ā€œDoughboys on 71st Streetā€ is a hidden culinary treasure, and it’s more than just a restaurant; it’s a community gem that serves up not only incredible food but also a sense of togetherness. This black-owned eatery has quickly become a neighborhood favorite, and it’s not hard to see why.The star of the show at Doughboys has to be their catfish and spaghetti. It’s a unique combination that packs a flavorful punch. The catfish is perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with their signature spaghetti, it’s a match made in food heaven. The flavors are a delightful mix of Southern and Italian influences, creating a dish that’s truly unforgettable.

To be frank the food is delicious šŸ˜‹šŸ„°but the portion was not worth 25 dollarsšŸ¤‘ I brought a Spaghetti and jumbo shrimp(6) plate with a Judy Juice & when I received my plate, I thought it was a little light but I got home opened my plate😳 and just say this, I would not eat here again. I know times are tight for everyone but fr doe it was bogus. Don't get me wrong like I said the food was tasty šŸ˜‹ but I expected to receive my money worth maybe it's me but when I have to pay $20 and up for my take out food, let it be the right portions.

I try to find the positive in everything. First, the customer service was awesome. Friendly staff. Even though they forgot my salad, the service was a positive experience.

Food-my spaghetti was VERY dry and lacked meat. The flavor was fine, just dry. I’m not use to dry spaghetti. I also didn’t order veggie spaghetti. The catfish was not catfish. It was Swai. I grew up on catfish steaks, fillets and nuggets and that’s was not catfish. I am disappointed they advertise catfish..The nuggets are cut up Swai filets. The fish and fries also lacked flavor. None! The fries were soggy. I realize I didn’t eat them hot. I requested they be cooked hard for this reason. The jive nacho dip was not the best and again lacked meat. The nacho chips were TOO salty.

Outside-I realize we are still in a pandemic. However, it’s 26 degrees in Chicago and you can’t enter the restaurant. A table is blocking the entrance. You either go back to your car, or wait outside. The neighborhood is not the best, or savory.

I hope these things change. I read other reviews. The food was too salty for many people. Where’s the middle ground? I drove 1 hour one way for the food.

Maybe, it was an off day? I was not impressed; however, keep the positive attitudes. Make improvements with the...

So my partner and I are food reviewers and we purposely went into this establishment without telling them that we review food as a profession because we wanted to get the food that they served to the public And not ā€œinfluencersā€. Here’s my review: the red beans with rice and the macaroni tasted like they were from yesterday, the fried chicken was dry and overcooked, the greens were fresh but lacking seasoning, the ā€œcatfishā€ was Swai and there was more breading than fish, the herbal wings were OK, the spaghedough was good, the cornbread was a bit dry but very good, the sour cream cake was very good as well, and the Judy juice was a 10 out of 10šŸ”„ they took over an hour to give me my jerk salad after previously telling me that it would take 20 minutes— the salad had a lot of chicken, which was great but no other ingredients other than peppers and lettuce🄲 no cheese, no boiled egg, no cucumber to balance out the spice. Overall experience, 6 out of 10 would not recommend. We drove a total of a 2 1/2 hours for food that was subpar—this food was not worth $73 but the customer service was GREAT! They deserved the 20% tip that I left for their...

This was my first time coming here. I found them because they were close to where I live. I got the #2 combo: 2 catfish fillets, spaghetti, a side salad, and roll. The catfish and spaghetti was good. I liked how it came with a salad instead of a typical fry. You actually get decent sides. The only issue was that my roll had mold on it. I was very disappointed because I had already took a lil piece off of it. It had green on the roll. So even tho the food was good, having the moldy bread in with my food turned my stomach. I don’t know if someone is checking the freshness of the food but after seeing mold the food wasn’t as good as it was before and it was a constant reminder of why I just stay at the crib and cook. It’s thought I would treat myself and then it’s moldy bread in the same box with my food. Had high hopes as they fish and spaghetti was good. But disappointed about the...
