Taste Bar is a unique gem in the heart of downtown Houston. Yes, you'll have to pay for parking, but don't let that deter you because the food is absolutely worth it. Plus, walking off your meal guilt-free is a bonus.

The number one item they're known for is their waffle, and I had the cornbread waffle—absolutely mouth-watering. My husband and I were stealing bites from each other, it was that good. It had the perfect hint of sweetness for our meal.

We both had the Taste of Soul, and my husband had the oxtails, which were cooked to perfection. The greens were delicious, and the sweet potatoes were seasoned just right, not overly nutmeggy. Truly, compliments to the chef! You deserve every promotion and raise because your food makes people want to come back again and again.

We also tried their jerk wings—best seasoning with the perfect spices. They were so good we didn't have any left, but I wanted to show that we enjoyed every bite. The lemonade of the day was also a delight, perfectly blending with the spices of the meal. You just have to try it; you won't be disappointed.

Sigh. I tried this establishment when it was at a diff location and had an incident there with untidy dealings. I thought I'd give them another try and shame on me for that.

I came here on a first date, and didn't say much because I didn't want to be problematic lol. HOWEVERRRRR....

I ordered the lavender blueberry margarita and the taste of soul. The margarita looked better than it tasted, that's for sure. The taste of soul was everything I wanted but served with A SIDE OF SOMEONE ELSE'S HAIR.

Now, I was eating my greens and yams, spun my plate around to get busy on the chicken and rice and imagine my surprise when I saw someone else's hair tucked up under there in the rice!!

So my date alerts the server who turned his flashlight on using his phone to see it and then just took the plate away and downstairs. I really hate returning food but my hands were tied here. So like 5 mins later a different server, a female, comes back and just sat a plate in front of me without saying a word.

So to be honest, the food came out way too fast, I think they just pulled the hair off and rearranged my plate lmaooo. That being said, I nibbled on my sides and took the rest home...because I felt weird about it.

The thing is, no one said sorry. No manager spoke to us. Nothing. The inside is really nice. Lots of seating or whatever but would I go back? Hell nah. Would I recommend this business to someone else? Also no.

The lack of care and customer service is such a turn off - especially for the prices. It is very basic to expect food without someone else's stuff - hair or otherwise - in your food. Eat here at...
