Man, I just happened to stumble across this gem. Passing through town, I decided to grab breakfast. Turned out later than I thought, luckily they serve brunch until 3.
The atmosphere was vibrant, transporting you to another locale entirely. If it wasn't for the windows looking down at the rest of Hudson you could be convinced that you're dining in Havannah.
The service.
The service was beyond reproach. Everyone had a great attitude and one could clearly see they enjoyed being there. My particular server, Marty was very knowledgable and kind. Giving me advice and descriptions of each dish that intersted me.
I enjoyed freshly squeezed OJ, and a cuban coffee to start - I lived in Miami for 3 years and know my coffee Cubano. I was pleasantly surprised. Though, in my oppinion this Cuban coffee was much smoother than what I've experienced in South Florida, which is not a bad thing! Perfectly suited to the menu and excellently paired with any breakfast item. I highly recommend both beverages.
I ordered the Burnt Caramel Orange Cinnamon Roll to begin. I've attatched a photo - it cost 4 dollars and melted upon contact with the palette! You cut into it, and the Cinnemon-Caramel Orange insides ooze out onto the plate, giving you an unexpected sauce upon which to dip your cuts of the roll. Delectable. The slice of Orange that adorns this dish comes with what appears to be a burnt face. Upon further inspection I realized it was a candied crust of cinnamon-caramel. I ate the orange slice last, the fusion of cinnamon and caramel mixes deliciously with the juicy orange slice, and essentially clears the pallet for whatever dish you decide on next.
For me, after letting the roll settle while enjoying their black coffee and reading my book by the window, I elected the scotch egg to close out my brunch.
Attatched is a photo. It's a poached egg, encased within chorizo and herbs - lightly fried all around, atop a bed of pickled onions and (I believe) mint. I've never had anything like it. Once I cut into it, a tiny bit of yoke dribbled down, though most of it clung to the egg white in a jelly-like state. I appologize, but I cannot remember the name of the sauce that accompanies this amazing morsel of refined dining. The server in his wisdom even provided spare sauce in the case that I desired more. However, the mix of flavors provided enough stimulation that in my opinion were perfectly balanced. I ate each bite with a cut of pickled onion, and a dollop of sauce. It was so savory, this too melted in my mouth.
I enjoyed what felt like a world class meal, for 22 dollars! Unbelievable. Hats off to this little gem. Hudson should be proud to host such a fine establishment. I have no doubt word will spread and others from all over will soon seek out a table.
On this day, I ate alone. I cannot wait to bring family and friends here to share the...
Read moreI was really excited to try the new pizza place in Hudson, having been to New York and never finding a slice of the same caliber here in WI I didn't hesitate to make a reservation. Unfortunately it didn't live up to it's name.
Cocktails were amazing, I'm assuming those carried over from their previous iteration of Del Este. However the food was a major letdown.
I was with two other people. Between the three of us we ordered 1 starter, 2 salads and 4 slices of individual pizza (pepperoni, cheese and 2 specialty which were pesto and sausage.) All of our slices came out immediately before any starter or salad, which is fine but isn't the whole idea of the premade slice that they can be served whenever, thus allowing our starters and salads to come out first? The pizza was not like the New York slices I was accustomed to, rather dry and lacking an abundance of flavor. The salads finally came but then we had to wait another 5 mins to obtain silverware and napkins. At this point we had given up hope for our starter; the roasted garlic, but that arrived 5 mins before we were getting our tab was way too late.
Timing was horribly off for the whole service, food was nothing special. Do yourself a favor and go to Bricks...

For your main meal, you cannot go wrong with either the Hammock Bteakfast Burrito with your choice of meat cooked inside or the Huevos Rancheros. However, if Cecelia is available, you will be thoroughly pleased with her excellent suggestions, friendly service and...
