was half-empty (half-full if you’re an optimist). You can see in the image shared this is EXACTLY what I received. I brought it to the attention of my waiter who sent the manager over. The manager defended it, explaining that it is a “measured pour”. Meaning that the alcohol in the drink is a precise measurement. They didn’t have a response for why the image in the promotion (see image) did not reflect the final product. Unfortunately, I have the impression that the practice of providing half empty/full drinks will continue. Second issue was with the unripe avocados used in their “unfinished guacamole”. I say unfinished because imo finished is when the entire process called for in the recipe is completed. All the ingredients are delivered to your table in a “pestle-less bowl”. Diced onions, cilantro, jalapeño, quarter lime, cotijo cheese(?), but NO PESTLE. I watched as everyone at our table of 14 struggled to mash the unripe avocado and mix the ingredients themselves. I mean, it’s avocado, you should be able to tell a ripe avocado from one that isn’t ready. That’s basic for this type of establishment

After having just arrived from out of town, my son and I were looking to get in a pre-game meal and some drinks before heading out to Minute Maid Park. The convenience of having the restaurant located in the hotel in which we were staying at was the determining factor of why we ate there. It was really busy but we were seated almost immediately. Big plus there. Chips & salsa were very tasty. Another big plus there. When our server finally did make her to us, she asked what we would like to drink. I told her that I would like an Estrella Jalisco(a brand of beer). She had no idea what that was, and even said that they didnt carry that brand. We had to show her that it was on the menu. She responded with an,"Oh. The bartenders should know what it is." She seemed very tired and disinterested in her work. She even admitted that fact to us. And it was because she was working a double shift. I appreciated her honesty on that matter. Food was delicious. Drinks were tasty. Restaurant itself was proficient. My only issue would be our server. I sympathize with her having to work a double shift. But when you end our time there with a somewhat jokingly, "You Astros fans need to get up on out of here already" request, that's not good, double shift or not.

I hope this message finds you well. My wife and I visited your Lamar Street location on December 26th, and I wanted to take a moment to share how truly extraordinary our experience was, thanks to your incredible staff. We had arrived at your restaurant after a frustrating experience earlier in the day. We had been scammed out of tickets for the 3:00 showing of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and while my wife was trying to resolve the issue with Ticketmaster, I thought we could at least enjoy a drink and try to make the best of it. My wife had been really excited for the performance, so needless to say, she was disappointed. What followed, however, turned what could have been a discouraging evening into something unforgettable. Our server, Carlos, came over and informed us that his manager had overheard our situation and wanted to offer us a free appetizer. We were so touched by this generous gesture. As the night continued, my wife was still on the phone trying to resolve the issue, and at that point, Kayla, another member of your team, came over and offered us a free dinner. Again, we were so grateful, and the kindness shown by your staff really started to lift our spirits. But the incredible service didn’t stop there. Later on, Kayla asked if we had any plans for the evening, and when we mentioned that we were heading home due to the day’s frustrations, she smiled and said, “Okay, so you have no plans. Good to know.” We had no idea what was coming next. Jon, your General Manager, then came over to our table with some astonishing news. He had purchased two tickets for us to attend the 7:30 showing of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra! We were completely taken aback—shocked, in fact. We thought we might be on a hidden camera show. But that’s not all. Jon didn’t stop there. When he learned that the digital tickets hadn’t come through, he walked with us to the Toyota Center Box Office, personally bought us two tickets, and handed them to us with a smile. “Enjoy the show,” he said. We were floored by his generosity and thoughtfulness. This act of kindness truly went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. We’ve been loyal customers of your Lamar Street, NRG, Sugar Land, Little Pappasito’s, and Webster locations for quite some time, and we’ve always considered your restaurants among the best in Houston. But after this experience, we feel even more connected to the Pappasito's family. The care and heart shown by your staff, particularly Carlos, Kayla, and Jon, made all the difference in our night. We can’t thank you enough for turning what had started as a disappointing evening into a truly memorable one. Please pass along our deepest gratitude to everyone involved. Thank you again for your exceptional hospitality and for going above and beyond to make us feel valued. We will continue to be loyal patrons of your restaurants, and we’ll be sure to share this incredible story with...

Where do I begin??? Made a 5:45PM reservation online and expected to be seated within a reasonable 5-6 mins. Go to the restaurant “on-time” and was told by the front podium worker that she was working on tables and that she would get to me in a few minutes. Waited and waited, all the while people were walking up without waiting and being seated. Some were there before and were being seated, but after approximately 18 minutes I went back and asked if there was a problem with my reservation. The girls told me that they paged me, and I told her “you saw me standing less than five feet away” We were eventually seated over 20 minutes later than expected, and waited another fifteen minutes for our waitress. She did an acceptable job but the people who delivered our orders never spoke to us or ask us if we needed anything else at all. The order of “Large Mixed Chicken & Beef Fajitas” weren’t seasoned well if at all, and the chicken was over done and stringy. Not to mention the amount of food for a $68.95 plate was pitiful!!! Chicken at HEB is $4.99 per pound and HEN Wagi Beef skirt steak is $14.99 per pound, and our platter barely if at all had a pound of each. Just figure the cost difference. Lastly, at a restaurant where you have cloth napkins, and prices at such a massive price, you would think that you could drink out of real glass , but no you have to drink out of plastic.

Needless to say, never ever again will I eat at Pappacheater’s rip off restaurant. Don’t waste your hard earned money here. Go to some where...
