My wife wanted to have lunch here on her birthday, which was September 28th. We had never been here before, so we had no idea what to expect. Our experience was absolutely wonderful from our experience with the gentlemen who assisted us with valet parking to our amazing server, Rebecca (Becca). There are no indoor seating options, but I believe there are three different outdoor seating areas. One is under a gazebo (where we sat), the next is just below the gazebo level, and I believe there's a 3rd level that is actually on the beach. Because it was breezy that day, we elected to sit under the gazebo rather than at the lower levels that were closer to and on the beach. If there's more of a breeze than there was on the day that we dined (and it was kind of breezy), it might not be that pleasant of an experience. The kettle chips that came with my dining option were actually blowing off the plate. There doesn't appear to be any kind of blinds to block the wind as there are at other oceanside and/or riverside restaurants we have dined at. I would encourage the owners/managers of this restaurant to consider installing something like that, especially considering how often there can be fairly strong onshore winds. Since there is no indoor dining option, please check the weather beforehand. Our server, Becca, is an absolutely delightful young lady! She is the kind of young lady that I would be proud to have as a daughter. She was personable and very knowledgeable about the dining options. Both my wife and I relied heavily upon her recommendations, and neither of us were disappointed. Becca is a rare gem these days where mediocrity seems to be the norm. I worked as a server part-time when we were expecting our third child, so I can appreciate when a server is providing quality service. It is a definite gift to know the difference between being too intrusive or neglectful as a server. Becca achieved the perfect balance, providing just the right amount of service to my wife and I which made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. My wife elected to have the shrimp tacos, which she said were the best that she had ever had. I was torn between the smash burger and the grilled bacon onion sliders. Becca recommended the sliders because of the amazing bacon jam used in assembling the sliders. Based on her recommendation, that is what I chose and I was not disappointed. There were three sliders that were absolutely melt in your mouth tender, cooked to perfection! Becca was not using hyperbole when she said how amazing the bacon jam was. I need to learn how to make that myself. Another benefit to ordering the sliders was that I was only able to eat two, so it was easy for Becca to box up my last uneaten slider and leftover kettle chips that came with it. I doubt that I would have able to eat the entire smash burger, and it would have been less easy to box that up to have at some later date. I neglected to mention that there was a young man there playing live music on an acoustic guitar. He played a variety of genres of music and was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Another thing to mention is that the music was not so loud that it drowned out conversation. We have experienced that at other dining venues. I highly recommend this as a great dining choice, especially for a couple. Again, I would not recommend this as a place to take young children. That is nothing against this establishment, just a matter of...
Read moreBB's is a great addition to the area. The food we had was really well prepared, and the service was excellent. Their staff was friendly, and engaging. The venue was expertly built, and is very well maintained. There are very few like it on Beachside at the southern end of the Barrier Island. Parking can be a bit of an issue, as the amount of spaces available is what makes this venue a bit difficult to get to.
I only gave them 4 Stars for the atmosphere for just a few small issues I saw. Otherwise I would give it 5 Stars. I found two issues on atmosphere that I thought could be improved upon.
Here is what I think could be improved IMO:
1- The music being played when we were there.
I would have hoped for either or: Some light background instrumental jazz type music, OR the classic FL Tiki Bar music (Jimmy Buffet, Zach Brown etc.). They played neither. The patrons were in my age group, (48-68 is what I am guessing), so the music should have been IMO more appropriate to that age group. I was not even sure what was playing in the background, but to me it just didn't fit the otherwise great vibe.
2- The glasses the cocktails come in.
To some, this is nitpicking. However, when my wife ordered a Cosmo, with whatever was their high level vodka, (Ocean in this case as we were told), it should come at least in a plastic martini glass, and not just a simple plastic cup. They should have plastic wine glasses for white, and red wines. They are available anywhere, and if you are going to pay for top dollar alcohol, in a great looking venue, with spectacular ocean views, then add to the decorum with these drinking glasses. Not everything for $12-$20 a glass IMO should be served in cheap plastic cups. Ambiance would be enhanced quite a bit. I get it, no real glass for safety, but the plastic alternatives would be most welcome for a venue as nice as this is.
Other than these two issues IMHO, BB's is a great place for a cocktail, and the food is exceptionally good for a FL venue of this type. We will be...
Read moreI’ve never written a bad review for a place but this was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. That being said, the view was 10/10 and the atmosphere as well, so coming here for drinks and appetizer would probably be great!
This evening at BB’s, my mom and sister split the seafood tower($98), I got the lobster roll, and my dad got the salad. The seafood tower came out, and there was no lobster tails, when the menu said there would be. We asked the waitress and she asked the manager who said they didn’t have lobster tails, so they took $20 off the bill and that was fine (even though they ordered that for the lobster tails). The seafood on the tower was very good though, just probably not with the price and everything could be purchased separately on the menu for cheaper.
The main issue was that my lobster roll and my dad’s salad did not come out until well after the entire seafood tower had been eaten and taken away for a while, and we sat without food asking where it was. By the time it came out, the tables around us who were sat and ordered after us were already done eating. When the food came, I ordered another beer and bit into the lobster roll. It was very burned on the inside and wasn’t exactly a “roll.” It would have probably been good if the bread wasn’t burned, but as half the table was finished eating and had no more food in front of them when I got my food, I opted to just not eat dinner as we had been there so long. I was then brought my second beer, which was the wrong beer entirely.
Overall, atmosphere was 10/10 and the seafood was good. Unfortunately, I didn’t eat because my bread wasn’t good by the time it was finally brought out. Not a great experience overall, but at least we got to...
