Thai Recipes was a go to restaurant for me for awhile. After my visit this past Sunday, Thai Recipes seems to have gone down drastically in taste/quality and the amount of food you get for the price you pay was disturbing.

First and foremost, the quantity you get for the appetizers was disappointing. In one Thai Chicken Wings order, we received 5 small wings for $8. On top of that, the wings were just fried and served with Siracha sauce. The other appetizer we ordered was the Sun Dried Beef. The order included 5 small, tough pieces of beef for $7. Truly disappointed.

Secondly, the quality of the two dishes we ordered for dinner was amateur. The basil fried rice we ordered (added basil and lemongrass) was very clumpy and soggy. When we ordered this dish in the past, the fried rice was outstanding. It almost seemed like each grain of rice was cooked piece by piece. The other dish we ordered was the Pad See Ew. The beef was very dry and the noodles were sour.

Thai recipes used to be a go to Thai restaurant for me because Thai Spice went down in quality. Unfortunately, Thai Recipes has...

My 1st time eating Thai Food ever in 30+ yrs of my life, surprise to me.. food was a lot better than anticipated. Even with our Large Group of 16 people we had awesome service, staff was great, everyone was able to share and enjoy all the food. Since I haven't ate Thai Food before, I was very hesitant when it came to trying/eating new foods I've never had before. That being said, after looking over the entire menu I decided I was gonna go simple, as if I were a kid still. Staff was very understanding and they said, "Not a problem ma'am, whatever you want from any part of the menu is 100% okay!" I was able to order from The 10 years of age and under Kids Menu. I was shocked cause most places will not let an adult order from kids menu. That was the wonderful thing about this place! Even My daughter, 7 1/2 yrs old, surprisingly she loved the food! Servers only get paid by tips according to manager.

We were informed of this when she noticed we didn't write a tip on the credit card reciept. (Sometimes we prefer to leave cash instead of our card.)

My husband had already returned to our table where I was still packaging my leftovers. She followed him to point out that he didn't write in a tip. We stared at her for moment because it was very awkward. Then she continued by pleading for us to please leave a tip on the card because the girls work for tips only and that's how they get paid.

It was very awkward. I felt very uncomfortable and embarassed because the restaurant is a very small area so I felt put on the spot. Awful experience.

Food was good. Service was okay because they were short staffed having only 2 servers for all their tables. We waited over 20 minutes for the food from the time we ordered. and only got 2 refills for the hour...

This was a nice stop on a road trip from WI to KY. The restaurant is pretty easy access off the highway. The goods: the food was authentic and made with good ingredients. The place is clean. I enjoyed the soup and the spring roll a lot. The bubble tea was great. The bads: I’ve eaten a lot of Thai and never before said “I wish that had a little more flavor” for my main dish (garlic). The masaman curry was also a bit too sweet- but again not bad just different. Perhaps that is the style here- so to each their own but I wanted “more”. The only true bad was the mango sticky rice- it didn’t taste right at all- and it should be pretty straight forward. There was some kind of coconut crème poured all over it (and not the normal sweet cream). It also cost as much as a lunch entree at $8. Either way your experience may vary and there is nothing wrong with the place- just not my style of Thai I suppose.

I suggested, and came to Thai Recipes with some coworkers based on the glowing reviews this place has. In summary, we were disappointed by the food. Both dishes looked great but neither of our dishes were seasoned - quite bland for Thailand's bold and flavorful cuisine. I'm hoping this was an "off day" or a fluke. A coworker and I who like to try new things decided to split our orders of the Drunken Noodles and Fried Tilapia w/ Rad Prik sauce. The fried tilapia was the biggest disappointment - it was cooked well but the Rad Prik sauce had no flavor. The service was good and the place was clean, no complaints there. I'd be willing to try it again and give them a second chance, but I can't say I'm going to make it a priority.
