🗓️ July 2025
OMG. Another accidental masterpiece discovered today.
Simple, fresh vibes. The kind of place where your brain goes, “Ahhh, finally some peace!” Fast and attractive service — though let’s be honest, that might be because everyone’s getting their food delivered these days. Fewer people inside = more attention for me. Win-win! 😎
✅ Big parking lot (no fighting for spots like it’s Black Friday) ✅ Surprisingly quiet neighborhood (my food could hear itself sizzling)
Now, let’s talk FOOD. Because WOW. Whoever’s in that kitchen is either a magician or has a direct line to someone’s Indian grandma.
⸻
🥣 Manchow Soup: Spicy. Bold. Punches you in the taste buds and says, “You sure you can handle India?” Not for the weak-hearted. But let’s face it — without spice, life is just boiled potatoes.
🌽 Corn Chat Pata: Okay, this one’s like that student who almost aced the exam but forgot to write their name. Good on its own, but where’s the black and green pepper magic? A solid 2.5/5 — potential is there, just needs that finishing oomph.
🍚 Street-Style Veg Fried Rice: HOLY RICE. I kid you not — this is the best I’ve had in the entire USA. And I’ve reviewed over 2000+ restaurants, so this ain’t just excitement talking — this is science. Pure, delicious, street-style authenticity. I could write a love letter to this rice.
🥦 Veg Manchurian: Perfection. Not too hot, not too tangy — just that balanced, real-deal flavor. Most places serve it drowning in weirdly sweet tomato sauce. Not here. This one knows who it is and what it’s doing. Respect.
⸻
✈️ FINAL VERDICT: This place is now my mandatory stop before flying out of Houston Airport. Like a ritual. Passport? ✅ Boarding pass? ✅ This restaurant? DOUBLE ✅
Chefs — don’t let them go. Lock them in the kitchen if you must. Feed them cookies. Give them a raise. Just never let them leave.
Kip it up, guys — oops, I mean Keep it up! (But hey, Kip sounds...

6/30/2024: Came back here for a second time and we would still rate this restaurant with 5 stars! We tried the Drums of Heaven with the masala sauce for our appetizer and it was delicious! I got the butter chicken and my husband got the shrimp korma and they were both fantastic. You cannot go wrong with the garlic naan, it’s so good. If you like spicy, try the bullet naan. If you want something sweet and you like pistachios, try the peshwari naan.
6/20/2025: We absolutely love this place just as much if not more a year later! If you have not been here yet, you should definitely give this place a visit!!! For an appetizer, we got the magical maggie rolls which are basically Indian egg rolls and SO GOOD. If you like heat, try the drums of heaven in the chilli sauce. Butter chicken is a good go to if you don’t know what to get for your main meal. The Saag paneer is also a good option for those who don’t want meat! Saag is spinach based with a special sauce and paneer is like cubes of cheese. You can also customize your spice levels (mild, medium, etc.). I don’t like spicy so I always ask for “mild, no spice” and my husband is the complete opposite and asks for his dish to be as spicy as they are able to make it lol. They always say opposites attract! You can also request for them to bring out a small bowl of their yogurt which can help tone down the spice level if it ends up being too hot for you. I’ve also gotten their Wok Tossed Hakka with chicken which is stir-fried noodles if I want to change it up. You can also get it with veggies instead of meat. My husband likes to get a mango lassi which is like an Indian based mango milkshake.

Read moreFirst off, if I could rate this place a 10 stars, I would. We came in to celebrate our anniversary and they had the table set for us and right off the bat the customer service from Praveen was top tier, answered all of our questions (it was my husbands first time eating Indian food haha) and gave us great recommendations. The mango lassi drink he recommended was so refreshing as well as the Taj Mahal beer and the drums of heaven (with chili) were exactly that, juicy, flavorful, savory chicken wings from the heavens above. We also got the korma with chicken and the jalfrezi with goat, street style fried rice, which was all well seasoned and delicious. At the end of our dinner, we were brought a chef’s special dessert, which was such a perfect way to end a wonderful meal and we were handed AN ANNIVERSARY CARD FROM THE STAFF! I have NEVER seen an establishment go so above and beyond for an anniversary dinner before and it brought tears to my eyes. The customer service is above phenomenal here and we’re seriously considering going back for every one in the future not only because the food was great but simply because the staff went to great lengths for us. I was also told that the humble location had only been open a year and we were their first anniversary, and it was our first anniversary as well, so it all felt like it was meant to be ♥️
I will forever hold this place in my heart for their special touch on such a special occasion, thank you Monk’s. Here’s to both of our first years and many...
