I saw on the news ( I think Dec14th ) The Bottleworks Hotel was opening on the 15th. I booked a room on line for December 25th. I figured since we weren't doing anything with family this would be an alternative. Also thought the hotel will never be cleaner than it is now, no matter how great a job they do. I booked a Guilded King. In the photo on the web page for the room it shows lots of architectural details with steel girders and possibly slanted windows. I never received a confirmation so a day later I emailed to make sure we had reservations. A few hours later I got back an email with a PDF of the reservation, so good to go. I received a phone call the day before informing me they wouldn't be offering any food service on Christmas Day. I was fine with that, I figured due to Covid they weren't doing food anyway. I already planned on bringing our own Christmas dinner since room amenities included a microwave. Christmas day at about 315pm we drove to the hotel. Parking is available in the form of a few spots between the Hotel and Garage, as well as a parking lot behind the hotel. Valet Parking is also available, but Im not having a stranger in my car with Rona still running rampant. We checked in and guys at the front desk all had on masks and were all very friendly. We were directed to our room down a long long long hallway. They have lots of long hallways. We opened our room door and I was immediately disappointed. It looked nothing at all like the room I saw on line. It was pretty much a white box with zero character and no microwave. I went back to the front desk to express my disappointment. They apologized and told me the room shown on line was on the third floor and the third floor was not open yet. *The photos showing the Gilded King might seem to be a bate and switch since those rooms aren't open yet Corporate needs to change those photos till those rooms are open. I was offered to be moved to another room that at least had a view. We were moved to a Timeless Room over looking the street with the lights strung down it. They brought us a microwave on a cart from the kitchen. We also got a bottle of Prosecco brought to us. After settling in we went for a walk around the hotel for photos. One of the young men I think Hayden was his name took us on a tour of parts of the hotel. We saw the original offices of the brothers who owned the Coke Bottling Plant. We also got to see some other rooms and some areas not quite done yet. It was freezing outside but we walked around and looked in the windows of the not quite ready Garage. It is going to be a food court / retail. Also food and retail in the first floor of the hotel not quite ready. Our room had a very interesting layout with exposed brick. The shower was enormous and the gold trim around the tile was beautiful. I loved the blackout shades. Every hotel should have blackout shades. Bed was very comfortable but the pillows sucked. The covers they use ( I understand the need ) were very stiff and reminded me of a cover you would put in a baby bed to prevent liquid penetrating the mattress. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner watching the enormous TV. CromeCast was a super addition. We were able to watch Netflix, Disney+ and Acorn TV using my cell phone. Rooms have a mini bar which actually take up precious space in the fridge. They have local snacks for sale in the room we did not partake of. Every room has an umbrella that I kinda wanted to take home, but I found out they charge 25$ for them so I left it. Super nice Hotel and will be a total destination once everything is open. They need to cut back on the Abercrombie and Fitch smell they have flowing thru the halls. Thankfully it wasn't that strong in the room. Hopefully by mid year all construction will be done and we will be on the down...
Read moreI was really excited for the bottle works when I heard about it. My wife and I were finally able to get there yesterday. Unfortunately, it is exactly what I expected...
Essentially, it is an overpriced hipster food court. I don't think any of the places would be able to survive as a small stand alone place at the prices they ask. The atmosphere and variety is the draw.
As for the food, I can only speak on my experience with one specific place. We went to the Gouchos stall for the 'authentic Brazilian Street food' I had their food truck before. My wife is Brazilian and pregnant and has been craving Pastel.
For 'authentic street food'... The only thing they have that I recognize as street food (Sao Paulo state area) is pastel. But at less than 1/2 the size and 3x the price you would find there. My wife said the flavor was ok but the dough was not right.
A huge abscense for Brazilian street food is Coxinha. Esfiha, pamonha, crape de pĂŁo de queijo, and a few other things would be great as well but Coxinha is one of those things you find everywhere in Brazil.
The sandwiches and fries appear to be the same as the food truck. And I have seen similar sandwiches in Brazil. But the food truck was way better than the sandwiches we had yesterday. Chicken was dry. It and the steak were lacking seasoning. Both seemed to have been pre cooked, left in a pan, then warmed back up before serving. Mine was not warmed well through. She says the same about hers. She says she is pretty sure the steak is not picanha like the menu says. (Common mistake in the US)
Not going to write off the whole bottle works from one so so experience. Couple other places do have some interesting items. But the prices and baby coming very soon will certainly keep us from visiting again for awhile.
I have zero expectation that my review will change anything. If you have the money to burn and like food adventures, it's worth checking out. I wish the whole complex luck. Not everyone will be able to afford to go. But those who can't really aren't...
Read morePretty simple review here: WOW. This hotel, the concept behind it, the location & above all else the guest service team is beyond 5 Stars.
I had the privilege to stay here for several nights over the 2020 holidays. Although it is a time many are not traveling the fiancĂŠ & I drove cross country to see some family and friends and made the Bottleworks hotel our base camp.
From the moment we checked in with the attentive valets to the front desk staff showing us to the elevator to the incredibly kind welcome treat from the guest services team - my jaw kept on dropping.
The room is spacious, with a large closet, dresser, king bed, sitting area and desk. The TV has a chrome cast which was great for us when staying for awhile. The fridge is stocked with some well known and local favorites and the in room coffee is always appreciated. The bathroom however was the star for me. The aesthetics alone had me so excited. But the magnifying mirror and the softest hotel towels & rob Iâve ever touched were 10/10.
The hotel has history. Itâs new. Itâs exciting. This place is a must for anyone looking for something unique!
Other notes: small breakfast & dinner in room dining menu, temp bar in the lobby until the main one opens, gym on the basement floor with precor equipment amongst other items. Lots of conference rooms to be used in the future and really neat photos of what the building and rooms used to look like before they...
