My friend and I tried Underbelly Burger for the first time. What a disappointment. First the good: Our order taker was friendly, immediately greeted us, and she was helpful with suggestions plus answering questions. Now for the rest: the place was completely empty. To be fair, it was a cold and rainy day. The inside is very small with limited seating. There is only one booth seating spot to fit 2 people. They have a decent size outdoor patio, but again, the weather was not good to be outside. Our goal was to order a couple items to share so we could both try a couple items. We settled on the Wagyu burger with a side of onion rings and the Chicken Bit Box with fries. When our order was ready, the girl called our names from the counter. First of all, she saw where we were sitting, the place had no one in there except us, so why wouldn’t she bring the food to the table for us? Secondly, we explained we were going to split the meal, and we were ordering to eat at the restaurant. With this information, you would think the order would be placed on a tray. The order was handed to me in a bag with a boat type sleeve of the burger topping on the side. We asked for them on the side, so that was fine, but why no tray to carry all this stuff to the table. Not a huge deal, and we made it work. It’s just strange for her not to have paid attention to those details. She did seem rattled when we placed our order, so maybe she was having an off day. The best thing about the burger was the bun. They use Martin's Potato Rolls. They are awesome. These are the buns I buy when making burgers at home. They are loaded with sesame seeds, and they are perfectly fluffy. I do not recall them being so much on the small size. The burger looked exceptionally small. The onion rings are thicker than I prefer. They tasted okay. The Chicken Bit Box. BIT is the optimum word and very tiny pieces of chicken that I am not sure should even be called chicken. My friend cut one open and the meat was brown. Definitely not white meat chicken. The fries that come with the bit box are those thick semi curled fries. Some were so thick they didn’t get fried well. All in all, it was so poor, I would not even consider giving this place another try. That’s one of the reasons I like getting a couple items to split. If one thing is bad, you can give grace, but if everything is bad, that’s a problem. The portions are small, the indoor seating selection is small, the drink selection is small, the customer service is small, but the bill was large. $38.83 and that’s with a 15% tip which really peeves me. I tipped! Smaller than I would for full service, but more than I normally do for counter service. So tired of that at the screen tip shaming situation. What in the heck did the tip go toward because it certainly wasn’t service or quality. Maybe this place was good at first. Seems to be a trend these days to get it right at the beginning, then sluff off as the time goes on. For those who follow me, as I always say with anything less than 4 stars, it pains me to score a place so low....
Read moreMy family and I came here for lunch and were outright disappointed. First thing you'll notice is how unbelievably small this establishment is, especially when compared to nearby areas. You can barely hold two dozen people in this darn place! There's only three tables indoors, and the rest are all outside (I wonder how they'll deal with that during a rainstorm).
The Menu is quite small (both the poster and amount of food options), and there is ONLY ONE cash register! Because of this, people wasted an extended amount of time in the only existing line, in an establishment that couldn't even handle that many people. Thankfully, we were able to place our orders before it got really crowded. While waiting for our food, we noticed that there was no music playing, despite there being speakers in the building, how odd.
The orders took way longer than expected to arrive, probably because of how small the kitchen was. So how was the food itself? Although the beef in our burgers tasted fine, the seed-riddled buns were cold and dry, alongside some of the other ingredients. As for the Fries, they're not what one would call "conventional," to say at least. However, one of our biggest pet peeves was, without a doubt, the lack of importance on the drinks. The cups themselves are very small and made of cheap, bland styrofoam (which they weren't even bothered sticking their logo unto). But even more infuriating, there is only one soda machine visible in the entire building, accessible to employees only. So if you finish your drink and want a refill, you'll have to wait in the LONG line just to ask the cashier to refill your drink. WHY DIDN'T THEY THINK OF INSTALLING A SEPERATE SODA MACHINE FOR THE CUSTOMERS INSTEAD! THAT'S NOT JUST BAD DECISION-MAKING, BUT SHEER INEPTITUDE TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE! On top of all that, the combos are overpriced compared to the overall quality of this establishment. Not worth your time or money!
How about the positives though? Well, the tables and restrooms were clean. That's about it.
In conclusion, you're better off eating at some other place, rather than this sad, poor excuse of a...
Read moreI wish I’d taken pictures of the food because it was quintessential classic American fare. We got the corn dog, chicken bit box, the angus burger, onion rings, and by virtue of the chicken box—we also got to try the fries.
Everything was cooked so perfectly. You know if you don’t have a deep frier at home or just have experience frying things—it’s not as easy as you think to get it just right. Everything was just right. Nothing was oily. Everything was clean, crispy, hot, and seasoned amazingly. My only wish was for a heavier hand with the salt, but that’s my personal style. Genuinely everything was perfect as is.
Chicken = juicy Burger = juicy with all the right stuff Onion rings = crispy and the batter didn’t fall off as soon as you take a bite Fries = seasoned so well, fluffy inside, crisp outside
But this CORN DOG. If you love a good corn dog…this is it. This is THE corn dog. Corn bread batter outside was slightly sweet, fluffy, seasoned, and crisp. The sausage inside has snap. It’s juicy. Not greasy/too fatty. So yummy. You’ve got to try it. I wish they’d offer a honey drizzle for the folks who like it sweeter, but for me, I like it more savory and slightly sweet. I always wait for the rodeo or a fair to have corn dogs. Or you do it at home yourself right? Never the same. This is the perfect American corn dog.
Price point was reasonable imo! For everything we got, and we over ordered, it was just under $50.
Last but not least, the crew here is amazing. They love what they do. They’re good at it. They care about it. Ronny — you’re a doll. You are a brilliant host. Thank you guys! We will so be back. (It’s me...
