Too long, didn't read: This restaurant gave me bad diarrhea, ruining my birthday.
I had a mushroom burger with a fried egg, as well as ice cream on top of a brownie to celebrate my birthday. After I left the restaurant, I was feeling a sense of dread inside me, like my body was anxious.
I went to watch Infinity Wars at the theater, and after a few minutes of watching it, I had to go to the bathroom. It wasn't to bad. Things settled down, but then near the climax of the movie, I felt the sudden urge to go again, and I had painful diarrhea. It lasted for a long time, with me having to flush and change toilet seat covers to save people from the smell.
By the time I was finished, so was the movie. I left the theater, tense and still with lingering discomfort.
I don't know what it is, if Islands doesn't handle their ingredients in the proper manner, have health code violations, or if someone is being nasty in the kitchen. Either way, I don't want to eat there again. I don't want to be hanging out with my friends and then being interrupted by something I ate.
Islands metaphorically and literally...
Read moreWell, this was a horrible experience overall. Not even sure where to begin. Service was bizarre, awful and left all six of us wandering if we were in the twilight zone or something. Wait staff was totally inexperienced and obliviously to basic principles of serving. The manager was equally ill equipped to handle the most common issues. After having an entire drink spilled all over two of us we were given a stack of napkins because they couldn't find towels to try to clean up ice and lemonade all over our seat. Our server disappeared and eventually after we tried to clean up and two of us were left standing soaking wet with no where else to sit she asked if we wanted more lemonade??? No one offered to assist us, to try to help us dry ourselves, our table or our seat. When we asked for boxes for two of us to box us our meals to take home since we were to drenched in lemonade to stay we were given two small boxes that would not fit an entire meal and presented with the check. In the end we were clearly too nice, too accommodating and will never go to this...
Read moreMy wife ordered a kids meal for my daughter with a Sprite - turns out the server never even added it to my order. After I picked it up we noticed they didn’t give us the kids drink. I called in to let them know they forgot the sprite and was put on hold and hung up on at least 5 times before I spoke with a manager. Finally, connected with Jerry, a manager. He told me the sprite was free and that it was a no-charge; I told him I paid for the kids meal and the drink is included so it is, in fact, not free. I asked for an extra drink next time and he kept pushing me to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get the drink. At that point, the food would be eaten and the drink a moot point. Jerry was not understanding in any way and, in the end, said he will put a note in the back office for a complimentary dessert on our next order. Very abrasive and confrontational management this night - isn’t the point of a manager to make sure the store operates as it should and that the customer be happy and satisfied? Doesn’t sound like either points...
