My family and I have experienced multiple racially motivated microaggressions while attempting to dine at this restaurant, which is unfortunately connected to the hotel we’re currently staying at. Despite giving them more than one opportunity, the ongoing pattern of discrimination has been deeply disappointing and unacceptable.
Yesterday, we went down for breakfast, which had been comped by the hotel manager. When we arrived at the restaurant, neither the waiter nor the waitress greeted or acknowledged us. Instead, they both shrugged their shoulders and told us to seat ourselves. A few moments later, white guests who arrived after us were immediately greeted and seated by those same staff members. The disparity in treatment was blatant.
The white woman working at the bar rolled her eyes as we entered and deliberately turned her head away. Yet just moments later, she smiled and warmly greeted a white man who walked in behind me—offering him coffee and asking what else he’d like.
When she finally came over to our table, her cold and dismissive attitude continued. My 3-year-old daughter, clearly picking up on the uncomfortable energy, didn’t want to engage with her. Rather than reflect on how her energy may have affected a child, the waitress looked confused and blamed my daughter’s silence on being “distracted.” She then walked over to her Hispanic male coworker and said, “Make sure they pay”—even though our meal had already been comped by the hotel manager.
This same male server rolled his eyes and treated us with open disdain throughout every interaction. He made no effort to be polite, welcoming, or professional.
My mother had to leave our table in the middle of what should’ve been a peaceful meal just to report our treatment to the hotel manager. The manager apologized and assured her they would handle it.
Today, out of concern for how we might be treated again—or whether our food might be tampered with—my mother decided to place a takeout order instead of dining in. When she arrived to pick it up, she noticed a food container on the counter and politely asked the same white waitress from the day before if it was her order, providing her name and avoiding touching anything that wasn’t hers. The waitress screwed up her face and asked condescendingly, “Did you even pay for it?” My mother calmly responded, “How else would I have an online order unless I paid for it?”
Only then did the waitress realize how inappropriate her behavior had been and attempted to backtrack—but by then, the damage was already done.
PS: With this blatant level of disrespect and lackluster service I wouldn’t even give them 1 star but Google is requiring that I do so, in even order to post my review.
Update: I received a reply from Table 7 Bistro that felt performative at best. They invited me to email them privately, which I did, but never responded. On top of that, they have since deleted their public reply—a response I have a screenshot of. This behavior suggests a lack of genuine accountability or interest in improving their service. It appears this is part of their pattern. Unfortunately, their actions reflect that they are not truly committed to hospitality, respectful treatment, or making meaningful...
Read moreHorrible experience here today. The waitress, manager, and the staff took over 18 min to even acknowledge me being there. They walked right by numerous of times. No greeting or pleasantries. Then when you finally get there attention, after asking 2-3 times when will I be served. The manager was just non challant about it. The food was mediocre at best. Not worth the money at all, waste of time, disgusting staff. Doesn’t matter that the restaurant is busy, but human nature would tell you to say hello and we will be with you shortly. I visit Houston monthly, and this place should be avoided, unless you like being ignored and treated like garbage.
Oh and yes, you ask for coffee they bring it black, you ask for creamer they give you 1. You ask for the check, they bring it without a pen. It takes 5+ min for them to re-acknowledge you, because they walk around so much lol I live in Miami, I know busy restaurants but never been treated like this.
I understand it’s convenient if you’re downtown, but enjoy being treated like that and ignored....
Read moreWe attempted to order room service and it was pivoted to DoorDash. We gave the DoorDash information, but the food is never brought up and no one ever told us it cannot be brought to the room. We waited an hour and a half. We attempted to contact the restaurant in which the phone number does not work on several different lines attempting. Upon having the luxury to walk down to the restaurant to speak with the manager, he was very confrontational telling me I’m not getting any refund and picked up the phone called someone and said this guy is requesting a refund. This is a very nice restaurant and hotel and im professional in my approach, but this manager needs some work on customer service !!
We were unable to indulge on the food as it never came, but the bar looked very nice and the food smelled good. We were just very wrongly treated in our attempt to order food to the room by the manager. It’s my suggestion of dine in if you have to as it’s not a five star or anything like that, but if not, there are plenty other restaurants within a...
