Very Disappointing and Unsanitary Experience
I had a terrible experience at King Buffet. While eating, I found at least seven long strands of hair in my food. I showed the server, who acknowledged it and said she would inform the manager. When I went to pay, I asked a woman at the front (short hair, very thin, Asian appearance) if she was the manager, and she confirmed she was.
I explained what happened and that the server had already shown her the hair. Instead of apologizing or showing concern, she tried to justify it by saying that if the hair had been in the sushi, it would’ve been cut — which makes no sense, especially considering the long strands came off my sushi. When I told her that explanation didn’t make sense, I asked for my receipt and chose not to leave a tip, which she seemed to take personally.
She became rude and made a disrespectful comment about how I had “eaten a lot of food,” as if that somehow excused the situation or was meant to shame me. That’s completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I paid for my meal, as anyone would expect, but her attitude and lack of accountability were shocking. She was also rude to my siblings who were with me.
This place clearly has hygiene issues and very poor customer service. I will not be returning, and I hope others are aware of the experience I had before choosing to eat I only paid because I was not going to continue arguing while being disrespected. Your behavior was extremely rude, ignorant, and unprofessional, and I refuse to tolerate that kind of treatment toward me or my family.
At no point were we told about any cameras, but if they do exist, I urge you to review the footage. It will clearly show that your version of events is inaccurate. When we came to you with the plate of sushi that had a hair visibly coming out of it, you dismissed our concerns and became defensive instead of taking accountability.
I never asked for a discount — that was something you assumed while making excuses for everything we brought to your attention. The establishment was also dirty and unsanitary, which only made the situation worse.
You showed no respect or professionalism, and I truly hope your business is held accountable for how it treats...
Read more2022 Review-I've been going to this buffet for years and this is the first time my waiter held a conversation with me regardless of the language barrier. Linda was super sweet and took care of my party and I. We didn't feel rushed or hovered over. Linda wasn't begging/harassing people for a tip. I think many Asian restaurants are replacing individuals that do beg for tips or rush people before they have finished their meal. It's very bad for business and people will go elsewhere. Because of my pass experience I've been going to other Asian buffets, but the meat is 100% better here. I decided to give them another try praying I would have good vibes with my server. Linda did not disappoint and I hope she keeps her positive, light up a room attitude. If I go back I hope I have Linda again. I think she should get paid to train other staff members on customer service. Note: Rice & Lomein was barely warm. Area where catfish is, I saw items being overcooked. Temperature settings need to be checked out because I've never seen this at this location.
2022 Review-This location needs to take notes from the SW loop 820 location when it comes to people paying their bill before they sit down to eat. I literally just came back to my table with dessert when an older lady that works there brings me the bill and stands over me waiting to be paid. I hate when people do that, plus I'm in the middle of eating. I will say that customer service is usually better at this location but the sushi is not as good as it use to be. Please have people pay before they eat like other buffets. If customers want to give a tip they can hand out cash. Note: If you come during lunch hours and get your check around dinner they will charge you for dinner even if you just eat the items from the lunch buffet. Make sure you pay ahead before dinner...
Read moreI came here today with a group of friends, and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.
Right from the start, there were cleanliness issues. One of my friends found a piece of orange paper—similar to a torn salt packet—at the bottom of their water cup. I also ordered water, and mine had small black crumbs floating in it. This made us immediately question the hygiene and cleanliness of the drinkware and overall environment.
As for the food, it was decent—some items were good, others were average. Nothing particularly stood out, but we weren’t necessarily disappointed with the buffet options.
The biggest issue, though, came at the end of our meal. The server who had been bringing our drinks became very demanding when it came time to pay and tip. We were unsure how to fill out the tip section, and when we entered an amount that she apparently didn’t like, she gave us a very rude look, walked off without a word, and then began pointing at us and talking about us to another staff member within view.
We always try to be respectful diners, and it’s uncomfortable to feel disrespected over something like tipping—especially when the service wasn’t exceptional to begin with.
There’s potential here, but between the drink cleanliness and the unprofessional behavior at the end, I’m not sure we’ll be returning...
