Food King Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Unfortunately, Food King did not fulfill their advertised "sincere" customer service promise or my food order this evening. They have been proactively promoting how they would be open on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve and encouraged loyal customers to come on in. I was skeptical about ordering take out, particularly on what I assumed would be a busy night, because Food King has increasingly not had food available when promised recently. But, I went ahead and placed an order for my hungry family and they said it would be ready in 30 to 45 minutes. Because of recent experences with longer wait times, I gave them almost an extra 45 minutes before arriving so I didn't have to wait too long. Unfortunately, when I arrived nearly an hour and a half after placing my order I could tell by the faces of the people waiting for food that tonight was going to be another bad night for the Food King promise. After waiting in a long line for another 20 minutes the front desk crew had a hard time even finding my call-in order, and when they finally did, they said; "we can start cooking it now." Really? Since I'd already given them nearly an extra hour, I said I did not have another 30-45 minutes to spare and left. I have given them a 2 star overall rating instead of 1 because it was Christmas evening; however, I am posting this review in the hope they will read it and learn from their mistakes. If it's going to take over 2 hours to prepare my meal, tell me that so I can make an informed decision. Food is always pretty good, but they need to improve their processes in an effort to at least meet the expectations they set. I won't be ordering again anytime soon, and suggest anyone planning to order carry-out on New Year's eve plan on at least 2X the time they provide...

This was my first time eating here. I ordered mixed vegetables and I asked for no onions and no mushrooms but they still put it on there. After eating it I noticed my mouth getting numb but I eat this from other places and never had this happen. They speak very broken English more than any place I’ve ever ate at so they act like they didn’t no what I told them when I repeated it several times. Then they told me the oils was old and had the woman with the kids who is the owner to call me. She started yelling at me saying the oil has never been old as if I was lying about what her worker told me. Then she agreed asked if I wanted it then ti remake it! At this point I will never in Hell ever eat there again. When I went to get my money which Chinese businesses never give money back which is why I know they really messed up! I should call the health department because my throat was sore with mucus and a bump inside my mouth after eating there. They are disgusting and my brother who lives around the corner told me they never eat there after the fact! Sorry about the long post but I still don’t feel right and this...

From all the times that I have ordered there, the food was fresh. I only ordered the shrimp and broccoli combination with the shrimp fried rice and the shrimp egg roll so I can’t speak for everything else. I have also ordered the chicken wings. My wife tried their egg foo young, but was unhappy because the sauce or gravy they put on it was different than the other gravies she had in the past from other restaurants, but she did like the egg foo young itself. Just not the gravy, which they said is a homemade gravy, but in my wife’s opinion, it was too sweet for shrimp Egg foo young. However, when she did complain, they decided to give her shrimp fried rice in place of it which most Chinese restaurants will not do, so I just want to say their customer service...
