09/29/24 - Our stay was in June 2022. After 2 years, we are NOT stopping in warning guests about staying in this shady hotel who steals money from guests. This is my 4th updated review and I have added reviews to other sites in hopes to reach more people. PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS. WARNING!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! My husband, 17 year old son and I stayed in this hotel for our son's travel team basketball tournament. I am trying to gather all of the instances where this hotel stole money from guests. Sometimes guests are being charged for an extra night. Or in our case, it was because housekeeping determined we stole the bed comforter, so we received a $75 charge that we had NO control over! And who wants a gross hotel comforter?! When you book a hotel, you agree that they can do this, so BEWARE! Yes, it's only $75 and we know that it could have been a lot worse. It's a fact that they have done this to many guests and some have been charged even more. READ THE REVIEWS! It took weeks for us to even find out what the $75 charge was really for. Initially they told me it was some type of deposit and that it would be credited back. Sounded fishy. And then it took over a month to hear back from a manager who then told me the story about housekeeping. A total lie! But we had no proof or recourse. And we never got our money back. PLEASE take pictures of your room when you leave to show all bedding, towels, etc are all there. They also advertise that their beds are Queen. They are NOT. They are double beds. The manager tried telling us they're Queen size. But in other reviews you can see that others were told that it's incorrect online and should say Double Beds. But they have made no effort to correct it - even 2 years later! Aside from all of this - parking and elevator are horrible. AC not great and rooms not very clean. Definitely needs updating. We have consulted a lawyer to see what can be done about all of the victims and to try and stop this hotel from taking advantage of people! We are also considering talking to the media. We know there are many others out there! Thank you for reading!
*01/21/24 - PLEASE PLEASE READ THESE REVIEWS. This hotel scams people by adding a charge/charges that are NOT valid.
*11/12/23 - PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS!! If you read a positive review, it is likely from a friend or relative of the current manager/owners.
DO NOT STAY HERE.
Pros: Inexpensive for this area. Walkable.
Cons: We had a horrendous experience here. I’ve stayed in a lot of inexpensive accommodations throughout the world and this was surprisingly one of the worst experiences I’ve had - enough so that this is my first google review. As a woman traveling alone, it’s paramount to be aware of the risks of various accommodations, and I’m thankful not everyone who has reviewed this hotel had the same experience as ours.
We were here for a sporting event at Lucas Oil so we chose this place based on availability and proximity to the stadium. We prepaid a 2-queen bedroom. Please be advised that they are NOT queens, they are full beds, so they are significantly smaller than advertised.
There was rarely anyone at the front desk. It advertises that it is key card access into the hotel between 7pm-7am. We came back between 11pm-1am on some of the nights with nobody at the front desk and the automatic doors opening for anyone. From the bus depot a block away, there are definitely groups of people to avoid (drug vials and syringe needles on the ground), but you can try to avoid that by walking on the opposite side of Washington and then crossing back to the hotel side, or walk the backside of the hotel on Maryland but it’s pretty deserted. The area is a bit sketchy, even though there is a Whole Foods a block away in the likely gentrified area of this part of downtown. We recommend taking a Lyft or Uber directly into the hotel drop-off if you are out past 10:00pm especially on a weeknight.
Five days into our 7-day reservation, we had just finished showering and heard a clicking sound of our room door, and a family walked right into our room. They apologized profusely and went down to the front desk to get a different room. When we reported this incident to the front desk, he said that their last name was matching ours and bc of a computer glitch they were given keys to our room (even though they just checked in).
We put down a credit card for $50 incidentals at the beginning of our stay, and checked out a day early (knowing that we wouldn’t get a refund of the last night since it was prepaid). We gave our room number to the front desk man - same guy as the key card situation - and he said all we needed to do was leave our keys.
The next day, I was checking my credit card transactions from our trip, and they’ve been charging me for what looks like the room rate for someone else’s room for the last 5 days. When I called the hotel, they had no record that we had checked out yet and thought we were still there, though this was the morning of our original reservation so we were already paid to the day I called them anyways. The poor lady on the phone couldn’t find/access the record of charges to our room or credit card. Couldn’t find what day and time we originally checked in. No record of checking out. She took my information and said the manager would call me (still haven’t received a call back). I’ve reported the charges to my credit card company and they’ve marked it as fraud, which means they have to issue me a new card. And I travel again in two days!
The other women in our group that stayed at this hotel tried to track down the manager our entire trip bc of the issue of Queen vs Full beds (they had three in their room expecting to share queens, not smaller beds), but got the run around. Another woman was given a room without windows. Another ran out of toilet paper and when she asked the front desk, they told her she would have to wait for housekeeping to go to her room at some point during the day.
This may be cheaper accommodations, but I’ve stayed in red light and rural districts in Asia and Europe, and have never had as many problems as we’ve had with this place. We will also be reporting this business to the better...
Read moreThe review is based entirely on my one night experience. CONDITION: Not so good. Lipstick on a cold sore. PRICE VALUE: $175 cost/quality balance is not aligned. LOCATION: Central to downtown Indy, however it's on a wide busy arterial street corner that gets a lot of stop-go traffic and I could hear it ALL in my room, literally every car, motorcycle, sirens, even drunk conversation-laughing people walking down the street, and I was on the top 3rd floor facing Washington St. I finally got up and checked to make sure there wasn't a window open. It was like I was camping-out on the sidewalk. It quieted down around 2:30/3:00 am so I got around 4hrs sleep (which is the main reason I have a hotel room, right). ELEVATOR: I read the review stating it was small, but then I actually saw it and thought, you've got to be kidding, it's 2 people with suitcases smooshed maximum. 3 people if no luggage. And on checkout day, there was a long line of people waiting on my floor. It took forever, and I thank the nice couple from New Zealand who scooched together and insisted I ride down with them. PARKING: Very limited covered parking and small spaces. The front desk gave me a slip of paper and said if the garage is full (it always was) then park next door in the open lot and follow the directions on the paper which instructs you to text to a number and state your plate#, make/model/color of your vehicle, along with your credit card#, expiration date, and pin #. I did all that and it gives you 12 hrs of free parking, but it also starts counting down. When I was leaving I followed the instructions to end my parking (before the 12 hrs were up and charges would start) but the link kept giving me a "Page not found" error message. I had to spend a lot of time unnecessarily fussing around to send a email message to the damn parking company stating I'm out of the lot and not to charge me for parking. As of today (2 days) I still haven't heard back from them. (The New Zealand couple on their check-in were just told to park next door by the front desk without the instruction sheet and of course they received a ticket) CONCLUSION: For $175 per night the cost-quality balance isn't aligned. I cannot recommend, there are many other options within the downtown Indy area that are similarly priced and are newer/better. I can't believe the 5-star reviews about this place, makes me question the...
