I have dined at this restaurant multiple times at this point. The meals have been ok to very good, depending on what was ordered. The specials tend to be a safe choice for diners. I really want to like the restaurant. It has a cozy feel, as it is inside of what seems to be a historic house that has been preserved within the downtown Huntersville community. That gives the place a certain degree of charm.
On my most recent visit another waiter served my meal to another table and the diner stuck his fork into the meal, then realizing it wasn't his. The server then proceeds to grab the plate and give it to me. I refused and let them know that I didn't want it. They then took the plate back to the kitchen and returned with what I was told was a new dish. After that I had lost my appetite. I was assured that this was a new dish, surprisingly, this time it was prepared in about 2 minutes and served in a dish with the temperature of the surface of the Sun. I have to imagine this was a microwave re-fire. I made the mistake of assuming that I wouldnt be charged for the entree after stating that I didnt want it, and beyond that having it dumped. They refused to take this off the bill. They comped a beer, but I got to pay full price for an untouched meal that I advised that I didn't want after their mistake. Poor resolution on the part of the restaurant but I have learned to take this restaurant off my list of local options. Very disappointed in this place. Hopefully they do better in the future. Luckily there a lots of other great local...
Read moreWe had eaten here a few times and it was always delicious! It has a quaint, rustic ambience that we find charming-a fresh rose and candle on each table... When we dined in, my husband always got the veal parmigiana and myself either the chicken parmigiana or shrimp scampi. I am from NY and it reminds me of the food I used to enjoy there. Recently we have started to get it for carry out once a week for date night. Husband still loves the veal parm but I have gotten the pappardelle bolognese the last three times-it is so flavorful and filling with fresh homemade pasta! The bread is just like old style; crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The portions here are not huge; Americans are too used to eating massive amounts in one sitting compared to the rest of the world. We think it’s more than enough! I don’t think one can put a pricetag on properly made food that uses fresh ingredients. If you want a slightly cheaper meal with larger portions of subpar quality food then I suggest going to an Italian chain restaurant. Mama Mia Too rocks! Update: we used to love this place but the last few times the portions just keep getting smaller & smaller. You don’t get a side salad, just a few small bits of bread. For the price it’s just too expensive for such a skimpy meal. Until they change this we won’t be...
Read moreAmbiance was nice. I really think they could be 5 star, coming from someone that grew up in an old Italian neighborhood in Queens NY. For appetizers we the calamari and crab stuffed mushrooms - calamari was solid, mushrooms were sublime! Our main dinner was the veil which was perfect in portion and taste, my wife had the lobster ravioli which she loved but the sauce was watery- pls just add some pasta water and heat to to thicken it - would have be per, definitely worth ordering - please understand I’ve been spoiled. Desert was was homemade Tiramisu, flavorful, texture and presentation was great! Please just soak the lady fingers in espresso a little bit longer- it would have been perfect! I wish our waiter would have cleared our appetizers before serving our dinner, it was finished at the time of service and she was still going to drop the plates on the table. On a romantic night with not many people, it would have been nice if the waiter would have poured our Amarone rather than me checking on my wife’s glass. All in, definitely recommend, it was a nice old world Italian restaurant, not rushed,...
