This is what I wrote them in their feedback: Let me start off by saying that our server, I believe her name was Valeria, was great and provided a great experience for us. The overall price of the meal was also reasonable. Our concern was the $10+ surcharge your restaurant imposed on us without notice or warning and not reflected in the pricing of the meals. This amounts to a bait and switch where you're advertising a product for a certain price but charging us more. We asked if this was optional, and while we've seen it once elsewhere, they've always offered to waive it if we asked. There we thought it wasn't a big deal so went ahead and paid it. But for your establishment, it's just an unknown required charge that we wouldn't see until after the meal. Everyone realizes that products and labor cost more now. We understand that. Again, we're not concerned with paying a bit more for our meal. Just increase your price so that it's transparent. $10 out of a $300+ check doesn't amount to much, but this small amount came off as deceitful to us. Now before you say that you have a sign posted somewhere in the restaurant (I never saw one), how many of your patrons would pass right by such a sign and not read it? With how dark the lighting is at your restaurant, how would anyone notice anything. Thanks for marring what was, otherwise, a great experience. Now if this surcharge went directly to the server or staff, we'd be all for it. But the manager brushed us off and told us it goes to the restaurant. If you're trying to send a political statement by doing it this way, as some have suggested, please keep your patrons out of it. This will obviously be going on Yelp and/or other...
Read moreYummy, Yummy, Yummy. I had the Veggie Burrito and added chicken. It came wrapped in a red tortilla with fresh veggies with a zesty twist and chucked chicken. The house Margarita was top notch...better than most house margaritas I've had at other local restaurants. The salsa was fresh and had a nice kick to it paired with yellow and blue fresh lightly salted to tortilla chips. They weren't too thick and weren't too thin, they were just right. The fresh street corn cut at table side was delightful. With just the right amount of spice and cheese I ate it right up. The watermelon was fresh and delightful, which paired well with the street corn. I had so much fun eating for once I just enjoyed the food but forgot to take pictures. I'm so so sorry. Next time. This was actually my 4th visit to solita Tacos & Margaritas and I have to say the service and staff was the best I've had there. The staff was more attentive than ever. This was on Saturday 2.25.23 sat by the kitchen in a high-top with a booth and chairs. I can't recall our server, Hispanic gentleman glasses and possibly a goatee. My friend and I were in a small time crunch as we were on the way to the movies and you were not only courteous, funny and kind but made our dinner delightful yet swift with no long waits for anything, on a busy night no-less. I highly recommend this Californian Authentic Fresh Twist on Mexican Food restaurant. The ambiance is simple with a bold feel. The lighting just perfect with a small yet big bar. And great outdoor searing to boast. Take a friend, take your family, take a large group, take a spouse, take a date, take a group or just go by yourself as they accommodate...
Read moreSo I'm a big fan of Sol Cocina, I love their street tacos and their margaritas. When I heard Solita Tacos was opening and I don't have to deal with driving so far and deal with the valet, I was convinced coming here would be just as good. Well, this was my experience.
Upon entering the large door (which I would love for my own place), you check in. Oh make sure you have a reservation cuz coming here even on a weekeday, it was crazy packed. We were in line for about 10 minutes just to trying to put our name down. That's what I didn't like. We kept waiting for the people to go in and again....and again....and again. We were also told it was 45 minutes but realistically it was almost an hour. Sigh.
As for the chips and salsa, it was on the salty side but it was good. The horchata drink there was great but I thought it was kind of pricey at $10. The chicken tacos were ok, the pinto beans were a little spicy (which was great) It also tasted like they used some kind of fat cooking the beans. The ice tea I got wasn't great (I replaced the green mango one with the black tea, both tasted watered down) The elotes was pretty good , I would say one of the best side dishes you can get here.
Service wise, it was above average. There was that over caffeinated guy that kept going around with the chips and salsa. Our server was great too, very soft spoken.
I would rather go to Sol. It tasted more authentic to me.
Oh, on a quick note. Try not to valet here. I saw a guy with his Porsche rolling backwards when the attendant got out of his car. It almost ran into...
