Herculean Meal Prep — Restaurant in Indianapolis

I am sharing this review based on my most recent experience, not my overall experience with Herculean Meals. Overall, I would give them 4 1/2 stars up to this point because the food is delicious, and I have never had an issue.

My most recent concern is how I took advantage of the $7.99-a-meal deal they offered for the holiday. I placed my order excitedly as I have spent a lot of money over the past 12 months and saw this as a considerable value.

The issue is it wasn’t until I reviewed my credit card statement that I learned that my order for the discounted meals had been refunded. I received no notice that there was a delay or an issue with the meals I selected, and if I had not been diligent with my credit card, it would have been a little while longer before I found out that my order had been canceled. I have used this service before without issue, and to have them cancel the order and not notify me upset me. I rely on these meals as my source of food as I do very limited to no grocery shopping because I have budgeted my food money for this company's services. Now, I have to scramble a little to keep my meal planning on track for the dietary needs I have created with these meals.

1-28-25 UPDATE I thought I should update this review as I did end up receiving the meals. Still have not gotten a real answer to why this happened but overall the meals did show up a little over a week later. I am adjusting the review to three stars as this kind of thing should not happen without communication. Somehow they made it right but since I have not been given a real reason, I only bump them up one. AGAIN LET ME STATE THE FOOD IS AMAZING and this review does not reflect my overall experience with this company. I simply go and pick them up now so I don’t have to hassle with the chance my meals might not show up.

Overall, the lifestyle I built around meal planning made me realize I should not rely so heavily on one vendor and should use multiple now. Their loss. If you want to order the meals, go pick them up because they will not value your time and effort in placing a delivery order by not communicating an issue...

I decided to try this service because my friend Jon recommended it and has lost weight using it. I'm you're typical 30 year old working mom. Point blank, I don't have a lot of time to prepare my own meals. I usually end up eating whatever leftovers we had from dinner last night, or ordering out which can get pretty expensive. The price of these meals is cheaper than doing Cluster Truck or Door Dash while also being a lot healthier.

Ordering went off without a hitch. I placed my order around 9am on a Monday morning. I went into the store around 11am and they already had my order ready to be picked up.

One thing I was very pleased with is how well the meals reheat. A lot "frozen dinner" type meals get really soggy, watery, etc. But these meals reheat just like they were freshly made. So far I've had the dijon chicken (amazing!) and pesto chicken (pretty good but I added hot sauce :) ) Next time I'm going to pick up 2 weeks of lunches instead of 1 because they keep well in the freezer for a long time.

I misread the "best by" date on one of my meals and emailed their customer service. He gently corrected me within a few hours of my email, I thought that was pretty cool that he got back to me so quickly.

I'm interested to see how the fish is, I plan on trying BBQ salmon and cod burger next time. Overall this seems way more economical and healthy than what I've been doing so I'm glad I gave this a try!

Based on the first 6 meals I've tried: Mind blowing. This food is GOOD. I was nervous about frozen stuff microwaving and being tasty and fresh but this is just plain DELICIOUS food and wouldn't even think that it was reheated. It doesn't taste "healthy" and certainly not bland. The way they've made flavor magic with these macros is a work of art.

I am fortunate to live 15 minutes from the kitchen so I did in person pickup. The store itself is immaculately clean and organized. There was only one person working there when I arrived and she was stocking the in-store case but immediately greeted me, offered assistance, and was wearing a mask even while no one was in store. I was very impressed. Pickup of my order was smooth and I grabbed for a few additional items. They have a good, modern POS which accepted ApplePay. It was a breeze to get in and out.

Do NOT let the pricing deter you. The ease, flavor, overall experience make this 100% worth it and convinced my partner (picky eater) to also want to start getting meals here on his own.

My only Feedback: Was a little difficult to figure out the rewards vs account online activation side of things. Like making sure I was signed into rewards and then creating an account on site too but they linked. Was a bit funky but could've just been the order I did things. Got it all...
