I visited this Chili’s location today, 3/7/25 at 8:45PM. Starting off with our arrival, we noticed that it seemed like they weren’t expecting another party to come in. It was me and 3 other people. So, they scrambled around trying to find someone who could take us under their section. When we got sat, the first thing out of our waitresses mouth was “You guys piss me off” and she was directing that towards I’m assuming the hostess who gave her us. She said that flat out right in front of us, loud and clear, and then turned to us and said, “Sorry, not talking to you, I’m talking about them.” After that, she took our drink order and was very rushy. Like she was trying to get us in and out quickly. I ordered a Coke and the rest of the table ordered waters. Another woman brings us our beverages but not my Coke. She walks away quickly and says nothing. A few minutes go by and I notice the woman walking past us and I stop her and ask where my Coke is at. She says “Oh yeah, of course” and walks away, returning with my Coke. Then after receiving our drinks, our waitress comes back to the table and looks at me directly and goes “Are you ready to order now?” Catching me off guard because we weren’t expecting her to say that so quickly. Anyways. We gave our orders and she left. Keep in mind, one of my family members asks for buffalo ranch with his food. Finally after waiting, our food comes out and alas, no buffalo ranch is given. She drops the food off and my brother asks for his buffalo ranch. She says, “Oh sorry, I forgot, I’ll go grab it.” She takes off and for the next 10 minutes, she stays behind the bar with her coworkers, just laughing and talking very loudly. And we were sat near the bar so we had a direct view of her socializing with her coworkers. After that, she comes back and goes, “How is everything? Do we need anything else?” This time I speak up and ask her about the buffalo ranch. She says, “Oh, sorry I forgot” Goes and grabs it and brings it to my brother who is now about halfway done with his food because she decided to socialize instead of grabbing it when it was originally asked for. The whole time we were there, the vibes were just off. Our waitress was just very passive aggressive, very condescending, and altogether rude. She barely checked in on us and only refilled our drinks one time, at our arrival when we first got our drinks. The whole vibe with her was off and it super disrespectful to us for her to act like that. If she had a problem with us being sat under her section, she could’ve let off some of that steam elsewhere instead of taking her anger out on us, paying customers. We will not be returning to this location at all. Food was great but the atmosphere was terrible. Never again. The River Hwy location in Mooresville is 1000x better. Unfortunately, we never got her name because she didn’t introduce herself and was wearing no name tag. She was a woman of color with black hair. EDITED My...
Read moreWe stopped in on a Saturday. We like to sit at the bar because we are closer to the beer. My husband ordered a drat beer. I ordered a gin and tonic and got a gin and club soda (very different). We got chips and salsa. My husband ordered a burger and fries. I ordered a shrimp mex bowl. I’m pescatarian. I asked for no cheese, no chipotle pesto and no ranch (I mentioned no dairy). We finished our first round of drinks and waited a little bit and then placed our empty glasses toward the front of the bar to get the bartender’s attention. The bartender then came out with our food and saw the glasses. She sat down our food and asked if we wanted more drinks. I asked for a water and my husband got another beer. I looked at my bowl and there was chicken on it. I told the bartender I don’t eat meat (chicken). She took the bowl back and within a few seconds she was back with my bowl… no protein at all. I started eating and noticed the warm lettuce and something extremely spicy. I can only imagine it was the chipotle pesto (now suffering a migraine. I cannot tolerate chipotle). I pushed the bowl toward the front of the bar to let the bartender know I was not going to eat it. I felt like an idiot because I thought I had explained I was pescatarian and wanted to upgrade to the shrimp with no dairy or chipotle. I reckon I wasn’t clear enough. But I shrugged it off. No biggie. Only good vibes… it’s Saturday. My husband said his fries tasted like they were old and tasted like they had been reheated. He said the burger was nothing like what was described on the menu. He only took a couple bites. He only ate 1 fry. Then the bartender asked if we wanted a box and we declined. She never asked if everything was okay. I waited tables for a long time when I was younger so I tend to be a little biased on service so I try not the be too critical. Husband visited the restroom and said it was disgusting. We got the ticket and it showed a chipotle chicken mex bowl for $15.59. I had just had two bites of what I think was chipotle and lettuce. The menu stated Mexican rice was included… I never found any. $15.59 for a bowl of lettuce and chipotle. We checked out on the portal on the bar. Never once did the bartender ask if everything was okay. I don’t think she cared. I have no tolerance for this kind of service. We tipped anyway and spent over $60 on nothing. I guess the alcohol. We won’t be back. We have been to this Chili’s before and have noticed the service is lacking, but just brushed it off. We did our due diligence and now we have e learned. This Chili’s...
Read moreIt’s Friday but a day off so time for errands and I need options for my project besides Lowes, that is the only home improvement store in my village, so off to nearby Cornelius and HD.
While out, I get a text from Chili’s - Free chips and quac - with an entrée. Why not? It’s lunchtime and it’s been forever since I’ve been.
Sat at the bar, served promptly. Craft beer aficionados take note: Only two craft beers on tap. The rest are your usual domestic suspects.
Lovely Wife ordered chicken fajitas; I, the Chicken Ranchero Tacos (3). A couple small TVs to pass the time while drinking my IPA and talking with Lovely Wife.
The chips are good tasting but thin and break easily. A shame because the guacamole is a nice stout mixture. We use forks to spoon the good stuff rather than struggle with breaking the chips. You know how when you buy a bag of chips, that towards the end, all you get are small thumbnail size pieces? That’s what we got after scooping out the larger pieces. C’mon Chili’s, you can do better.
You also get salsa, sort of on the mild side.
Lunch is served. Lovely Wife’s chicken fajitas are really sizzling. I mean really sizzling. Really huge portion. I mean really huge.
My tacos are OK but the whole affair, Taco, Beans, Mexican Rice- are just a degree above “warm”. The tacos are tasty but I need some hot sauce. I use salsa which is still too mild but better than none at all.
Verdict on the Chicken Fajitas: Outstanding. An excellent value for the $17-something asking price, especially considering the portion. Leftovers anyone?
Verdict on the $12 Chicken Rancheros: Just ok. The tacos themselves were fine but could be served hotter. OK, not sizzling but hot. Same for the beans, also ok but probably tasted better if hot. The Mexican Rice? Meh. I’ve had better from Rice a Roni. They were undercooked, not even Al Dente, and also the same luke-warm temp. I probably should have sent my meal back for a do-over but I suspect doing so would have landed the entire plate in the micro.
Would I go back? I’m not so sure. We’re this restaurant located in my little village of Denver , North Carolina, probably, since we have so few dining options here. But in a place like Huntersville, there’s too much competition to give it another chance. But if you’re in the mood for fajitas, by all means,...
