Read moreMy husband and I finally had a date night without our children on Tuesday night. We went right when they opened at 5pm and there were only two other tables filled. We placed our drink order (harvest mule was delicious) and wanted the french onion dip appetizer. Our waitress told us it wasn't prepped and would be about a half hour wait. We then ordered the braised beef egg rolls. Our waitress came back and said they also would be awhile. By this time, 10 minutes had already passed so we thought 20 more minutes for what we originally wanted would be fine. At 5:40, our waitress came over and said she personally cut the onions and they were just put on the grill. We decided to hold off on ordering our burgers because they still had open tables at this point and burgers normally take at most 15 minutes. Around 6pm, all tables were full and our waitress seemed stressed. Our dip was brought over at 6:10 (an hour after originally told 30 minutes) by a gentleman who was probably the manager. We had to stop our waitress to order our burgers before all of the newly sat tables ordered their food because we knew we were running low on time for our babysitter. We were there for an hour and 45 minutes and only received drinks and our dip before we asked for our check.
I am not certain what happens between 4pm and 5pm when the restaurant is closed between lunch and dinner but management needs to look into prepping their ingredients ahead of 5pm. Our meal with prepped ingredients should have been 75-90 minutes from start to finish. Instead, a couple who was really excited was now disappointed (and hungry) and held up a table that could have been turned over. This situation did not benefit anyone involved and hopefully, will be a learning experience for...
Read moreThis place was so much better a few months ago when it was a butcher shop and deli/market (with a good amount of dine-in seating as well) before it went full-on restaurant, downplaying its butcher shop and removing altogether the fresh meat cases and deli and so forth in the recent remodel and re-layout. (Although I suspect the conversion into a typical, mainstream theme restaurant is more lucrative.) Now it’s not much different from any other run-of-the-mill, medium to high end casual restaurant with a rustic theme; it lost much of its uniqueness and ambience. The new bourbon bar in the back is very nice; would have been a lovely addition to the old place. Now, you can’t sit at the main bar and watch them cook anymore, which was always fun and interesting, and brought the staff closer to the clientele, and they got rid of their (outstanding) charcuterie boards because, they explained, they don’t have the fresh meat cases anymore; those super-fresh and versatile/customizable charcuterie boards used to be an excellent thing to sit and snack on with wine, bourbon, etc. The place used to be much cozier, more unique, more personalized, and have a better vibe. Now it’s just another place to eat (with more tables than it used to have, but less specialness). We used to stop in there all the time because it had a unique vibe to it; now we still go there from time to time, but it’s just another restaurant in the rotation, nothing we seek out anymore for the experience. Food is good, but more commonplace; service is fine, but less of a personal experience with the chefs and bar tenders and manager; ambience, rustic coziness and uniqueness are not gone entirely but largely - and...
