So I just went to the brunch today on 10/12/24 at Tequila’s Mexican cantina. The service started out fine, but then the experience just kept going downhill. I’m not sure who my waiter was, but he clearly shouldn’t have been taking orders. The entire time, he was rushing us and didn’t listen to our orders properly. It may have been the language barrier, but at the very least he could have taken the time to understand our orders, making sure he got it right instead of being hasty. He originally put in an order for two egg entrees, when we asked him which one was better. When we picked one of them, he still had both entree orders. So I further clarified to take off the other order because we were bever trying to order two egg entrees. We asked for no chorizo specifically, then 15 minutes later the order came back with chorizo. Then we had to send it back, and it came back a 5 minutes later with no chorizo. But it also had no chipotle or salsa Roja, which it was supposed to, as we specified salsa roja in our order. It was extremely bland. The waiter barely came to check on us, and when I mentioned there was no salsa Roja like on the original order with the chorizo, he said something about there being chipotle sauce on the plate, and that’s why there was no salsa Roja. He was pointing to the ketchup of the home fries when he said chipotle sauce. There was no chipotle sauce. There was a queso sauce however. Before I had time to correct him, he swiftly left. And when he was too quick to take away plates. For a place where WE were the first and only people they were serving brunch until a small family came in, they really were not attentive and lacked in their service. We have a small tip, but I don’t even think that was deserved. So disappointed with today’s service and food, besides the 3 leches banana pancakes being good. I hope they do better. Ive been here before, and this is the first time I was extremely disappointed by...
Read moreFull disclosure... it was by default today because my go to was closed. But they made a STRONG run for my future business!
Usually, another spot is my go to - Zarape in Marlborough. I love the local private restaurants like that and this one - especially when the food is good. But sometimes the timing doesn't work there... a few weeks ago went too late at 6:45 or so - they close at 7 Sundays. And they were closed altogether today. So.. I tried the new place in Hudson. And it didn't disappoint!
Off the bat... the interior os TOTALLY different from the run down Chinese place before with a nice big bar area with TVs. It was NOT a cheap hack job. They totally remodeled with only the entrance remaining for the steps. They have an expansive menu with authentic and fusion dishes. I went with the Hula Quesadilla which was pretty good and a Ccorita, which was the star. The shaved coconut in the drink was a nice touch! Though honestly I think the presentation would appear even more epic in the bigger margarita glasses. The staff was friendly too.
Overall, I'll definitely check it out again. It wasn't super busy when I went so can't speak to how they handle big crowds. And it is new so there is bound to be a learning curve. My hope is they keep the level where it is, don't slip bit improve - maybe even with season spins and takes.
I like the added competition...

Cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Tequilla's! I hosted a 20-ish person party here and couldn't ask for anything different, from our first contact through the event itself. Kassandra was so easy to work with, willing to not only accommodate our budget but also to provide us with many options and recommendations to customize the menu as we wanted. On party night, manager Adrian ensured we had all we needed and our server Maria was friendly and attentive.
The great folks were definitely not the only highlight of the party. The food and drinks were phenomenal, plentiful, and very reasonably priced. To start, we had chips with queso, salsa (green & red), and some of the freshest, tastiest guacamole prepared table-side. For the main course, the variety of tacos (Maui, Carnitas, & California Green) and fajitas (including bacon wrapped shrimp) were so tasty that none of us could stop eating.
And the drinks? We shared 4 pitchers of fantastic margaritas (Tradicional, Diego's, Coco-Rita, and our favorite La Muerte) and another of the Coco-Mexican Mojito. All unbelievably fresh and so good that we barely left a drop on the table.
Such a fantastic evening! We have a number of Mexican restaurants closer to home and will now come out to Tequilla's each...
