I would rank 4.5 stars! Not a full 5 bc their hot salsa is always so inconsistent (and a couple other hopefully helpful feedback items below). The first time I ever went there, the hot salsa was fire and so good with fresh onions and cilantro reminding me of my hometown hot salsa, and ever since it has been a mix of way too smokey flavor or just watery. Shredded chicken tacos are also hit or miss on whether they flavor it enough with the peppers and onions and tomatoes. But overall pretty solid helpings and the regular salsa is great w a little kick that’s not overwhelming for the less spicy-inclined. The service is always quite slow but friendly, the acoustics are crazy in there to hear anything, lighting can be really bad in certain seating areas, and the parking lot is whacky (why I rated it 4 stars). BUT. I got the carnitas fajitas this last visit (pictured) and it was the best meal I’ve had there!! So flavorful and well balanced and cooked. Consistently the best I’ve had in the area for sure though. Thanks El Jaripeo!!

This place had a nice atmosphere. It was a very roomy place. We sat at a booth. The ledge to the window needs some cleaning. It had remnants of food on it. We ordered chicken nacho Supreme. It was ok. We also had mozzarella sticks, it came with a lot of lettuce, tomato, and mozzarella. Wasn't sure what it was for, presentation maybe? It was ok. The nachos and salsa were ok. See a pattern here? Ordered steak fajitas, Pina burrito, steak and shrimp platter, and texas chimichanga. To be honest we all thought the food was on the salty side. The rice wasn't as fluffy as I'm used to at typical Mexican restaurants. Seemed like it was made from long grain rice, whereas I am used to short grain up north. I did enjoy the Pina burrito, it had steak and chicken with grilled pineapple, topped with cheese. It was delicious. The horchata was really good as well. The bathrooms need to be remodeled. The women's smelled like sewage, but it was clean. The men's wasn't as clean according to my hubby. Service was good.

The food is great, but the cleanliness is a bit bad. When we arrived we were sat on a dirty table with crumbs of food and a spill from the previews people. The hostess/waitress never came back to clean, so we requested a different table when she finally came back. On the second table, the lamp had years of dust and spider webs on it, it was pretty noticeable with the bright light it had in it, we looked around and noticed that most of them were like that. This wouldn't have been such a big deal if the lap wasn't on eye sight view. To think that my food was about to be under that lamp was a bit scary but we proceeded to ignore that. I requested plastic silver wear due to my braces, but the plastic was so cheap that it wouldn't even grab on to food. We left shortly after arriving and paid in full, even though we left most of our food behind. This place was a bit disappointing. The huge Horchata drink was my favorite though.

Where to start. Our first time at the El Jaripeo on E. Washington St. We are here on a Friday night 3/9/2018. We came because of a coupon in the mail and figured we'd give it a try. My wife and I were sat with chips and salsa and 1 menu. We waited for about 10-15 minutes before our server came by. While waiting I noticed a table who were rubber necking looking for a server for at least 10 minutes. I got the attention of a staff member and told them the table looked like they needed a server which they did. I walked over to their table and told them I tried to get someone to help them. The couple thanked me when they were leaving and said I saved them 15 minutes of waiting. When our server came, she asked us if we were ready to order before we even ordered our drinks. We ordered the chorizo queso which we enjoyed very much. My wife ordered a frozen house strawberry margarita and I had water. When we got the margarita it tasted like it was missing something. We could taste the tequila and strawberry but nothing else. The server came by and I told her it tasted like it was missing triple sec and sweet and sour. She informed us it does not come with that....Suffice it to say the margarita went back. Now for the meat of the review. My wife ordered the Texas fajitas and I ordered the Hot and spicy burrito. The beef tips on the hot and spicy burrito were dry and overcooked. Unlike its name it was not spicy at all. I had to add hot sauce and salsa. My wife's fajita did not come out sizzling and it came with no cheese. Just pico, guac, sour cream and lettuce with beans. Chips and salsa was good. I'm giving the restaurant 2 stars for the queso and the interior decoration and that's it. Our first time here was a bust and we will not be returning. Funny enough the family sitting next to us also told us they will not be coming back due to the poor service, food, and drink. The best part of our night was conversing with the couple and family about how poor the...

Server sat me at a dirty table, before I could say anything she turned away in her green shirt and left. I walked back up to the front and asked to be sat elsewhere. The blue shirted lady gave me a puzzled look and pointed to the dirty table I was recently sat at. I informed her the table was dirty and she politely asked where I would like to sit. I asked if I could be near the window. She calmly said yes and proceeded to a booth by the window. As I sat there in my new clean window seat, I noticed I was in the section of the initial green shirted server. She noticed who I was, and for the next 4.36 minutes decided to act like I was not there. At 7 minutes a purple shirted server came over and asked if I had been helped, I informed the purpled shirted server that I had not and I am ready to order. I placed my order food came out rather quickly! I was impressed until I began to eat. The beans were cold and the salad was warm. I tried to stomach the meal hoping the purple shirted server would come back by for a 2 minute 2 bite check back, yet that was not the case 8.42 minutes went by and I was fed up. The purple shirted server finally came by....I asked for the check, walked to the front to pay. As I walked up I noticed the initial green shirted server that sat me at the dirty table and refused service to me was behind the register closing out customers. She looked up and spotted me next in line, at this point she walked away from the register and tried to avoid me again. I politely informed her she sat me at a dirty table. She apologized in a cruel demeanor and proceeded to brush my arm with her hand as if this was ok. I felt utterly disappointed and disgusted with this experience. As I turned away with disappointment and disgust on my face, I proceeded to pay the black shirted server for my warm salad and cold beans.. I will never return to this...

I had the Carne Asada El Jaripeo Grilled steak with onions, toreado with rice and beans with tortillas. Not knowing the surprise of the steak were extremely thin cut steaks. The rice and beans were good, tortillas on the side were hot and ready and the onions grilled perfectly. I was dissatisfied because the server didn’t know what kind of steak I was getting nor did she know the size of it. The picture in the menu did not the same in person and this is were the rating drops.

The server did not ask me how I wanted my steak The were extremely thin for the price smh The steak was extremely dry and cooked well done The streak was not tender nor juicy The steak did have gray spots as if it was sat out too long before it was cooked or it was sitting in a warm room temperature area before cooked or even spoiling before being cooked.

These things I explained to the server and the host and no tried to help or ask if I wanted anything else. That’s were the customer service and food drops for me.

I came in at a good time around 6pm Wednesday evening. We sat down and literally was forgotten about for 12min without drinks. The chips were NOT fresh but yet cold but the salsa was decently good.

After getting our drinks after 12min we didn’t get straws either for another 5minutes lol smh …..

Highly disappointed on my 3rd visit here. Y’all have to do better...
