V's Italiano Ristorante — Restaurant in Independence

This restaurant is an experience! Travel back in time to pure beautiful Italy. Our waitresses were both beautiful and gracious as well as checking on us but not too much. Everyone had a wonderful demeanor and we even got to meet Mrs V's daughter who carries on her parents great legacy of amazing Italian food. The return customers are just as friendly and not a single complaint to be heard anywhere. In fact all we got was suggestions on how great all the food was starting with the meatballs. They were amazing as promised!! The texture was soft like velvet yet light like sponge cake with a gentle red sauce that left you wanting more. I was unsure of what wine to pair with dinner our waitress was so kind she let us sample a few before we decide on one for one of the best dinners I have ever had. My grandmother ordered the fettuccine frutti di mare, which had shrimp and soft not overcooked pieces of lobster. Again, the proof is in the sauce it was the most creamy yet thin sauce allowing you to sample the taste of the ocean and Italy right at your table. I ordered the veel parmigiana and was blown away. When misses V designed this dish her heart was all in it, from the extra crunch and no grease to the melted cheese and home made sauce that tickled my mouth with new and old seasonings of real Italian food you can only get here. I was soooo pleased. I do reviews for a living so when I take time to do a "non-work" review, they have to be pretty special. We started at another restaurant and walked out after sitting at the table for 15 min without being even asked for a drink order so we left and came here to V's. We had never been here before but we will happily return. Wonderful Italian dishes. The fructi de mare and manicotti was exceptional. They also had a wonderful seafood selection, including lobster and yes, escargot. I can't wait to go again. They even had an excellent non-alcoholic wine. Perfect balance on everything with a great, light rum cake served as part of the meal though they also had wonderful offerings like spumoni and tirramisu which I am excited to try next time. We were seated quickly and given water and had our drink orders taken immediately. Our waitress was quick and attentive. I wish I remembered her name. The atmosphere was just right for makingbyou feel cozy and like it was something special all at the same time. There was a wonderful little bar that had quaint Italian decor and there was a pretty little fountain if you wanted to dine outside. There were two minor negatives - the restrooms were downstairs and felt like you were in a broom closet and the side salad was a litte pitiful with an Italian dressing that was too sweet. Was there for my god-daughters 16th birthday and the one lady, I didn't catch her name but I think she was the manager on duty did her best to make things difficult for the birthday party.

First off, she lied to us in saying that they did not have a projector on site... There was obviously a screen that could be used and pulled down but no projector??? After sharing with her that we had spoken with the owner's son who told us there would be a projector, she returned suddenly with a projector.

Then she lied and said it didn't come with the chords to use it... Are you kidding me?! She finally returned with the chords after we persisted that we were told all the necessary chords would be there.

Then a tall table was requested. This same lady appeared and again said we do not have one. There were tall tables just outside of the small room we were given that would have worked perfectly. Eventually, she returned with a small table that was not what we asked for, however, it worked with some adjustments on our part.

I would have given 1 star except the food was decent and the young lady that helped us as a waitress was so perfessional and she was so proficient and she did everything she could to help us have a pleasant experience.
