On our anniversary, we decided to celebrate at Ruth's Chris Steak House. We have eaten here on a number of occasions but first anniversary celebration at this location. There was a prix fixe menu and it looked perfect. This option came with a salad or lobster bisque. I opted for the bisque and did not regret it. It did have lobster, was creamy and tasted like a dash of sherry had been added. A salad may have been healthier but, it was a special occasion, so I splurged on the exquisite taste with the extra calories. For the main course, I ordered a 6 ounce filet with a lobster tail. My wife opted for a filet with shrimp. Both were served, as usual, on a very hot plate and the items were cooked perfectly. The filet was cooked perfectly. Often a medium rare order for a small steak is overcooked—this was not overcooked and had the taste I was seeking when ordering it. I grew up in New England and enjoy lobster. (Hence, the lobster bisque.) I prefer a lobster (whether a whole lobster or just the tail) steamed and without heavy seasoning. The lobster tail had a considerable amount of seasoning (Red Bay, perhaps) and it detracted from the natural taste of the lobster with butter. Based on my experience with this type of dish at other high end restaurants in the South, I should have asked to hold the seasoning but did not think to do so. There is also a very good wine list. We have often ordered a bottle of outstanding red wine to go with our meal at Ruth's Chris (Justin Isosceles) and it was again on the menu and available. We enjoyed that with an excellent meal. For dessert, we shared a fudge like cake called a Chocolate Sin Cake on the menu. One piece was plenty for two people to share--it is a very rich dessert. Our server, Donald, did an excellent job and made our celebratory meal even better with his suggestions and willingness to answer any questions. He was also our waiter for a recent birthday celebration and provided the same memorable service and dining experience at this Ruth's Chris. The ambiance is pleasant. We were there shortly after the restaurant opened so our setting was quiet. It has the atmosphere of a traditional steak house: comfortable, relaxing and not too bright and and no one is in a hurry for those dining to leave. This Ruth's Chris is located near Huntsville Hospital and a Publix grocery store. Parking is available in a garage a short distance from the restaurant entrance. Overall, an outstanding meal, a varied menu with excellent selections and an excellent dining experience, as usual!

An absolute disgrace for a Ruth Chris. I’ve received better service at the Waffle House. Service: upon arriving, I had a reservation for three plus a baby (toddler not eating off the menu). The gentleman in the front, who failed to greet us, says “well that’s four.” I explained that I came by yesterday in person to confirm if a toddler counted and if I needed a reservation for three or for four. The hostess told me no, three is fine and the baby doesn’t count. He then tells me the same thing, as he said it with attitude. I stand there in shock until the young lady besides him says not to worry and she will get our seat. As we are waiting to be seated, the gentleman then tells me that a high-chair requires a fourth seat. I tell him that I can count, but your hosted is the one who told me the amount of seats needed. This incident left me frustrated and already made my experience before being seated absolutely unacceptable. Once seated as we were served our different courses, the plates stacked up and weren’t taken away. Plus our two waiters rarely came by to check on us, which we were left waiting for items such a steak sauce, salt, napkins and the check. The food: If I need steak sauce on a steak, I’m probably at a Texas Road House and Applebee’s (which I would never eat a steak at). Having to put sauce and salt on a steak that was brought to me medium well, nearly well done - after requesting Medium... totally unacceptable. Will not be back to this location as it is poorly managed. Complete waste of my time and little value added to my evening or appetite.

Oh man, lots to say about this place. To date this is the most my wife and I had ever spent on a meal, but it was totally worth it. We started out with some drinks at the table. I grabbed a Monkeynaut and my wife picked out a nice Moscato. In combination with the bread and the calamari we were living it up. The calamari was the good stuff, and by good stuff I mean tentacles and all. No fried rubber bands here. As we went to the entrees I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye, looking back I would have ordered it rare rather than medium (that's on me), but it was still freakin' delicious. My wife got the Filet and that thing melted in our mouths... Bammmmmm. Never experienced that before. It changed me... Was never a big fan of filets, but apparently it has never been cooked right for me and it's never been prime USDA meat. Moving from steaks we ordered the brussel sprouts with bacon and the lobster mac and cheese. Queue Disney's song "A Whole New World" and that's how I felt in the moment. I've got lobster hanging out of my mouth, steak juices dripping off my fork and onto my shirt, beer in my glass, my wife and I are laughing and having a very fun conversation. I'll just drop the mic and leave it right there. Just let it sink in... this could be you.

October 14, 2020 I received a call from the manager at Ruth Chris a few days after our visit in September. He was sorry to hear our experience was disappointing, assured me it was not the norm, & asked if we would please give them another try. We went back last night, & I must say, it was outstanding! Food was spot on, service was top notch, a true 5 star dining experience. Shout out to Don our exceptional server & his helper Ryan. Had an excellent meal & will return in the future. Thanks to your entire staff Barron, for the lovely evening!

September 20,2020 We retired from Tampa where we have Bern Steak House, so this was our first visit ever to a Ruth Chris. It was a special occasion, celebrating our 30th. Left unimpressed & a little sad with the entire experience. Cedric was nice & the service was OK, but it missed the mark somehow. Perhaps just an off night, everybody has one. I sure did, from getting a cold shower when the ice water hit the booth I was sitting on instead of my glass to the unpleasant smell of the table. I had an eastern Manhattan, the taste was heavy on ginger & sour mix. As for the food, I love lobster bisque, but found it a tad bland & fishy. I made a point of asking how to order my steak so it would be cooked well enough for my tastes. Cool pink center is as rare as I can go, I need my food cooked. The first thing I did when the meal was served, was cut the steak in half to check the doneness. I knew immediately it needed more time. I looked up & said, "sorry, but this isn't done enough" & this is when he lost me, his reply was, "your plate is 500 degrees, flip it over & it will cook". I did, but it didn't. I took a bite of shrimp instead, it was also undercooked for my tastes. When he finally returned to the table & I told him there was nothing on the plate cooked enough for me to eat, I seemed to have his attention. Service improved greatly at that point. The sides were very good & generous, & hubby commented he thought the salad dressing was outstanding. That made me laugh, really? The salad dressing was the highlight for you? As my hubby was finished at this point, I had most of my meal boxed up to take home. We shared a dessert, creme brulee , which was quite nice. The manager did stop by all the tables as we were leaving. I would have loved to have found a place I wanted to return to for special occasions, but this is not it. I would not recommend Ruth Chris Steakhouse to my friends, not even close to value for the $160 we spent. After reflection I'm giving it 3 stars, , if I'd written this review last night it would...

UPDATE 11/6/17- The General Manager personally reached out after my negative experience at Ruth's Chris in Huntsville. He was deeply apologetic and offered to try and correct the wrong. As told by phone, I was not seeking anything in return as my special occasion had passed, I could never get that moment back. The GM persisted and I told him I would never visit his establishment again and I keep my word, this past weekend I utilized the GM's attempt to correct the wrong and passed the invite to a co-worker and his wife for a date night. He appreciated the gift and was able to make a great night out of the evening.

He reported back that the wait staff was very attentive to their needs, and ensured everything was to perfection. As it should be when dining at a restaurant, that tends to hold it's self to a higher standard than most everyday steak houses. This is the feature that allows for you to charge $200.00 +/- for a meal for two! I continue to stand firm with my decision to never conduct business with your restaurant, just as I'll never get my 9th anniversary night back. However, I'm fair and the learning points seem to have been taken and that's all that can be asked for when posting a review.

I'll change my rankings to 4 stars, based off my co-workers experience and hope you will continue to strive to be the high class establishment you have identified yourself as.

Original Post: I took my wife for our 9year anniversary, was told it was a great place and expensive, but worth it.. I was told wrong, if I pay a $150.00 for a meal for two, I expect perfection across the board. Instead The Only Thing that was near perfect was the tenderness of the meat. I never received my drink, nor did I get the steak I ordered. The manager walked and spoke with every table around us, but never stopped to greet or ask how everything was at our table. I would highly recommend going to Costco buying a nice cut of meat there and cook it yourself at home, just sear at high temp. Unfortunately, an anniversary I can't get back, but I know better now. 2 stars just for the...
