Review of Sonic ā 8504 Main Street, Houston, TX 77025 Date/Time of Visit: August 17, 2025 ā around 3:00 p.m.
I intentionally waited several days before writing this review to ensure I wasnāt just reacting emotionally in the moment, but instead fully evaluating the totality of my visit. Unfortunately, even with that reflection, I still feel strongly that my experience at this Sonic was one where I was profoundly devalued as a customer, all over a $7 charge.
For the past two months, Iāve been ordering the same drink every Sunday without issue: a large watermelon cream slush. Since the watermelon slush isnāt in the app, I place an order for a large watermelon freeze with two sweet cream add-ons, and when I arrive, I clarify at the speaker that itās intended to be a watermelon cream slush. Both this location and the Stafford location have consistently honored this, and it has always qualified for Happy Hour pricing.
This visit, however, was entirely different. After pre-ordering, a female manager in a black shirt approached and told me I would need to pay an additional $7 because I had ātwo drinksā and did not qualify for Happy Hour. I asked for clarification, explaining that this exact order had been processed at this very same location multiple times before. Instead of a conversation, I was repeatedly told I was āincorrectā despite the fact that the gentleman working right behind her at the window had fulfilled this same order for me over the past several weeks.
In that moment, I wasnāt just inconvenienced. I felt belittled, dismissed, and, quite frankly, called a liar. All for $7. To avoid confrontation and holding up the line, I reluctantly handed over my card and paid the extra $7.08 on top of an already $56 order. Her only āsolutionā was to ask if I wanted a refund but to me, good customer service is not simply offering to give money back. Itās about valuing the customer, listening, and finding a way to make things right. That never happened here.
The final frustration came when I looked at the receipt and saw I was charged for four sweet cream add-ons instead of two. When I questioned it, I was told thatās just how she had to ring it up to āmake it correct.ā At that point, it felt less like resolution and more like being forced into a corner with no regard for how it made me feel as a customer.
This isnāt the first time Iāve raised concerns with Sonic either. In the past, Iāve requested phone calls and received them from local restaurant managers but unfortunately, nothing meaningful was ever done with the feedback. In fact, Iāve sometimes noticed worse treatment on future visits after voicing concerns, which only adds to the disappointment.
To be clear, this experience will not discourage me from visiting Sonic. Sonic has always been a good pastime and something I enjoy. But it is noted, and expected at this point, that action or lack of action from management may continue. Even so, I think itās important that these concerns are voiced and documented.
Iāve always viewed Sonic as a place that appreciates its regulars. But this experience made me feel like I didnāt matter, that my loyalty, consistency, and prior history with this order counted for nothing. To be made to feel devalued, dismissed, and accused of being dishonest over a $7 discrepancy is not just disappointing, itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell I visited this sonic about 1 or 2 months ago and encountered a very perky young latina seemingly nice at first but turned into a sarcastic you know what. My sister and I purchase 2 meals and our total came out to $11.69 I owed my sister 10 bucks on a bet so I wanted to give her $10 even so I handed the young lady $21.69 which met she was to give me back exactly $10 she stuck the $21.69 in the register but I guess she typed the wrong amount into the register since she returned $9 back to us instead of $10. My sister let her know that she should have received $10 instead. She then turned into a sarcastic you know what saying and I quote " Excuse me! No, I'm in college I know my Math". The fact that she said it did not bother me but how she said it sarcastically. My sister wanted to jump out and strangle the you know what but I think before I speak. So I said " You know what sorry it was our mistake" she replied "Yes I know" very sarcastically my sister turned to me and I told her in Haitian Creole "our native tongue" just drive. We laughed the whole way home losing a $1 won't hurt my pocket but I rather not go into a verbal disagreement in public and being cast as the stereotypical loud black girl. What I should have told her was I was an upcoming successful web developer with a high knowledge in not only computer science but mathematics as well :-) but I thought the customer service was horrible and made a vow never to visit this Sonic Drive In plus Ryan Anderson's review on how a dead roach was found in the bottom of the cup has definitely stopped me from visiting it all together. Cochons! (French...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNow don't get me wrong I've been going to this Sonic for years even when I was young my mom will take me to get things from this Sonic all the time. Now I really didn't start disliking this Sonic until maybe 6 months ago and the reason for that is the service started to get extremely slow and I really wasn't greeted with much good customer service after that. Sometimes the car line in the Drive-Thru would be 8-9 cars long and would be moving one car per 10 minutes or more. And to make it even worse sometimes I would go and every other time they will get my order wrong. There was one point that when I did go I would have this one girl that would have an attitude when I did see her and she served my food. One time I went with friends and had a big order and to lighten up the mood because one of my friends noticed her bad attitude and he told her a joke to see if she would at least live and she told him with a enraged face saying "I don't care" and when giving my card back to me she gave me really bad body language. Fortunately I don't see her anymore so they must have gotten rid of her but service is still bad till this day. And I know I'm nitpicking now but he even the manager can't wear the uniform seems like wearing tights and a casual shirt serving people with food with an attitude as well. To end off Sonic's service was really good until about 6-8 months ago they really need new management.
Edit: I have never seen a Sonic that is always out of ICE CREAM meaning no shakes or blasts that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a place that is called The...
