I'll start with the atmosphere was very cozy and date night worthy - but be warned!!! Here's what to expect when you get there. Mind you I've ate at many many on the upscale end of steakhouses and this is definitely one I'm really disappointed in especially for being my first time there.
STEAKS - You'll be greeted by a nice hostess and will have very good service. Other than that, there's some serious downfalls mainly pertaining to steaks which are extremely expensive for what you get and THE MAIN THING that should actually be right. I never mind paying that price but only if it's cooked right the first time. This experience definitely put a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyways .... I've seen a FEW reviews on here recently on how bad the steaks were cooked. Under done or over something is obviously not getting through to the cooking staff. Still they're not able to get it in order here!!!! I ordered a medium steak and received one that was almost medium rare in the middle (it's 7 oz how hard is it?). They took it back and instead of my 7 oz steak they gave me a 10 oz steak which ended up being rare in the middle. I'm not understanding why they KEEP apologizing and promising to do something with staff and cooks and say / do something about it. It's obviously not working on the management side. You cannot charge that much money for a steak and get it wrong for all these people. Obviously you having to to give out all the free food and free gift cards isn't working as an incentive for you to control the kitchen. If you want to be considered somewhere somebody wants to go to get steak I would PASS on it. All the promises to the public don't mean anything if there's no follow-through. By the time they got my order correct he had ate all his l HUGE prime rib and I'm still sitting there waiting to just get my steak. Prime rib is fairly easy to get the right temp so there's the good part for the kitchen and chef 🙄🙄🙄🙄.
SIDES - The sides were good and cooked BUT on top of the whole steaks disaster I also had to send back the broccolini because it came out ice cold. I assume it was sitting there waiting for my steaks to cook. The broccolini had a different taste to it which was a little spicy but definitely complimented it. The mashed potatoes were also good and I can't say enough about the monkey bread. It was delicious. I would love to come back BUT with all these reviews including mine, I don't see a point in it since nothing is being done obviously.
The hotel across the street is pretty ritzy and I would even tell them to totally avoid this place unless you want to spend almost 1 1/2 hours (Yes I timed it because I always give an honest review - tier 8 reviewer - and had saw reviews on the amount of time it took to get service, food and drinks) to eat. It took 8 minutes for my drinks, 20 minutes for the appetizers and the food came out 30 minutes later so you can see how long we sat there and waited and waited for my steak to get right. Should've just went with sides but we saw how that went. I don't need an apology or a promise. Actions speak louder than...
Read moreThe place looks pretty good overall on a general inspection. Some of the details are lacking when you take a closer look. The chairs are a little strange to sit in (the ones with low backs), and there are minor signs of wear and tear on the finishes. However, overall seems they are trying to prioritize the vibe and looks. This same approach crosses over to the food and service. The waiter was poised and expressed himself well. The timing of service was a little slow. The food showed an attempt at thoughtfulness in presentation, but the execution wasn't there. Overall the taste of most of the dishes was lacking. For the price I really expected the food to be well seasoned, which it wasn't. There was not just a lack of salt, but the food was also lacking in seasoning in general. This didn't allow the quality of the ingredients to stand out. This was not the case for EVERY dish. The French onion soup was decently seasoned, but simply lacked a little more depth that I have found at many other places (French onion soup is something I order often at nicer restaurants.) The chicken and waffles had zero spice. The chicken was slightly overcooked, and had no major seasoning. Good chicken and waffles shouldn't have to depend on syrup to be the main flavor component. I asked for cayenne sauce or some chilli flakes. He said they had red pepper flakes which I used. It helped add a little spice, but there was still a lack of overall seasoning to the dish. My wife got the breakfast burrito. I found it to also lack flavor. The eggs were bland, the potatoes had just a little salt, and the chorizo had very mild flavor. The strange thing was the little arugula salad on the side had more flavor because of the well-balanced vinaigrette dressing.
Overall I would say this is a pass for me to come back, which is disappointing since I enjoyed the atmosphere. Get someone to help the kitchen understand how to season and then let me know. I would come back if that happens. Otherwise $100 for two for brunch is way too much for...
Read moreWe came here to celebrate a birthday. They had a singed birthday card ready to present to us when we walked in which was a nice touch. We sat at a table where half the seating was a booth and half chairs (I think most of the tables are set up that way). The chairs are pretty, but not comfortable! They are way too deep, so you are awkwardly slouching back to rest your back or are sitting without back support for the meal. The back cushion on the chair is not attached, so I ended up taking the cushion from the empty chair next to me to fill in the gap. That worked pretty well, but was still not ideal. We got the crème brulée brie appetizer, because as the server stated "how can you go wrong with bread and cheese?" Well, you can go wrong, and it was nothing special. As other reviews mention, the predominant flavor is the sugar crust on the brie. It is served with average tasting bread and a stawberry puree that tasty like mashed frozen strawberries to me. However, the rest of the meal was good. I got an amaretto sour, which wasn't on the cocktail menu but the bar was able to make it anyways. My boyfriend wanted a maitai, but unfortunately they didn't have the necessary ingredients. However he did enjoy the drink he ordered off their regular cocktail menu. For food we ordered the petite sirloin with the bernase sauce and the salmon, both were great. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested. And we got a side of fries to split. The fries came with garlic aioli which was amazing (as were the fries). We got the chocolate mint (grasshopper?) pie for dessert and it was huge! Very tasty but we were pretty full so we couldn't finish it. The cookie crust was very good but very hard to cut through with the spoons given. We probably should have asked for a fork. Our server was great and overall it was a...
