On Monday I took my cousin for a belated birthday lunch. We went to Chow and ordered the salads from the Good Burger. The young man took our orders and said the salads would be out shortly. We went and sat down at a table and waited and he finally came over and said that they were out of the spring mix lettuce that they use for the salads. We asked what kind of other lettuce they had and he said the kind they use for the hamburgers, green leaf lettuce. We said okay just take that then and chop it up and use that lettuce. He finally brought the salads out to us in small styrofoam containers and there were maybe 6 lettuce leaves somewhat chopped between the two of us. When I ordered my salad I asked for no red onion and when my salad came it had rings of red onion on it. He took that away and came back after taking the onion off. I remarked to him then how tiny the salads were for the price we were paying for each salad. The salads where $8.87 a piece. My cousin had a piece of lettuce leaf in her salad that looked like it had been beaten to death. The cheese that was on the salad was sliced cheese like would go on the hamburger and torn up little pieces and thrown on the salad. The bacon that was supposed to be on each salad looked like maybe one half a slice of bacon between the two of our salads. The grilled chicken on the salad was greasy. This young man had no idea how to make a salad. After I remarked to him how tiny the salads were for the price he just Shrugged his shoulders mumbled something and walked back to the kitchen. Neither my cousin or I had ever been to Chow before and you can bet we will never go back again. I don't know if this young man had been trained on how to make a salad but it didn't appear so. I would have been embarrassed to sell someone a salad that looked like...
Read moreI've been going to Chow for almost a month and I absolutely love ths place! Everyone who works there are always so welcoming and friendly. My very first time in there I went straight for their gelato stand and tried the strawberry flavor. It was the first I ever tried gelato and I loved it. The woman who worked the stand made me feel so comfortable and relaxed that I decided I would absolutely be going again the next day. I always go to the Goodburger stand because I love burgers. My favorite is the Nick Burger which has bacon, avocado, and ranch. I've even tried an ice cream float which was super good, I tried it with orange Fanta since they were out of root beer. The girl who works there every Saturday is awesome. She works very hard to help every customer in a timely manner and to make sure they're happy with their order. She does a great job. I go once during the week after work to Something Sweet for a coffee. I always get one of the scones with my coffee, those things are so good. I love going to Chow to read, or do some writing. It's very family friendly, I always see little kids there. I've seen them set up a table or two for painting, though I haven't done that myself yet. It's a great place to hang out, or catch a game during the season, in...
Read moreWhile out to dinner with my grandmother, we stumbled upon Chow after realizing the Chinese restaurant next door was temporarily closed! But boy! Did we enjoy exploring Chow! Upon walking in we were marveled at the cleanliness and modern minimalist layout of the bar and surrounding eateries/gift shop. We decided to eat at Aladdin (the Egyptian cuisine). The menu options were good and the employees were friendly and helpful. I ordered a Falafel and my grandma ordered a Kabob. The name of the friendly employee that helped us is Jordan :) The prices were affordable but in our opinion the quality of food was a direct relation to the price. I believe my Falafel dish was about $8 (tax included) and her Kabob was about $9.50. Considering my grandmother spent a good portion of her life in Cairo and had just recently visited, the food was somewhat disappointing but still alright. The do-it-yourself soft drink machine was a nice touch and we both enjoyed some diet-coke along with the custom flavors you can add. Definitely will visit again and bring a book! As there are comfortable couches, tables and seats to relax/study/read in. Boise is growing! And it's a great place to be....
