As we walked in, the first thing I noticed was disorganization. The register is about five feet from the main door, so no more than a few people can be in line at a time; the people in line are then blocking new customers from entering. To add to this disorganization, the entire dining area - from the main door to bathroom - was completely crowded. It was apparent that everyone was waiting for their food. However, sitting outside to wait was not an option because there's no way to know when your order is ready.
When we got to the register, we were greeted with "We currently have a 25 minute wait." And when I said that it wasn't a problem, she seemed almost annoyed that we were still going to order. We ordered two shakes and joined the crowd. 25 minutes passed, then 35, then 45.
As we waited, I began to see why there was such a wait. There were three employees, all of whom seemed to simply not care. The main employee preparing the shakes was operating at a snails pace. Sprinkles: perfectly distributed. Whipped cream: at least 15 seconds per shake. I even watched him reposition a cookie on one of the shakes 3 times before setting down everything else in his hands to reposition it with both hands, now. He stopped what he was doing to read something after every step, even after working there for at least a year (which I discovered later). The employee who took our orders disappeared for quite a while. The line didn't move for at least 15 minutes at one point. The third employee, who I couldn't see very well, didn't seem to be trying much harder than the first two.
After sitting in a crowd of frustrated customers for 53 minutes, we finally received our two (very simple) mint chip shakes. However, I couldn't drink it for about 5 minutes because it was so thick. And yes, that was with a thick, colorful, milkshake straw.
Overall, a huge waste of time; I will not be going there again. I heard many other customers sharing similar thoughts as my own. I'm sure the only reason they're still in business is because a tip is requested at the same...
Read moreThis is a great spot in near Northeast Indy in the Mass Ave. area. It's located in an interesting commercial strip with several eateries, specialty shops and boutiques. Our future son-in-law found this spot for us to get a treat after our visit to the Zoo Lights display.
The location was easy to find and street parking was adequate when we visited at around 9 PM on a Saturday. It is a small shop with only three or four tables plus a counter that could seat another three or four persons. The guy working that night was hilarious as he was markedly mellow and certainly a very pleasant fellow.
Putting aside the extracurriculars, however, the ice cream creations were truly noteworthy. Our future son-in-law got the Midnight Cookies and Cream Shake and seemed quite happy with it. But it was a normal serving as opposed to the other two things we got. Our daughter got the ice cream nachos, which was an impressive amount of ice cream over flaky cinnamon sugar chips topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips and chocolate and caramel sauces. It was great. My wife and I split a Bread Pudding covered with Banana Bread Ice Cream. It was also a massive serving that really was meant to share. The Bread Pudding was served warm putting the perfect edge on this delightful creation.
It was not cheap, as the final bill was well over $30 for the ice cream, tax and tip. But let's face it...it was well worth it. It was one of the most enjoyable ice cream treats I've had in a while and the ambiance of the area made it even more agreeable. We'll look forward to trying this...
Read moreStopped in here for a quick dessert while visiting Indy. I want to give it a 1, but am giving it a 2 because the decor and the service were decent, and they have a large enough menu that would make me come back to try something different.
We got two things when we went. The first was the chocolate dipped strawberry shake. Strawberry flavor was very light and it just was not very good. The menu also claims it comes with a fresh dipped strawberry. All they did was spoon a spoonful of what Iâm guessing was strawberry preserves into the center of the whipped cream. No whole strawberry went into it unfortunately. The other thing we got, which makes me want to rate it as a 1 star or less if I could, is the blackberry cobbler. Easily the worst cobbler I have ever eaten in my life. I donât know if it was the addition of what Iâm assuming is an incredibly large amount of nutmeg or something similar, but this cobbler tasted like, what I can only describe as an old dusty book. It was absolutely atrocious. It was served to us barely lukewarm, which quickly cooled with the addition of ice cream. The crust pieces were half baked, so Iâm not sure if it was frozen when it was cooked or what. It was one of the worst desserts I have ever tasted. I donât know how the owner tastes it and thinks it is on par to put on the menu.
I would come back to try the other milkshakes, like the peanut butter meltaway, but I would avoid the cobbler at all costs unless you like the...
