We used to frequent a great Cuban restaurant in Providence up North for years so when we moved down South we wanted to continue tasting Cuban yuminess and my good friend John Nechman recommended Rc by Pound on Katy Freeway.

We were welcomed into a family diner style atmosphere by two warm affectionate ladies who made us feel right at home.

I asked if they can make me an order of tostones but one each from each of their menu item and she didn’t even hesitate. I had 1 ham and cheese, 1 shrimp creole, 1 shredded beef, and 1 ground beef tostones. I can’t pick which one was best because it was a complete tie. Every single one was delicious.

My wife’s Caesar salad was crisp and fresh and she enjoyed it.

I ordered the Uruguayo steak with a side of boiled yucca in garlic sauce and congri. I have had the steak in couple of other places - once in Orlando which I thought was the best but this was amazing. I think this is my new fave.

The boiled yucca in garlic sauce added the perfect light touch to the heavy and flavorful fried steak with ham and cheese stuffing.

The congri itself could have been my lunch because I couldn’t stop eating that. Rice and beans never tasted better.

My wife’s lobster in creole sauce was hearty indulgence at its best. The creole sauce never overpowered the lobster and the lister was allowed to the star of the dish. There was a generous portion of lobster too which is rare these days.

I finished my lunch with a yummy churro and Cuban espresso. We left super happy with both the food and the...

This restaurant is on the corner of a strip. There is plenty of parking. The dining area is one large open space. There was music playing at a reasonable volume so it was easy to have a conversation. We were seated and waited on at the table. Service was good. Of the 10 orders, I think only one had a minor mix-up on one side, and they corrected it with no issue. I started with the Cuban Tamale. It was okay, although a bit bland. I had the Cubano sandwich. Despite the rave reviews on here, I was a bit disappointed. The flavor was inconsistent throughout and overall, it was on the bland / dry side. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other dishes, however many of them are on the larger portion size and not really suited for lunch. Would be nice if they could add smaller versions to a lunch menu or have a lunch special of the day highlighting a different...

RC by Pound Cuban Cuisine offers exceptional food that truly deserves five stars. The flavors are rich, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Every dish, including the beef empanada, is a culinary delight.

However, I must rate the service at three stars due to a minor hiccup during my visit. Despite requesting the beef empanada to be served before the entree, it arrived after the main course. While this didn't greatly impact my overall experience, it's disappointing when such requests are overlooked.

Nonetheless, the quality of the food overshadows this small inconvenience. RC by Pound Cuban Cuisine remains a top choice for anyone craving authentic Cuban flavors in a...
