Edit to respond to own’s question below originally review….
Wanted to love it, but a big disappointment. Restaurant was about half full but it still took 30 min for just our initialdrink/wine order and a full hour for food. Got the Salmon and Pork Chops. It was very basic and nothing a chain restaurant can’t do at half the price. Service was not good. Our server literally disappeared for about 25 min. We had to get up and ask other staff for help. And there is zero ambiance or style to the interior decor. We so wish somewhere in town could actually provide a somewhat fine dinning experience. This is not it.
Response: Thanks for asking. I hope this helps…
Interior: lights were full bright until finally lowered around 8pm, no music, unlit oil candle sat wasting space on all tables. Add a white table cloth would help. So just dimmer lights, light the candles and some music lightly playing. Boom! Ambiance that costs you nothing.
So also,
Our server gave us ONE menu for our table “that’s all we have”. She said
please hide the random blue ladder by hall/bar with cleaning supplies on. Looks trashy.
Fireplace unlit, maybe turn it on? Otherwise it doesn’t add and just has random photos and books on it that don’t add appeal.
Food: yeah basic, looked great but flavor didn’t follow through. The salmon glaze was not detectable. So basically just a salmon with bland risotto. Creamy, but bland, sad. I actually put some sauce from the pork chop on it which helped. Would have loved for the glaze to have a hint of flavor and crisp and a flavorful risotto. I’d bet sometimes it all comes together, but not for us. Quality checks? Idk.
The pork chop was needing seasoning. Sure if I drowned it in sauce then it tasted like sauce but a touch of seasoning or dry rub would have been excellent and reveal a higher level of skill.
Again, I’m not saying the food was bad, just on par with chain restaurants. Price accordingly is all.
Wishing you successful improvements and...
Read moreI met several friends here last Thursday for drinks/food. I started off with the house Cabernet Savignon. I'm not sure of the winery but it was a California blend I think. Pleasant enough. Had the Call me a Cab wine flight next. The first one, a french selection, Sanssouci, was a bit acidic and fruity with a very light body. The middle one, Quilt, was full bodied and spicy, long finish. Just a great Napa wine. Quilt was easily my favorite of the night. Lastly, the Paso Robles offering, Justin Isosceles, was fine, but underwhelming after the Quilt. It had more body than the first pick, but otherwise just decent. I had the cheese board and the wine tasting plate to compliment the flights. I must say the carmelized bacon on the tasting plate was great. The other items on the cheese board were decent with a few hard cheeses, crackers and bread. The only downside was the service was slow. We waited quite awhile between orders for drinks and the check took a long time to come. I'm glad I tried Sip as I have wanted to for some time, but my expectations were not quite met. Maybe I had the bar set too high beforehand. Still,...
Read moreWhat is there to say, they have quality, hand selected wine that you can try with others of the same flight for a very fair price. Add to that a selection of bourbons & scotches that speak to your very soul and call you by name (even if they do it with an accent)! This bar is enclosed a small area but has a huge heart. Whenever someone more poked in to see if there was a spot, someone else made room for them. There was always room for one more. And that is the attitude that Allison has bought to this bar. Not only her professionalism but more so her passion for this place shows through in how meticulous she is over every drink... 🍷 Here's to you! Keep up the fantastic service and we'll keep coming to SIP before anywhere...
