I thought it was one of the best meals I've ever had, but you know how that goes; maybe I was just really hungry. Everything, from the greeting by Ally and Emily to the whole experience, was exceptional!
Sometimes a meal hits you just right, and I wondered, was it really that good? My wife agreed with me about the food, but we decided to invite our friends who are excellent cooks and well-known foodies to see if they agreed.
The service was great, and the team at Flower Child seemed genuinely happy to help us find our best meal choices. We made our selections, and the food arrived quickly. Our boisterous conversation began to quiet as we settled into the meal.
The feedback started coming in from our friends, and they were impressed! The food was unique, with different flavor profiles that all came together to make a memorable meal.
The atmosphere and decor are fresh and vibrant. They don't tell you when you visit their website that the service level is exceptionally high. It's the level of service you expect at a sit-down restaurant where you are tipping the server. The plates are cleared, additional items brought as you have need of them, and it's all done with a smile, often before you even need to ask. A special thanks to Brooke for her VIP-level care and service.
At the end of the meal, after the delicious desserts were finished, my friends started talking about the fact that they would come back.
A special shout-out to Danielle for helping me bring home a special treat for my wife during a hard day. To add excellence to it all, this was the second time she helped me out and went above and beyond in kindness and customer service!
As we left, we were given a warm and heartfelt goodbye by Ally and Emily. They made sure to ask if we needed any desserts to take with us, and yes, we did. The experience was so good, and we are already planning our next visit.
It's Panera style prices with food that is almost...

We showed up around 1 PM on a busy afternoon. None of us had been before, and first impressions were mixed.
Parking: It’s free, but a hassle. One way in and out, and if the lot is full, you’re stuck backing out—not ideal.
Set-up: You order at the front, grab your own drinks, and the food is brought to your table. Everything else? You’re on your own. Not a fan of the format—I prefer full service. No soft drinks either, just teas and other unusual options. Thankfully, cold water was available.
Food: I went with the chicken entrée—it comes with two sides. I picked sweet corn and mashed potatoes. The corn was the best part of the dish. The plate looked bland, but surprisingly tasted good. The chicken portion was tiny and slightly pink, which didn’t sit well with me. I ate it cautiously—so far, so good.
One friend had the Ginger Miso Crunch Salad with salmon—she really liked it. My wife ordered the Chicken & Shrimp Meatball Bowl, which was solid but not a standout.
We sampled a few extras: • Kung Pao Cauliflower – not good at all. • Moroccan Sweet Potato Soup – bland and oddly similar to Campbell’s vegetable soup. • Lemon Cake – unexpectedly great. One of the few highlights.
Overall: The ladies liked it more than I did. For me, nothing stood out enough to come back. The concept is interesting, but the execution didn’t...
Read moreI was very excited to see a new vegetarian-friendly restaurant pop up on the north side, and Flower Child blew me away.
The menu has a diverse array of bowls, wraps, salads, and entrees with and without meat. My husband loved his chicken enchilada bowl, but I think the entree + 2 sides is the star of the show. There are quite a few protein options including tofu and steak, and a LOT of side options ranging from yuzu brussels sprouts to mac and cheese. There are tons of potential combinations.
I got tofu with roasted broccoli and mashed potatoes. It's difficult to describe just how satisfying the meal was. It tasted like my grandma might have cooked it, even though she never, ever made tofu. Some kind of magic was involved in the making of this tofu. It comes in thinly-sliced little squares reminiscent of a shaved roast meat. The perfect mashed potatoes and the tangy broccoli made for a savory delight, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single bite.
The service was also impressively fast. Even with a line to order and several take-out folks waiting, we got our food in less than ten minutes. It was all hot and tasty.
I can't wait to come back and try...
