We have been here several times. The first time we came we had biked a few miles, and I guess that gave us rose-colored glasses because the food has never been as good as that day. With avocado toast at $10, you are clearly paying for the experience, and today our experience was so bad I will walk straight out if I see the woman who served us today... although, to begin with, I am unlikely to return if the management doesn't address it. Below I detail that, but general comments are that the food will get to you slow and consistency of quality varies - for the hotcakes it is disappointing, for some of the other dishes it will just leave you feeling you've overpaid. The indoor layout also makes it very difficult to avoid door drafts.
Every other time we have been there, we have been amicably greeted by staff without issue. Today, as we came in, an older woman in a purple t-shirt and jeans that looked like a customer came up and cut across the staff member that was going to seat us. She then proceeded to address us and ignore the staff member. When we told her we had a party of three, she said she could seat us at an end table meant for two located on the bench by the register and pull up an extra chair. Since we'd done this every time when we'd been here in the past, I told her we would just rotate the table. She said, something like, "No, it needs to stay as it is," with a condescending tone. I was pretty confused since there was an empty table between it and the party of two on the far side of the bench. As we were sitting and waiting for our food, I tried to understand because the way we were seated actually put the person sitting across from the bench side closer to the table behind us... So in terms of distancing for COVID, it would have been better to let us rotate. In addition, I have worked in food service myself, and I know that moving tables is pretty much never a hard no. The contrast from every other time we'd been here put me in a bad mood. Then, I saw one of the party from the far end go up to the register to talk to this same staff member and seemed dissatisfied. The way the staff member responded to them seemed rude, so I felt more certain that she had a problem. But, here comes the irrefutable evidence! She came to our table to replace our water and reached across the table extremely unprofessionally both to pick up the empty carafe and to place the new one. Later, I had finished my food but there was still the plate in the center we were sharing. She came up and tried to grab the plate right out from under me without saying a word. Only when I reacted did she ask if I still wanted it. She did not apologize for startling me or reaching so aggressively. It was very clear that the table was sharing food. Later after we asked for a box, she grabbed my plate without saying anything at the same time I was reaching to get water. She then proceeded to turn to my brother-in-law sitting directly across from me and ask him, "May I take this?" It was the most passive-aggressive behavior I have ever been subject to by a waitstaff. All three of us were flabbergasted. Originally I thought she was the owner, so I was just planning on not coming back at all... but based on what I found online she is not, so I have no idea where she gets off treating customers this way. I even looked at the website, and there is nothing on the COVID policies about rotating a table. Completely ridiculous to ruin our entire meal over...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit Green Table Restaurant, and I must say it was a delightful experience overall. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant had a cozy ambiance, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating arrangements that made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
The menu at Green Table Restaurant is diverse, offering a range of options to cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. I was impressed by the variety of dishes available, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The presentation of the food was appealing, and the flavors were generally satisfying. While some dishes stood out more than others, overall, the quality of the meals was above average.
The service at Green Table Restaurant was attentive and friendly. The staff members were courteous, knowledgeable, and readily available to assist with any queries or special requests. They seemed genuinely interested in ensuring a pleasant dining experience for every customer. It's worth noting that the wait times for food and beverages were reasonable, contributing to an enjoyable evening without feeling rushed.
The prices at Green Table Restaurant were quite reasonable, considering the overall experience and the quality of the food. I felt that I received good value for my money, especially when compared to similar establishments in the area. However, I must mention that some menu items were priced slightly higher than expected, which prevented me from giving a higher rating.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was satisfactory. The tables and dining areas were well-maintained, and the restrooms were clean and stocked with essentials. I appreciate the efforts made by the staff to maintain a hygienic environment, particularly during these times.
In conclusion, my visit to Green Table Restaurant was a positive one. The pleasant ambiance, diverse menu, attentive service, and reasonable prices make it a worthwhile dining option. Although there were a few minor areas for improvement, overall, I had a satisfying experience and would recommend Green Table Restaurant to those seeking a good meal in a...
Read moreI enjoyed this spot in Broad Ripple for Sunday brunch; although I thought the prices were a bit steep, especially for ordering and paying at a counter. I ordered the sweet potato hash, a juice flight, and a matcha latte.
The sweet potato has was a combination of green apple for some crunch and acid, brussel sprouts, bacon, and poached eggs. I enjoyed the play on textures with the apple. I thought the dish could have used a bit more salt. I think an acidic sauce, like a reduced balsamic, red chile, or a tomatillo/green chile would have elevated the dish. The eggs were perfectly poached, always a plus.
The juice flight was interesting. It consisted of Neon Nectar, Hot Hoosier, Emerald Elixir, and Lush Love. Neon Nectar was more like an orange juice and was sweet but not too sweet. The Hot Hoosier was a compliment to the meal; a bit of heat, cilantro, and acid from the lime and apple. The Lush Love would be appropriate for a warm afternoon or evening on ice; some sweet from the watermelon, some tang from the grapefruit, and just a hint of basil. The Emerald Elixir was like a post meal mouth cleanse; salinity from the salt, some spice from the black pepper, and mouth cleansing effect of the greens.
The matcha latte was okay but nothing special. I only wish it would have had a decorative swirl on the top.
I would come back for something different. I think the Cubanh-mi sounds interesting...as long as the pickles and mustard can cut through the meat. And some else had the burrito and it looked...
