Elmhurst location let’s say never been a fan but, now I don’t think I’ll return…. Most beers we asked for weren’t available since the supplier hadn’t made a delivery…. Wine choice was down to 1. Settled on old fashioned and a glass of wine and when I got the bill there were 2 up charges to the old fashioned which made it exceed $15 for a 4 oz drink topped with ice…. Whoa…. Wine choice was horrible and waitress was told about it and she removed it. Got charged for it as well. $5.50 for a Coors light must be normal for a pizza place these days. Total bill $220 with tip for 4 adults with a small takeout box of pizza left only because it was overloaded with red pepper and when asked we were told that’s how we make them… sorry your not gourmet pizza by any stretch and not worth the cost of the drinks served either
( I’m editing to respond to the owner). Thanks for your response but, let me clear on the added shot charges noticed. It was only requested on 1 drink later not all. The others it wasn’t because when the first was served along with the wine it was immediately sent back to be spruced up. There was little alcohol in the cocktail which you should be able to taste. The server even mentioned the person making the drinks might not be familiar with a old fashion. Regardless we know it all measured and several where inconsistent. Again I usually drink beer with my pizza but, was led to another option not normally consumed with Pizza. Also, I’d say the red pepper on the pizza was over done so I’d talk to the cook and cut back on that. It’s not to difficult for anyone to add more it was inedible for 3 of 4 at the table. If prices in elmhurst on a 12 oz Coors light are such it just reminded me as a 39 yr resident why I don’t go down there now…..but thanks...
Read moreWent to Armand's on 06/06 to order a pizza to go. My wife and I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine while we waited. We were waited on by Diana B. She was rude and condensing towards us. She poured our wine from the bottom of a bottle. After a few sips of I was treated with a mouth full of sediment. There was so much in the bottom of the glass it was undrinkable. When I brought the glass to her attention, she did not offer to do a thing about it. When the check came, I asked if she took the wine of the check. She replied no. Her responses were, "it is not my fault". "You drank half the glass", "There's a pandemic." I replied I'm not blaming you, but you should do the right thing and remove the charge for the wine. She said she would not take off the charge but then said she would remove half the charge " because of inflation". I told her to forget it and I would never be back. She then said she would remove the full charge because she "didn't want to argue" Once again she said it was not her fault that there was sediment. Her final comment to us was "it's because of people like you that places go out of business"
We have been long time customers of Armand's going back to the Elmwood Park days. While we are fans of their pizza there is no reason that we deserved to be treated with such disrespect and what amounted to verbal abuse. We were not rude, did not raise our voices and treated her with respect. There are way to many good places in the Elmhurst area to go for pizza and not get treated like you are a...
Read moreMy parents first went to Armand's in 1958, the year they were married. They were newlyweds back from their honeymoon, and Armand;s (original location) was right around the corner. In fact, one of the reasons I think they bought a house in Northlake in 1972 was because there was an Armand's location in Elmhurst, a manageable distance!
Armand's was always their favorite pizza place. Actually, they wouldn't buy pizza from any other restaurant. The thin crust is perfectly crispy. The sauce is divine, and the toppings are expertly handled, not too little, not too much. Do try the sausage - it's classic and delicious. It's still the standard I hold all other pizzas against. Fortunately for me, my husband has learned to make something similar because the pizza places where I live now are pretty awful.
At the end of June 2017, I took my parents to Armand's one last time before moving them to a senior apartment in the state where I live. They are 82.5 & 81 years old. I kind of doubt they will ever eat pizza again, because we couldn't get them Armand's two states away! Thanks for always being there...
