Poor service at the bar. Waited 5-10 minutes to be acknowledged, then it was a long time server who was friendly as always, but she wasn't responsible for the bar stools. We should've moved to a booth but never expected the "Where's Waldo?" bartender. When the lady came out from the back of the house, my friend asked if there was a $1 margarita special. The bar gal stared at my friend and said, "No." So she asked for prices of the margaritas they did offer. No drink, food menus were offered, although we could've reached over the bar to get some, but that wasn't our responsibility. Pricing for margaritas started at $7.00 which was humorous by that time. Bar brought chips and salsa and I ordered a medium queso, and finally decided the $3.50 mug o'rita was our best bet. Now, after a few chips, we needed our drinks. Drinks arrived with the queso. We then asked for two glasses of water and ran out of chips. When the bar came back out from the back of the house, I said , "We are ready for our ticket" which was in my hands almost before I ended the sentence. Too bad that was the fastest part of our visit. My friend put a $20 bill down to pay the $13 tab, and received seven $1 bills as the change she told me as we walked out the door. I said , "She knew how to try for a larger tip than $2 because tipping $5 on a $13 bill probably wasn't going to happen. So I asked if she left $3, $4 for the tip. She pulled out all seven bills and counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... and said she tipped her as well as she did taking care of us, which will be the last time we go back for a...
Read moreFood was fine, but we likely won’t be going back as there are too many great Mexican restaurants in town to spend time and money at a place with middling food and some frustrating aspects.
I had the Enchilada Monterrey. First off, it was super small and skinny. Not Taquito-skinny, but halfway between a normal enchilada size and a Taquito. I almost wonder if there was supposed to be two of them and the kitchen forgot one. My wife’s enchilada (Steak-something) was twice the size of mine.
The other odd thing was they had an upgrade for the Enchilada Monterrey called “Add Fajita Chicken”. Like a normal person, I thought that meant that they would add additional Fajita Chicken on the side or give a double meat portion, but it was actually swapping out the normal chicken in the enchilada and “upgrading” it to fajita chicken. So it was very poorly worded, I thought. It should be “Substitute Fajita Chicken” or “Upgrade Fajita Chicken” because it certainly wasn’t any adding of additional chicken.
Finally their black beans were so bland and watery, I’m 80% certain that somebody had too much on their plate and simply forgot to add the seasoning. It tasted nothing like the savory, flavorful Mexican-style black beans I’m used to. There wasn’t even a touch of salt, it was just beans and water, not a hint of any other flavor.
Fortunately my wife’s enchilada was delicious and she wasn’t that hungry, so I was able to finish hers off. If I hadn’t, I would have left very hungry and disgruntled. Once again, the size difference in our similarly-priced enchiladas was...
Read more🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Carlos O’ Kelly’s has become one of my go-to spots for consistently delicious Mexican food and a welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with friendly smiles and fast service. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, and they truly make you feel at home.
Let’s talk about the food—everything is bursting with flavor. The chips and salsa are always fresh and addictive (honestly could eat a whole basket myself), and the queso is next-level good. I highly recommend the Chicken Picado or the Enchiladas de Monterrey — the portions are generous, the ingredients are always fresh, and everything comes out hot and fast.
Drinks? Carlos doesn’t disappoint. Their margaritas are strong, tasty, and come in all the right flavors — classic lime, strawberry, mango, you name it.
On top of all that, the restaurant is clean, the vibe is relaxed, and they’re family-friendly. Whether it’s a casual dinner, lunch with coworkers, or a birthday celebration, Carlos O’ Kelly’s hits the mark every time.
If you’re in the mood for flavorful, satisfying Mexican food in a fun and friendly setting, you can’t go wrong here. We keep coming back — and I always leave...
