We tried it for the first time tonight. The place was empty on a Saturday with only one couple there. We still decided to try it. The lady who later we found out was the manager told us to sit and offered drinks. We said water no ice. She sent ice water with a lemon on it. We didn't say anything. We ordered our meal. Only one came out first and then the other one. It was kinda quick, but I wanted to try it with hopes of it being good. My wife's food was okay, but my special fried rice kinda smelled a bit off. All places don't cook the same, so I gave it a try. The first taste is not so good. Added a bit of soy sauce. Didn't help. Added a bit of sweet and sour. Didn't help. That was just on the fried rice. Tried a piece of meat. It tasted like it was spoiled or something. That was only my 3rd taste. So I asked my wife to try it. She said it had a bad taste too. I put it to the side and had a few bites of my wife's meal. Someone from the back asked if all was okay. I kinda smiled and said, "It's not really okay." She went to the manager. Before we could speak, she started talking about her policy, and she would take me to the kitchen to show me they make it fresh and guarantee the quality. I said it didn't have a good taste because of the pork, and the rice was not all fried. My wife asked her to just remove it from the table because my husband was not going to eat it. She was rude, as many of the recent posts have stated. My wife and I shared her meal so we could pay and leave. My wife went to pay, and the lady manager was rude again. My wife asked her to put the food we didn't eat in a to go container. The manager said it was in the trash. We didn't think it was fair to pay for food we didn't eat or allow us to take it to go since we ordered it. The manager was rude and said she would call the cops. She told us about her policy again for the 4th time before she called the cops. Then she brought the plate of food from the back and said she thought it was in the trash. I said if u would have boxed it and not told my wife it was in the trash, we would have paid for it a long time ago and left. I waited for the police because of the untrue statement she made over the phone. Cops came and couldn't believe she said we were trying to skip out without paying, but we waited for them to come. I told the officer that the manager was rude and pulled our food from the trash after she said she thought we didn't want it. The manager never made an offer for a resolution but threatened us to leave, and the cops were coming. We have not had this type of service and poor treatment from a manager at any business type. I pray they do well and learn how to treat customers who buy their products and also learn how to manage better when they have a simple or bigger issue. Im sorry the review was so long, but we wanted to share our experiences with others who may want to give this place a try. Heads up if u try this place. The manager is beyond rude and will call the cops if you have any type of concerns with the...
Read moreIf I could give you a zero for customer service I would have. I once really liked going here. But things had changed twice I have experienced back customers service from the owner. She is rude and very disrespectful. I had my daughter call in a order for me and she ordered one item wrong. Not even five minutes went by when she told me the order and I said call back and change one thing. I owner told her she couldn't change it for it has already been made. So you mean to tell me you are going to make me purchase a item, that I haven't touched or paid for. When I got it the restaurant to pay and pick up the order, I asked her why couldn't the order be charged seeing that it was just placed. The woman owner told me because she repeated the order back to my daughter and she said ok. Then as she is speaking to me she raise her voice, and tell me that's why we repeated the order. I calmly say I understand but it was a mistake and I don't want the pork egg foo young. She tries to tell me that I don't have a choice 🤔. Sorry woman owner I do and you have no right to try to force customers to pay for something they don't want, nor do you have a right to tell at and over talk customers. That is bad business and I will take mine somewhere else. China River is not the only Chinese restaurant in Houston nor Humble. Just remember woman owner one day you will be a customer standing on the other side and I pray that no one treats you the way you treat your customers. People are human and make mistakes and no one should be felt like they have to be made to pay for something that they would not eat because you too cheap and too lazy to have your Cooks remake what the customer wants. So no I didn't buy anything and will no longer...
Read moreMy shrimp tasted spoiled on the shrimp fried rice. One of the waitresses was preparing snow peas on a table with no gloves or anything between the table and the food. After we complained we could hear the managers calling us liars. They have a real knack for that according to the other reviews on this.
EDIT: ok so y’all are being ridiculous. Having your out of state friends trying to discredit my complaints on Facebook. The crux of the issue was that one shrimp tasted spoiled . But by continuing to mention 14 shrimp per plate and there only being 3 left is insinuating that I was trying to get a free plate of food. We were initially trying to bring that to your attention plain and simple, you saw the amount of food on my plate and assumed and or judged that I was trying to get off with a free meal. Excuse us if we were alittle shocked when the head waitress or manager walked to the back with my food then to the sectioned off area to the right to dig around in the plate I ordered. We could hear them arguing about my plate probably mentioning the amount of shrimp on my plateagain the crux of the issue being one bad tasting shrimp. We were still in shock by your obvious and rude actions while the gentleman followed us out to stand and intimidate us. You also insulted my car. It’s just an odd comment for an establishment that claims to be welcoming and family friendly. I don’t want a refund or to ever go back to your establishment. Chinese food is everywhere. I want my friends and family and prospective buyers to be aware of y’all s attitude and unprofessionalism. God forbid if you don’t drive an executive car and decide to complain...
