I had been here before a couple times and always thought it was cool because it was different, but never thought it was incredible. Today we ordered bread and dip, and omelette and French toast w/ bacon. 20 minutes later we get our omelette and “french toast” and told that the bread and dip will be out soon. No bacon. The main reason we ordered the bread was because we were very hungry and it should have come out quick, not 25 minutes later. The French toast was 5 little slices of a baguette with a berry compote blended up, no syrup in sight. The bacon came out 7 minutes later, I was already almost done with my small omelette. It looked like Oscar Meyer thin sliced microwaved dorm room special, 4 little pieces for I believe they charged $6.50 for. The bacon made her feel ill and she had to go outside. I went to pay and the owner said “questions comments concerns?” I just mentioned that she didn’t enjoy her meal, didn’t ask for anything to be taken off or anything. I was ready to pay for it anyways. His reply was that they were a 5 star restaurant and the best restaurant in town! Far off, Sir, I didn’t even mention that my omelette was dry, over cooked and small, and the single “charred tomato” was downright burnt, I had to eat it without bread or toast or anything, it was NOT great, especially not 5 star. And the fact that your bread and dip didn’t come out even with the main dishes proves that you’re far from 5 stars, and the way you spoke to me today certainly loses more stars. If I served someone food and they didn’t like it or eat it I’d never charge them for it, EVER! I wasn’t interested in arguing with the man so I asked him to hurry and run my card that he’s been holding for minutes now so that I could leave. I’d almost give two stars for the sweet wait staff, but his 5 star comment is forcing the 1 from me. It’s a shame my favorite breakfast restaurant four doors down from them had a “could not open today” sign on it, or this whole miserable experience would have never happened. I don’t know that many 5 star restaurants that have this many 1 and 2 star reviews. Maybe choose a different line of defense or an entirely different approach to your customers other...
Read moreWhen we visited for the first time, the breakfast offering was good, not great but not bad. Besides some woman yelling at the owner that she will burn his house down - it was ok.
We love supporting local business that bring something different to the table, gave it a benefit of a doubt and invited a bunch of our european friends to lunch, here is some feedback.
Lunch offering was terrible and way overpriced.
Borsch, made "vegan", if you ask for "beef" option - raw ground beef added. Stuffed cabbage - not fresh, sour, sitting in the fridge for a week is the best way to describe it Yogurt soup - served with missing ingredients, basically yogurt and celery. Green soup - tastes like bouillon cubes diluted with water and beans added Mushroom and beef omelette - canned mushrooms and same raw ground beef added. Goulash, 5 tiny pieces of meat for some $25? Dare to order a bloody mary and it tastes like ketchup with a ton of vodka, looks like brown dirt.
Entirely disappointed, sent dishes back and spoke to the owner about it, all we got in response is "i'll figure out" and got charged for all of it regardless.
You'll still have to wait in line to pay your bill, no table service - Igor handles all transactions.
Prime candidate for kitchen nightmares, ran by what seems to be an egoistic owner. Not an example of good food or fair price for quality of food.
Conclusion: If you are in town and want some decent breakfast with overpriced crepes - it's hard to mess up. If you are here for lunch, please do not think this is what european food is like If you enjoy hospitality, find somewhere more...
Read moreAs expected, the locals/Americans think the food is delicious, etc. Well . . . one can fool the locals/Americans but not the Europeans. The soups are from cans. The crepes are frozen, pre-made. The mushrooms and chicken pastries/pies look appealing, but once you bite into them, you realize the mushrooms are also canned and not even chopped up! The chicken in the pie looks like, how should I put it . . . well . . . it looks like vomit and tastes gross. Sorry, there is no other way to put it. The candy prices are outrageous! One candy for a dollar or seven in a box for $4.50. LOL! And a bag of Jacobs coffee for $20! Seriously?! I order Jacobs coffee online for $8 (same size!). I gave a two-star rating because the owners are friendly and nice, but the food deserves one-star. I was so disappointed and embarrassed too because I brought my two friends to eat there today. I thought this place offered true, authentic, real european food. I can open up a can of borshe and warm it up at home. No need to go to restaurant for that and pay $8 or however much it cost! I make a killer borshe. What I got today was borshe by its name and nothing else. But the locals/americans have no clue what the food is really supposed to taste and/or look like so to them it's good. That's what keeps this business going. The only things that are worth praising are the...
