Update 3/28/24 : I no longer blame management for the disgusting food quality. Apparently the owner approved of, and probably tells them to serve old food. The comment in response to my review was just an attempt to pretend they will fix this situation. The owner is rude and showed no interest in correcting the quality of the food. My original email was cordial, but I did get angry when it received no reply. He then called me hostile when I called him out for not responding to my initial email AT ALL! And told me my attitude was a bit much. Judging from other reviews here and on Yelp, it appears it is common practice for them to serve OLD FOOD! They have no pride in their business. They only care about making as much money as they can. Trying to work with me would have started with an apology for the experience and trying to correct it! I'm not wasting MY money there any more! The health department needs to pay a surprise visit! He doesn't understand why you may get angry about being charged to eat food that should be in the TRASH!! There is NO WAY that food is made fresh when it's that disgusting at 11 am! I tried to be nice and notify them through several surveys before this post, but they don't care. I expect to get edible food for my hard earned money, and if I dine out, I expect to enjoy it! I told the owner if he said they were correcting it, I would try again and if it was better, I would change my review. His response to that was not to come back, so that shows he intends to keep serving cold, dried out, leftovers ! 🤢🤮 That's why he gets hostile when you call it out. He's not professional at all ! If you go once and the food is gross, it's not a fluke.
The management seems to have changed a while back. They used to have good food, but now it's a rip off! I've taken their survey several times, but they don't care. The food now is cold and dried out. Read moreThe Golden Corral (GC) @ 9663 F.M.1960 East @ McKay Rd. (that shares the parking lot with SAM's) is simply incredible. We've eaten at GCs all over Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, etc., None of which compare to our dining experience at this location. We had pretty much given up on "All-You-Can-Eat" type restaurants. Their sign that read something like: "Whole Bone-in Fried Catfish," was the primary factor that lulled us inside. On a hungry Friday evening, we couldn't resist. Wow! were we surprised: from the clean entrance, to the friendly cashiers, to the neat food presentation on the steam tables, to the clean carpeted floors, to the (neat, in working order) restrooms, everything was immaculate! This was an absolute first for us at an all-you-can-eat-restaurant. To top that, we didn't just eat the delicious fried fish, shrimp and steak fries. We were compelled to try quite a bit of the various food items. Specifically, the cooked-to-order grilled steak that was magnificent. Often times we don't get that at $$$$$ Steak Houses. . . So was the succulent Salisbury steak, the steamed green veggies, the luscious salad bar, and the variety of decadent desserts. We definitely got a 'bang for our bucks!' I had to personally, compliment David, the manager. I told him just how 'tight a ship' he ran and just how 'on point' everything and everyone was (including our outstanding, very tall waiter Paul.) By the way, the entire time we dined, we noticed that David not only managed, but continuously pitched in helping employees from the kitchen staff to the waitstaff to get the job done. This rarely happens in this type of heavily trafficked restaurant. Nor in the food industry overall, So, I just had to share it all in a review. Pardon my being "wordy-gurdy." You've got to go there and experience it for yourselves. You'll be glad you did. Don't forget to compliment/reward the staff, they work really hard. ...
Read moreA few years ago my spouse and I visited this location and was very disappointed in everything about it. About 3.5 years ago we allowed ourselves to try it again. To our absolute amazement this location had been completely and totally renovated inside and to some degree outside as well. The restaurant is and remains very clean and well kept. The bathrooms are always clean which is a true testament to an establishment’s overall cleanliness. The food is always fresh, due to a high volume of customers visiting the establishment. When I go out for a meal I really want fresh homemade meals otherwise I can cook it myself. The new franchise owners Lori and Ralph have really turned this place around. The staff are all very pleasant and take care of your every need before you can even ask for it. Since Lori and Ralph have taken over this place we’ve never been disappointed with any meals. Whether is midday or just before closing the consistency remains at a high level. If you haven’t been in a while or never been to this Golden Coral you must give it a try, I seriously doubt you’ll be disappointed. Go ahead, try out the endless protein choices, the vegetables the salads which you can create however you desire. The desserts or off the wall and always replenished on a regular basis throughout the day and evening. Thank you Lori and Ralph for giving me a night off every week from cooking.
