If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place was horrible. The service was awful. We (myself and 3 girlfriends) arrived and were seated and asked for our drink order promptly but then we sat there for over 30 minutes with only our drinks. The AC must have been broken because it was super hot in there. They finally came over and took our food order. The lunch menu didn't have much variety and wasn't very clear descriptions of items. I ordered fish (I had to ask "what kind", turned out to be salmon and shrimp combo and a side of shrimp tempura which again I wasn't 100%sure if it was so I googled it...its supposed to be crispy fried shrimp. It was on the menu for $7.95. It came out about 20 minutes later as a plate of softly fried, gooey shrimp (4 pieces) with what looked like a small fried mushroom, a piece of fried broccoli, a piece of squash, and a fried sweet potato slice. I asked the waiter about it and if I could send it back because it wasn't what I expected and because it had zero flavor. I clearly had not eaten but 2 pieces and just to taste it at that. Anyway the people could barely speak English but managed to say speak to manager. We proceeded to wait for our hibachi guy that finally came out and started cooking. One of the people with us was a gun shot victim and requested the guy not do all the banging part of the show as this is scary still for her. He totally ignored her and did it anyway. The salon was a tiny piece of fish but tasted ok at best. The shrimp was chewy. My friend ordered steak and it looked like a slither of round steak with no flavor. It was probably the size of a small pork chop. The other 2 women ordered chicken and it also was super thin piece. The best part of our meal was that one of the waiters who didn't speak English kept our drinks full. When it came time for the check we asked that it be separated. I asked to pay for mine it came out to $29.72 for one person?!?!? They had not removed the shrimp tempura and then they charged us a tip on both checks for 18%. I noticed my check right away and decided to speak with the manger but my friend just paid her bill which was $48 She gave $62 cash. The waitress took the money and sat down to eat. At that time I told my friend about my bill and that the tip was already included. She hadn't paid attention so we asked to see her bill again. Sure enough they had charged her too so she was just going to take the %36 or 38% tip and not offer change? We said we were sorry but it wasn't worth and got the extra back. We asked if we could adjust the tip that they had already charged and they said no. I can understand an "included gratuity" if it was a big party or if they had maid it clear ahead of time or if they even deserved it at all but none of that was true. Then I asked about removing the shrimp tempura and they said no because I had eaten 2. 90% of the plate was there. I explained it was not good and they said oh well I can give you 5% off the plate. Seriously??? Omg I about came unglued in that place. It was the worst experience at a restraunt ever. I will never be back and I mentioned that to her and she said "oh well". This...
Read moreOur experience at HB Hibachi was profoundly disappointing and unacceptable. The meal was not only underwhelming in quality but also raised serious concerns about food safety and customer service. My husband, who has never failed to leave a tip in his life, felt compelled to break that streak—and for good reason.
From the start, the service was subpar. The waitress displayed a consistently unpleasant attitude and seemed irritated throughout the evening. Without warning, we were seated with two other unrelated parties to fill one hibachi table, which made for an awkward and impersonal dining experience.
The chef appeared disinterested and performed only one basic hibachi trick, despite children being present. The food preparation was sloppy—vegetables were drenched in soy sauce, shrimp was undercooked, and all proteins (steak, chicken, and lobster) were cooked well-done, regardless of individual temperature requests. One guest even pointed out that the grill temperature seemed too low, but the chef disregarded the comment entirely. None of the guests at our table took leftovers, which speaks volumes about the quality of the meal.
The most disturbing part of the evening came at dessert. When the children were served vanilla ice cream, one of the cups contained a dead bug—complete with legs and body—clearly visible on top. When we brought it to the waitress’s attention, she silently took the dish back and returned with a replacement, claiming it was chocolate without consulting the kids. It clearly was not chocolate.
Three of four people who had the shrimp within an hour had bubbling stomaches that ached. The experience was both unsanitary and unprofessional. I strongly urge others to avoid KB Hibachi. Save your time, your money, and...
Read moreWe made a reservation for 16 people for hibachi two days in advance. Got to the restaurant, we ended up with 14 instead of 16, still requiring two hibachi tables. We were sat, servers were not told we were a single party, so we had two servers working separately which made time of payment a complete disaster. Before that, table 1 was brought out soup/salad at least 15 minutes before our 2nd table. Chef comes and there is only one, instead of two working simultaneously. This lead to table 2 not getting their meals until 30 minutes after table 1 was finished eating, RIDICULOUS! The server for table 2 brought drinks, soups and salads then completely disappeared. Table 2 had to flag down server 1 over and again because they had 0 service.
To be clear, our chef was amazing, he did exactly what he needed to and what he could. The food was mediocre at best.
Time to pay, every time we tried to explain to server one that we had meals at both tables she kept telling us “later” until I made it explicitly clear we were ready to leave. Finally, what I’m assuming is a manager came to help server 1 but still only gave us tickets for table 1. The illusion server 2 finally came over to bring checks and was incredibly rude when we tried to explain we wanted checks for both tables split according to people on the ticket and not the tables. Never once did they ask if we were a whole party, never did they ask if we were on split checks.
This was my son’s 16th birthday dinner and it was beyond a disaster. The lack of effort by management to accommodate a large party even though it was a reservation made in advance is poor business. Will never return to this establishment and highly suggest you go to shogun if you have a...
