I write this disappointing review of Roti, Hyde Park, on the evening of Monday, January 30th, 2023. We had been fans of Roti for several years - enjoying the generous portions, attention to detail, tasty options, and reasonable prices. Today was the point where we have sadly had our last Roti meal. The meal sizes have steadily been shrinking (I would estimate at least by 30% if not more). We ordered online for pickup - that in itself wasn't a problem. After we got home, we discovered several items we had ordered were not there, and looking at the receipt, saw that we were charged for them (falafel was one of them if you must know). We called about this and the lady that answered either didn't really care, or had no power to make it right, but said that they were out of the falafel all day (but they still charged us for it!). Pessimistically, I would imagine most people just let it slide as it is too much trouble to complain, take the food back, and wait for them to make it right. All she told us was that we should go back to the app and request a refund after taking a picture. Well, if there was a way to do this, it was not obvious with the app suffering from what we often see nowadays as 'make it difficult to complain' by hiding the feature that lets you do this. Sadly, Roti has reached a stage where they don't seem to do sufficient business to offer high quality service and food - suggesting bad management and/or declining interest in their restaurant. Either way, it seems Roti will soon sink into the noise level of mediocre restaurants, or will further cut back on other aspects.
