BEWARE: THEY COME IN YOUR ROOM WITHOUT PERMISSION. Management is super shady. This place was so sketch I was putting toilet paper between my door to make sure no one was coming in.
Recap of stay: Staff giving fake names, housekeeping coming into room without permission, tv did not work 2 out of 5 nights, complained and had to continuously follow up to get anything.
Housekeeping didnt come at our whole stay Complained on 3 different occasions about housekeeping not coming.Asked us one time at 6pm-we were coming back. We were without toilet paper, towels and fresh glasses
Front desk told us that they didn't have any toilet paper because they were sold out We asked for cups and she said they were all dirty from breakfast. The front desk attendant would answer the phone and we would ask for stuff and she would answer and then immediately hang up.
Went downstairs and found glasses that we saw at breakfast in the bottom cabinet, grabbed those and brought down our dirty glasses I was met with rudeness and when I told her all of the issues she would roll her eyes and say like I said I already contacted house keeping and they will come by in morning but I said I'm not waiting til the morning for toilet paper and she said someone would come by tonight. The associate next to her was laughing at the situation and it was a bad situation. (Her fake name was Ren) After that situation,The tv casting did not work and it froze on the screen for the rest of the night, being it's 2nd or 3rd rime doing that. So we were basically running downstairs for all of our amenities because housekeeping wouldn't come
Talked to front desk supervisor Luis and he offered for housekeeping come by, we said no because we didn't feel comfortable with them coming because of how often we have complained, said he would acknowledge his employees. Offered us 5,000 points (that we still to this day have not received)
Later on we left at 3pm and came back a couple hours later and housekeeping came in without permission, even after expressively telling the manager and putting the do not disturb sign on the door.
I feel super violated and don't even want to stay here, I had liquids in here that I didn't even feel comfortable to drink because they would go to such lengths to come in the room when I already expressed after 5 days it was not worth it and I did not want it to the manager AND put the do not disturb sign up. The manager said he would give me 20% off on my stay but the only thing I see on my bill is a 19.00 credit. My liquor was worth more than that. I wanted to leave this hotel that night and if it wasn't that late we would have, it felt unsafe that they can just come in your room and we had things out because we expressed we didn't want that anymore. We could not sleep scared that housekeeping would come into our room.
We called Hyatt and they were able to give us 20,000 points, and said they would follow up with hotel.
Of course, no response, I had to call more than a week later and follow up with Hyatt. I spoke to Luis and he said he meant 20% of the stay which still isn't $19, so I did the math with him and said I don't understand how he was willing to offer me 30 DOLLARS for this whole experience. I asked him about the 5,000 points and he said he was going to do it but I said he was supposed to do that in the beginning. The energy that this all took was exhausting, just stay clear of this place, there are plenty of other hotels...
Read moreBooked our stay here as a get away and chance to explore downtown Houston with my wife. Hotel was centrally located in downtown and walking distance to all that we had planed. Didn't know that Hyatt Place was Hyatt's budget line, pictures seemed to make hotel look nice. We arrived to fine 3 cars already waiting for the one valet to try and secure the vehicles, it was ~6 pm. You dictate the time for us to arrive shouldn't you have enough staff to handle that short window you provide. Front Desk had two ladies working both in Astro's T-shirts, its a game night so I will let that slide, but definitely added to the "budget" feel. One of the ladies was sitting on a luggage cart sorting boxes and the other helped us, they were both nice and check-in was smooth. We got our room and the upgrade I purchased for city view was a noisy street view, and I mean noisy! Is third floor in a major city really a city view. But hey, we got to see our truck sitting right outside our window, in the Street, for about an hour. Room looks nice, bath rooms were very modern and clean. The bed is quite possibly one of the hardest I have ever slept on, and I travel for work. I have friends that like hard mattresses and they probably would have enjoyed it, but I am sure they are in the minority. And, if you are in the room we were in you will be up all night due to the street noise thinking about how hard the bed truly is. Next, at some point Hyatt decided that the curtains in the room were outdated, and the decision to upgrade was to just ripped them down, seriously the torn out holes from the screws and the ripped drywall form the glue were all left just as they were. Now breakfast in the morning is a positive. Plenty of hot and cold options, much better than any breakfast you are used to at other hotels. And the staff working the breakfast kept the food hot and ready as well as checking on you at your table to see if you need anything else and will bus your dishes when your done. Also, the Valet is much better on the other side. Text them when you want your vehicle and they immediately text you back with a time your vehicle will be ready, 10 minutes was our longest wait, but I truly don't think it took them that long as our truck was ready when we got down stairs. Would I recommend, If hard beds are your thing, and look out for "City view" I would not take any room with "city view" below the 7th floor, and I am just guessing about how high you need to be to...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night prior to leaving on a cruise from Galveston on a very hot and humid day. I had booked this hotel after reading good reviews as I wanted my family and 11 month old baby to have a comfortable and relaxing stay before the start of our vacation however our stay was anything but comfortable. After waiting 1-2 hours to receive a baby crib which we requested with our reservation we had found out that the A/C in our room was not working. We informed the front desk and the hotel’s service technician came out to investigate the issue and determined after opening up the A/C unit that a flashing green light was on indicating an error code was present and that the unit required some sort of work or maintenance to be performed. The service technician reset the unit by flipping the breaker off, waiting some time, turning the breaker back on and waiting approximately 15min for the unit to reset itself. The A/C kicked on and the service technician told us he hopes this fixes the issue because he is off for the rest of the day and the hotel is fully booked. Unfortunately the A/C worked for only about a total of 10 minutes after the service technician left before kicking off and never turning back on again. In order to get the A/C to work we had to perform the same maneuver the service technician performed taking 15 minutes each time to reset the unit. At this point the baby was ready to be put to sleep for the night and switching hotel rooms or hotels was not an option for us. We were forced to play the role of A/C service technician the entire evening/night in order for our baby to sleep and needed to reset the A/C 15 or more times throughout the night resulting in little to no sleep. This isn’t an issue we thought we would have to deal with when staying at a hotel at this price point and certainly wasn’t a good start to...
