The Decoy — Restaurant in Houston

Was excited about this place opening but I went to play my league volleyball tournament and had a bad experience ALREADY. First they had a bouncer search the INSIDE of my purse and turned me away because I brought my Gatorade. I came for the sports for crying out loud! I’m not going to get dehydrated by only drinking your alcohol. Our team paid hundreds $$$ to join the league! Also the “drinks specials” applies to only your first drink, it’s a couple dollars off or something, then after your first it jumps back to normal price lol. Cmon now. NOT A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION! Don’t you want us to feel welcome and bring more patrons? Instead you guys just seem stingy. To top it off, when paying my bill I noticed the default lowest tip option was 20%! Are you kidding me? 20, 25, and 30%. This is not a restaurant! The other volleyball venues Third Coast are way better and don’t do this to patrons. Think about your competition!

Update a couple months later: I gave this place one more shot. This time I came with a fanny pack about 6 inches in length. The bouncer said he had to search inside my purse. What are you searching for? What is this, TSA? The airport? A concert? Absolutely ridiculous invasion of privacy. Also, there are no nets that separate the volleyball courts from sitting areas. I saw people THIS CLOSE to getting smacked in the head several times from flying balls. This is a LAWSUIT waiting to happen! Never going...

I had to make some changes to an event we had planned so I reached out to The Decoy. They were able to accomodate my kind of last minute needs and take exceptional care of us! They had reserved this amazing space outdoors, but some of our older crowd wanted to be inside and they quickly accomodated those changes for us! Management was great! Shayla and the other sweet bartendar (ugh i hate i forgot her name) were AMAZING!!!! The specials were phenomenal! The Mexican candy shots were duh-lish! and those jell-o shots...whoooo wheeee! Nom nom! They had a DJ on site who played great music and because we are a Cowboys group he squeezed in " we Dem Boyz" a few times! The entire place was clean - well kept- and looked great! I didnt have any food so i cant speak on that, unless you count the jell-o which again nom nom!!! We are heading back on the 29th and i can't wait! I love it here!!!! I want to again thank them for accomodating us and everyone being so kind and providing great...

I grew up in Spring Branch and it makes me really happy to see cool spots like this opening up.

The outdoor area has a lot to offer. Most noticeably they have regulation sand volleyball courts if you're looking to be a little more active. They also have a nice outdoor covered seating area with a large screen for watching whatever the main game on that evening is. Lastly they had some pairs of hanging swings that looked extra comfortable. On the inside the noise level was pretty loud but there were a lot of large, bright high def screens and it had more of a hybrid sports bar / club vibe.

I tried the Branch Water and the Blue Lagoon and I thought both drinks were very tasty. Some other people I talked too had some other drinks and they thought they were very good as well! The servers were very attentive, friendly, and quick to get the drink orders out.

I really enjoyed my night at The Decoy and I will definitely be returning. If you're in the area I highly recommend you...
