I normally visit places twice before reviewing and should preface this review with the fact that I am not accustom to eating Asian cuisine.
With that said, I am a huge fan of Thai food! Specifically from Phuket!
The starter dishes we chose were the Satay chicken and Thai pot stickers. The pot stickers are simple but well done. The Satay chicken is unique because it is accompanied by a sweet peanut sauce. The chicken on its own is also very good. The cucumber salad was very good.
I had the opportunity to try out the Pad See Ew, Chicken Pad Thai, Masaman chicken curry, and my friend had Kao Soi.
As someone who isn't experienced in Asian cuisine, I really enjoyed my dish, the Pad See Ew which translates to "soy sauce stir-fried noodles." It's light and delicious (and most definitely not ew as the name suggests! 🤣) This dish is not spicy and a great option if you can't take the heat, like myself.
The Chicken Pad Thai, which my wife had, was the best she's ever had. She could not stop eating it! I agree that it was very delicious. So good in fact she was tempted to order another one to go!
The Masaman was also very unique and tasty! Interesting flavors that I had never experienced before. I enjoyed the potatoes in this dish and loved the sauce!
The Kao Soi are also favorites as seen by other reviews and is my friend's go to when visiting Phuket.
Finally, because I was enthralled with the food, we all decided to split the Rice Custard. Very delicious which reminded me of an arroz con leche that my mother makes.
Again, this was a fantastic place to eat at, and am excited to expand my palette on other unique Thai dishes...
Read moreWe live close to Phuket and I'd been eyeing it for a while. Finally made a New Year's Eve reservation for date night. When we arrived, there weren't many people there but I explained that I had a reservation and my husband joked "Looks like we didn't need it." I nudged him because the phones were ringing off the hook and it was still early in the night. I had a talk with him about the completely unnecessary comment and how he might have offended the host, because judging by the look on the host's face, he didn't receive this joke very well. The evening goes on and the restaurant gets busier and busier. Service was ok, the waiter wasn't very talkative but the food was amazing. Our longest wait was between dessert and the check. It must have taken 20 minutes to get our check after dessert was finished, our waiter nowhere in sight. No biggie, they had gotten busy. After we finally pay and he brings the receipt, he made this big speech about how "as we could see, they were so busy tonight so he's glad everything worked out for us to eat there." Prior to that, we had NO conversation about anything so it seemed extremely condescending and like the staff talked about us over a joke. It felt like he thought this up the whole time and couldn't wait to say it. I seriously cringe every time I think about so. It was so unprofessional and rude and I didn't say anything because it caught me...
Read moreIt saddens me to say this, but in my opinion, this restaurant has gone downhill. It used to be our favorite Thai restaurant, and we would drive about an hour round trip to go there. We went for lots of special occasions. We love coconut curry dishes. When we first went there the yellow curry was served on an attractive dish with fancy carrot curls and was full of flavor. But over the years the presentation changed and now the plate looks like one mass of yellowish lumps. The last two times we went, it was not very good at all. It looked unappetizing and did not taste very good, either. The chicken was not as tender as it used to be and tasted like chicken that's cooked with insufficient seasoning and the vegetables were not quite as flavorful as I would have expected; everything sort of tasted all the same. My son reported the same thing (he also loves yellow curry). This happened once and I thought it was a fluke, so we gave it another chance a couple months later, but with the same result. I've noticed that several Huntsville restaurants seem to have cut costs since COVID, perhaps to survive, and maybe this restaurant did that, too. The ambiance is decent and the service is fine, but you go for the food, and the dish we like is just not good anymore. It's entirely possible that everything else is good, but I...
