Just got back from this shop feeling very dissapointed. I recently got a job near Mahatma Gandhi District so i figured i would step outside for a quick lunch (aloo paratha) and in search for a much needed kadak (strong) chai. I got there before the lunch rush. There was only one person dining in and another couple in front of me who ordered a full meal. As soon as i placed my order and paid the lunch rush came in behind me and it seemed as if my meager to-go order had been forgotten. Everyone who ordered after me began to receive there full meal orders. The guy behind the counter kept looking at me as i patiently waited for my order, but he never asked if i had received my order. 15 mins later i go up to the counter and the lady who took my order said Paratha takes a while to cook, meanwhile an entire crowd of people were being served their lunch platters. I continued to wait another 5 to 10 mins when my paratha finally came out, but they never gave me my chai! Then another customer began to tell me i have to keep asking for the chai, because the chai is always ready. I didn't understand why i have to continually keep asking for the chai if it is already made. The lady who took my order should have handed me a cup of the chai upon payment if the chai is already premade. Finally i got my chai and the guy gave me a complimentary chai for the inconvenience, but proceeds to tell me it doesn't have sugar in it. So then i have a bag of food slung around my arm along with my purse and two hands full of chai that i have to carefully set down on the table to get sugar poured into the flimsy cups and the tables don't even have any spoons or stirrers on the table. By the way, the chai was extremely weak and watered down with no flavor. The aloo paratha was lacking salt and spices. I want to support my local community and culture, but the service here was well below subpar. Even Starbucks chai is better than chai at this establishment, which is incredibly embarrassing for our indian community! This place is right across the street from my new business and would have given them plenty of business, but this first encounter will...
Read moreReceived horrible service at this establishment today and would like to share my experience. I came here excited to buy a package of sweets as a gift for my best friend that moved away from Houston.
I walked Into the store and there was a long line so I picked up an empty box and waited my turn. The lady at the front was very kind and welcoming to the couple in front of me and as soon as it was my turn, she looked at me and immediately went to serve a man that just arrived and disregarded me, though she knew I was in line. The man however was polite and indicated to her to serve me first. As I gave her my box, she questioned whether or not I could afford the mithai box. I was incredibly offended by her question and asked her to please fill it with the mithai I chose. I completed my transaction and watched as she served the next man, also carrying a mithai box. She was incredibly warm to him and did not start her interaction by asking him if he could afford the mithai box.
I walked away incredibly disturbed by why there was such a difference in the way I was treated.
As a business, please be mindful to train your employees to be polite and kind to all patrons that choose your establishment over the other competitors in the area. During these trying times, we are choosing to support YOUR business with our hard earned money. This is not a one off situation. My husband and mother in law came into this store and were ignored for over 5 minutes while they stood waiting for the lady in the front for service. When he finally approached her and asked to order, she was incredibly RUDE and he realized that she had been intentionally ignoring them and chose to leave and take their business elsewhere. I will not be returning and feel sad that my experience was poor.
Unsure if this differentiating behavior is due to discrimination but truly hope not.
I came to support your store today despite the fact that my husband warned me that the service here is incredibly poor, only to receive poor treatment as a...

Ok. Here is my "pettiness". My family came there for dinner and we ordered food by credit card. Everything went well. At one point, we felt we ordered one roti less (we have two kids 13year and 9 year and the 9 year old decided to eat more). I sent my 13 year old with the credit card. She stood in the line, ordered one roti and the bill was some $1.6x and when she tried to pay, she was told she cannot pay using credit card for orders below certain amount.
I dont think too many "petty" 13 year olds come alone to the shop ordering just one roti. If a person is coming and ordering just one roti, it is obvious the food ordered originally was not enough The frontdesk person could have asked my daughter to see whether she can get cash from the parents - she just denied. The front desk person could have simply swiped the credit card - even if that means more charge to the customer or to the shop owner (money does not matter much here) 5.A gentleman that was standing behind my daughter understood the situation and offered to pay for the order which my daughter declined. What that gentleman had was commonsense
My daughter just came back and none of us were interested in eating at that point. I don't think any parent will be happy if they are not able to feed their kids properly. Restaurants are all about memories and feelings you build there. This is the memory I built that night at your place.
Not everyone posts because we have a platform. It is interesting to see the owner coming back swinging (because they have the same platform?). Not even interested in hearing the other side of the story? Also, we did not confront anyone;...
