I hope this gets to a manager at this store. My granddaughter graduated from North Central yesterday. It was a huge class and a long ceremony so we were all hungry and tired. By the time we got there it was almost 10 pm. When the seven of us came in a very nice lady explained it might take a while. Her and some one in the kitchen were the only ones there due to the others calling in. She was pleasant so we decided to stick around. This woman was working her tail off and didn't complain not one time. I have a lot of family in the restaurant business (Most for over 40 yrs) so I know this is rare. We waited for about 25 minutes. The whole time she was on the move. Bussing tables, serving people, taking orders, getting take out orders and ringing up customers. NOT ONE TIME WAS SHE RUDE OR IMPATIENT WITH ANYONE. When we got seated she was quick to get our drinks and apologetic for the wait. She was patient taking our orders ( a lot more then I was with some of them) and helped make some suggestions that helped move it a long. It didn't take very long for our food to come out. It was hot and the order was right. The only problem with the food was my grandson's waffle. It was hard. Not burnt, just hard. I didn't bother sending it back because he was tired and filled up on bacon. She was good about keeping up with our drinks and checking in on us. It turned out to be a really good night for all of us. I don't remember her name but she was the ONLY one working the floor at 10 pm on May 28th at the Castleton Denny's. She was keeping it clean and running and was one of the nicest people we have had as our server in a long time. I hope that for all the customers sake you all appreciate her and treat her right. My brother would love to have some like her working his place. She was awesome. We will be back due to the treatment we got from her. I wish...
Read moreI feel bad for reviewing this way. It was clear the Denny's we went to was very understaffed. However, what servers they did have were difficult. I was dining with my trans partner and my mother, and we kept being referred to as "ladies" despite several polite corrections. He left feeling disrespected without any way to resolve it.
We originally were seated at a booth table, but my mother is larger, so we attempted to wait to ask to be seated at a table. Our server almost instantly left and didn't come back (the restaurant was empty at this point) when she saw us standing there, and the manager had to step in and tell us we were allowed to re-seat ourselves -- by shouting from his seat.
The manager continually had to step in to take care of serving duties, getting us waters, serving our dishes, etc. This would be fine if he was not moving incredibly slowly. Obviously I don't know if he has a health condition, but the environment felt very careless.
Food was OK, but the chef not wearing a hairnet (we could see her long hair from the kitchen window) threw me off. Portions were small, though, so we managed to eat what we were served. The only meal that actually fit the plate it was served on was the Grand Slam my mother ordered. My Mac n' Brisket Skillet was tiny enough I had to order two sides of toast (both of which arrived undertoasted with unmelted butter), and my partner's Country Fried Steak was small, underseasoned, and left him hungry.
We did try dessert, which one of us was a fan of. The other two of us weren't thrilled by the over-sweetened cheesecake and under-sweetened apple crumble.
I wish I could review this place better! The atmosphere was enjoyably different from most Denny's when I entered. As someone who works in food service, I had to resist the urge to hop up and help them.
Likely not coming back again after this,...
Read moreWorst service ever. Arrived had 7 in group, 4 adults and 3 teens. Placed order and then we waited and waited and waited. Chocolate milk she brought out hot cocoa instead and forgot to bring out a shake, but she went and took care of those but then we waited some more, 40 mins still no food, only 5 tables besides us in entire place. Finally yes waitress shows up or so we thought. " I am sorry I tot slammed and just put in your order." Excuse me you what. So now we are getting really irritated as she forgot to put out order in to begin with. So we asked how long it will be 7-10 min so we wait some more 7 min nothing, 10 min nothing. Finally 12 min later part of our group as we had two different parties in our group decided to cancel order and leave, now we are pushing 15 min later when they say cancel our order we have to go. We all had a 2 hr drive back home we was hungry. So my group was going to wait but asked the waitress did you also cancel our order, yes she snapped I cancelled your entire order, mind you in the kitchen they had just finished with our food but she on her own accord cancelled everything, never once asking if we was all on the same ticket. We waited over an hour and a half in total giving a new waitress the benefit of a doubt, but no worst service ever. As my family left we seen another family walking in and told them good luck we waited an hour and a half and never got our food. As we was pulling away that family decided to leave. Don't waste your time on this place. I know when I travel back down to Indy it is on my black list now of worst places to try and eat at. My family went down the road to a place that besides being busy got us our food...
