Even writing this review makes my stomach churn, but if it prevents someone else from experiencing what my family endured last week, it’s worth it.
I’m certain we were food poisoned by the pizza we ordered from Slice House. We opted for a pepperoni, sausage, garlic, mushroom, and jalapeño pizza. The mushrooms, garlic, and jalapeños tasted like they were spooned out of a jar/can and slopped on top of a pre-cooked pepperoni pizza. The pizza appeared to have then been placed underneath a heat lamp while it waited to be picked it up.
Three out of four of my family members consumed some amount of this pizza. Three of us had a 24-hour bout of vomiting, with the severity of our sickness directly proportional to the amount of pizza we ate. I should have been suspicious when I opened the box to inspect my order. The lady over the phone had said it would take 35 minutes for our pizza to be ready for carryout. I arrived 10 minutes early, but the pizza box I was handed felt soggy and warm. It was very confusing.
When I opened the box, I couldn’t tell the garlic and mushrooms apart. Both had a wet, slippery texture, unlike the baked or seared look I expected from toppings on an oven baked pizza. The pepperoni looked like it had cooled into the cheese, while the mushrooms, garlic, and jalapeños shifted and rolled across the top of the pizza as if they had been added after the base had been cooked.
I am afraid to consider that the pepperoni pizza may have already made, prior to my call, and when I called in my order, they simply slopped the additional toppings on top, pushed the pizza back under a heat lamp or into a microwave, and took my $35 + tip.
I’m very disappointed to say that after a positive first experience two years ago, I’m not sure we’ll ever eat here again after this most...
Read moreIf I could give them zero stars, I would. My friends 11 year old who was with us said they should change their slogan to "okay pizza, horrible service", and this is 100% accurate. And you know if a child could notice the hostility, it was BAD. The young girls working there are rude and look like they hate their jobs and they definitely show it, especially the blonde one. It was not busy at all and she was acting like us ordering food was such an inconvenience to her. Also overheard the owner talking about how "annoying" the kids being in the restaurant are..... ummm sir, you're literally across the street from discovery place kids. If you don't like kids, move locations My friends and I were so mad we spent practically $300 here collectively. The food was not good, the bathrooms had mold and mildew in them, and the customer service was horrible. I've never seen a girl eye roll at every single customer more than that blonde chick behind the counter did. It was just so stressful feeling like we weren't welcome there. Definitely save your money. I know it's convenient if you're at discovery place, but the $5 pizza isn't worth it, and you'll spend the whole time mad that you even spent your money here. Take the drive to one of the many restaurants in the area that actually have GOOD food and great customer service...
Read moreFinally made it! I have been driving by this place for a few years. I had my opportunity so I popped in. I could see the Discovery Place from here. How convenient for families to pick up after a day of activities with the kids. They have ample indoor seating & it’s great that they offer the 2 liter soda to go! I tried to photograph the food selection…there was a glare from the glass Showcase but you can still See they have a variety of options.
Since my husband is now on a no carb diet, it was just me. I asked a few questions… the girls helping me were friendly. I tried the recommended Sicilian pizza slice & some garlic knots. The pizza has a crispy crunch consistent with that region of Italy…it was super gooey with cheese & the garlic knots were exactly what they are supposed to be. Maybe just me, a bit too greasy, I’m not sure but I felt like what I ate was a bit oily. Maybe they brush on the garlic after they bake. Too much oil got unto mine. Not sure. But still the knots are a generous size & if you love GARLIC, these are for you! I’ll be back to try something else next time. Glad to...
