Very disappointed in the size, very small compared to Sam's club in Freehold and they do not sell liquor. They do have a deli which is a plus, but because of all the customer standing around waiting to be serviced I did not have time to look at their prices since I would have been adding to the log jam of people trying to get by. Being a smaller building with isles being more condensed, there will probably be people in your way just like at a smaller supermarket at every other turn and down popular isles. I don't remember having that much of a problem in the bigger clubs as I had here. Granted they just opened, but there were no more customers that a good day somewhere else has.
There are only 5 tables in the food court so expect to take it to go if you wanted to grab something quick to eat after you are done shopping. It just seemed like you are on top of everything from the moment you walk through the front door until you finally got outside when you leave. With all the land there you would of thought it would have been planned out a lot better and a little more elbow room given attention too.
The prices didn't seem to be better than Sam's Club but since I have a membership for both for the next 11 months I will compare them and see where I renew at the end of the year. The one thing that BJ's has right now is the fact that it is about 12 minutes closer.
You have to enter the tire sale/service area from a separate entrance. I wanted to check their prices because I need to replace my truck tires soon, but once I found out I had to leave the store and go back to my truck, load my groceries, drive back to the other end of the building from where I parked, I new it wasn't going to happen today. The layout of the gas pumps is horrible with only 1 pump per island. With most cars on the road using the drivers side pumps, the passenger side pumps are usually always empty and because it is one way in, you cannot enter from the opposite side, you have no choice but to wait. Being that they are the cheapest around for gas ($1.85 cash or credit), the wait could get long.
I first joined BJ's 25 years ago and have since been a member at Costco's and Sam's Club and I also belong to Restaurant Depot (my favorite) so I have seen what they each have to offer. But since this was my first time back in a BJ's in 15 years is was very disappointing from my first step in to the building where I could easily see all 4 walls. Personally I like bigger stores where I do not feel crowded and with all the extra room next to BJ's, hopefully they will one day expand on what they just opened up yesterday.
Overall for me right now, the gas station, even with its own problems, is the best part of...
Read moreI like that they have a deli with good prices. I hate that it’s always understaffed, resulting in LONG wait times. I’m here now, waiting for over half an hour with a crowd of customers waiting and two employees behind the counter. One nice gentleman is finally helping me and he looks exhausted. Another woman is filling orders placed on the app. Both are pleasant and trying hard. Not their fault. I feel bad for them.
I like that that have a gas station with excellent prices. I hate that it’s always understaffed and the design is terrible to get into to, resulting in LONG wait times.
When leaving the store, the woman checking your receipt goes through everything with a fine-tooth comb, resulting in LONG wait times when leaving the store. At Costco, it goes MUCH quicker, proving that it doesn’t have to be that way.
Once I bought tires there. Tires were fine, but they were understaffed. There was ONE person working there, who was responsible for filling propane tanks, installing tires, and helping customers at the register.
Notice a theme here? Not the employees fault. The whole store is always understaffed. I brought this up to the manager once and was told that they are hiring, but no one wants to work. I don’t have these issues at Costco, a similar store. Why don’t they have the same issues staffing...
Read moreI bought a 600 dollar tv. Had it for 2 weeks and it stop working. I did not have the box or the receipt at the time. So I took it back to the Howell location where i bought it thinking I am a member they can look me up and see when i bought the tv and i can get another one. That Did not happen. I talked to the Manager in charge name Sean. Howell location. He flat out told me he cant help without a box or receipt and said if you spent 600 dollars you should have kept the receipt and walked away. I called him back and he proceeded to tell me it says on the back of all our receipts that you have to have a box or receipt to return electrical items. Well we found the receipt and it does not say that and I asked him about that and he had nothing to say then. So I told him you are a manager and even if you cant help me, act you you are and go the extra mile. Dont make me feel like I am beat out of 600 bucks for a tv and walk away. Honestly I think he picks and chooses who to help if you know what I am saying. So Keep your receipts and boxes for at least 1 year. I will be writing to corporate about this Sean...
