Fat Man's BBQ — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Let me say I've been really anxious to try this place. I love BBQ! But man was this a disappointment.

I got the pulled pork sandwich dinner with baked beans and Mac and cheese as the side. There was hardly any pork on the sandwich but a ton on bbq sauce. The beans themselves were actually good and maybe the best thing I ate but very little of them. The Mac and cheese was so bland and generic, it taste like typical fast food/cafeteria Mac and cheese.

Next was the brisket. There was only 3 slices and they really thick sliced and slices with the grain of the meat (anyone that knows bbq knows this is a no no), and the brisket was very tough and dry. The taste of the smoke was good but barely there and there was no seasoning or spice other than a smothering of bbq sauce. Terrible.

Lastly we get to the ribs. When I got home and looked at the receipt I was charged extra for bread (on 2 dishes) which I didn't get nor wanted, also the full slab of ribs is 28.99 and I was charged 30.15 (i posted pics of the menu and prices). So looks like they charged extra just cause I guess. The ribs like the brisket were very dry, tough, no seasoning or taste to them (couldn't even taste the smoke), and the membrane was left on (again anyone that knows bbq knows you shouldn't do this). I paid a lot of money for really bad tasteless dry bbq. I don't know if it was an off day or this is how they operate, either way I won't be back to gamble $70 on terrible bbq. Also looks like maybe family and friends leaving 5 star reviews for them? Some were posted before they were open...

INSTEAD OF RESPONDING TO MY REVIEW THAT WAY THEY DELETED IT. WOULD YOU TRUST A PLACE THAT DELETED NEGATIVE REVIEWS TO REMAKE YOUR FOOD WHEN THEY KNOW YOU LEFT A BAD REVIEW? Let me start by saying I order from the place on doordash at least once a week for the past 9 weeks. At first I would order a large rib tip sauce on the side mac and cheese and greens. The greens are hit or miss, most of the time miss. The mac and cheese always has burnt pieces but I eat around it. I recently started ordering mac and cheese and potato salad. Now the majority of these ribs are tough as hell and you cant even chew them. But I still ordered because the ones that were perfect made it worth it to me. Today 7/3/24 I ordered at 7pm. I am watching my calories and I saved calories JUST for this meal. Got my order and it had sauce on my ribs. I called the store and the employee told me to call doordash because they hadnt been paid for the order yet since the order was placed today. I was honestly shocked, I have spent almost $300 at this establishment for them to not do anything about the order. I will NEVER order...

I found this establishment googling a new BBQ place to try near my location. I decoded to go give it a try. I will say walking in was a good sight nice clean. 2 door dashers were picking up orders. What popped out at me was the turkey tips. I had never had them and I expressed that to the owner(I believe he was owner) he allowed my friend and I to sample the turkey tips. I will say I may not have chosen them if he had not allowed us to sample them. I love that . That to me is passion for good service. That did make me feel more welcomed with that type of hospitality. You do not get that often in this day and time. I came is around time before lunch special ended. There were not any inside dining. This seems to be a family owned establishment. Not sure if there are others in any other locations. I did purchase the Turkey tip dinner . It comes with 2 sides. I choose the collard greens and mac and cheese. He asked if I like banana pudding. I said it depends. He allowed me to sample it. The sides are small. I will leave video of my review on all of the items and how they were for me. Oh the tenderness of the turkey was hit or miss. Some pieces were decent others were very tough Overall...will I return...hmmm I just might to try...
