Today was my third visit and each time I have tried something different. When I'm in the area I've made it a point to stop in. I like that they bring out chips and salsa when you dine in. Be warned, it takes a while to get your drinks and the red and green salsas have a pretty good burn to them. My first time here I had a al pastor torta and it was very good. It had a little gristle but, has a good taste. I was pleased by the portion also.
My second time I had the red enchhiladas. I was surprised when told I could have any of the meats in my three enchiladas so, I gave it a try. I got one carnita, one chicken and one ground beef. I have to say my enchiladas didn't look as great as some pictured here but, I love enchiladas so I was anxious to try them. I had the chicken first and was put off because it was very dry and chewy and hard to eat. Then I tried the carnita and to be honest, I thought I got steak by accident. It wasn't until I cut in to the last enchilada seeing it was ground beef that I realized it was the carnita. It was hard to chew so, I was equally disappointed. Both meats were dried out as if they were cooked and then reheated too long. When I got to the ground beef enchilada I was not as disappointed but, I'm not a fan of carrots and peas in meat. Aside from that, the ground beef was the easiest to chew. It wasn't dried out like the other two.
My third visit I almost got another torta but, decided on an al pastor burrito. The burrito is a good portion and the al pastor was again a good choice. I learned my lesson with the enchiladas but, that won't keep me from coming again. Next time I may just get a few of the tacos with the al...
Read moreAte breakfast there on Sunday and ordered a Desayuno burrito. We have eaten here a few times since they opened and had never had a problem. I had eaten al little more than half my burrito when I felt a hair in my mouth. I pulled it out and noticed it was a long silver/gray/blonde color. I immediately ask my dad to verify that it was a hair and he agreed. I went up to the counter and said calmly "Not to raise a scandal but I found this in my burrito" I handed her my plate and the hair. She didn't say a word. I go back to my table and about three minutes later she comes back and says "None of us back here have gray hair are you sure it's not yours?" This hair was easily three times the length of my hair so yes I was sure it was not mine (plus it was embedded into a burrito...how would my hair get into a closed tortilla?) I told her that I noticed that one of the cooks (wearing a hair net) had long dyed blond hair that it probably came from her. She said well her hair is blonde so... After that she walked away. No apology or anything. Once my dad was done eating, we go up to pay and she charged us for the whole meal!!! I asked her why she was charging us for the whole meal when my food had a hair cooked in it? She said well you ate most of your food so I have to charge you....I said of course I ate most of my food that's what I do when I buy something to eat and I did not notice the hair until most of the burrito was consumed. In the end she still charged my dad the full cost of the meal while snidely blaming me for the hair. No apology or anything even close to customer service...Never...
Read moreI normally love Mexican food. The burritos buried under melted monterey jack cheese, red sauce, accompanied with a side of creamy beans and sour cream are mouth watering. Additionally, I especially enjoy the peppy atmosphere with fun, vivid multi-colored decor, and lively music. However, this was far from my ghastly experience.
In ordering the smothered burrito great expectations were quickly dashed. (The place seemed lifeless). The inept server could not speak English, and did not attempt to communicate even though I speak moderate Spanish. The other unprofessional waitress brought out a dry overcooked chicken dish with large chunks of fat, bones, and gristle mixed in with its tortilla, minus beans and sour cream. The woman only once asked me about my needs, and seemed utterly shocked when I showed her the completely inedible dinner.
After considerable time, the disinterested manager seemed apathetic when I was explaining the very poor dining experience. Although, she did not require payment for the 1/4 eaten dish, which was disgusting. (Now, my stomach feels queasy, which is also a first after eating food in a restaurant).
Truly, I felt like a nuisance as a paying customer. With this being my first time, I will not frequent the establishment again. And, I feel sorry for those who believe that such poor service/food quality is...
