Jalapeño’s Mexican Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ingleside

Visiting from out of town, wanted a quick bite to eat. Walked in and we were greeted immediately and told we could sit anywhere. Tables in the main dining area were filthy! We were told to go to the back area, where those tables were filthy as well!! We found 1 table that did not have dirty dishes and food all over it. We ordered 2 margaritas and our food. Drinks came quickly, they tasted like pure triple sec!! We stirred them and waited for our food. Waitress brought us our food and never checked on us again. I look over and she's sitting in a booth talking with another server. After about 15mins I ask another server if she could get her. We wanted another drink, but made differently. I watched the 2nd server, who seemed annoyed that I asked for her help, go clean 2 tables, and go to the back BEFORE going to our actual server. Finally she comes to our table, we say we would like 2 more drinks. But before my daughter could request they be made a certain way she walked off. She returns with them and we ask for the check. She never returns with our check, she SITS BACK DOWN!! We try our 2nd margarita and it was absolutely horrible!!! We got up and went to the counter. All of a sudden she was up and ready!! I told her the drinks were horrible and they were still full on the table and we would not be paying for them. She gets upset and walks off, I hear her calling a guy from the drive through window. She's speaking to him in Spanish, and is clearly upset. Continues to look at me, point to where we were sitting and the little I picked up was upset that I refused to pay for the drinks. He did remove them and proceeded to tell me my total without giving me an actual printout... I told him I wanted to see it before I paid. He then gets upset, hits a few more buttons and gives me a printout. I look it over, and pay. I STILL TIPPED 15%... Service was horrible, drinks were horrible, water was disgusting, establishment was disgusting. We should have just left, but we read they were good. It was veryyyyy disappointing because it's right by our hotel amd we were looking forward to getting breakfast there! We definitely...

Tried the drive-thru at this restaurant. First off the menu, has an array of dishes which do not fit into the "authentic Mexican" food category. Its kind of a confusing menu and the food is more American style than anything else. I stared at it for a while confused by the items but decided to try it out anyway. As we proceeded to the window to place order the attendant took about 10 minutes to even greet us. He was a nice young man and we placed our order. I specifically asked for no sauce or cheese on my chicken fajita burrito and also to add rice and beans to my plate. My girlfriend ordered the chicken enchiladas plate. It took.about 15 minutes or so and they finally decided to give us our to-go drinks and about another 5 min came out the food in a tied plastic bag, we asked for extra napkins and proper plastic utensils and the woman said it was in the bag so we drove off to the park to enjoy our meal. Upon opening my container I noticed the "burrito" completely covered it in canned enchilada sauce and a mountain of cheddar cheese and no beans or rice were present as i had ordered. My girlfriends plate had rice and beans and 4 corn tortillas slightly rolled around mushy strands of boiled pulled chicken and was smothered in canned enchilada sauce with excessive amount of cheddar cheese shreds completely engulfing her "enchiladas". I looked for a plastic knife but it was not included so i had to try to cut into my "burrito " with a plastic fork. I noticed it was stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, unidentifiable and curdled white cheese like substance and a few pieces of a gamey tasting overmarinated chicken breast. Needless to say it was pretty disgusting and inedible. My girlfriends plate wad equally disgusting and the beans and rice were unappealing to say the least. We both only tasted less than 1/4 of our food and threw the rest away. Within 5 hours we both had stomach cramps and the following day we both had diarrhea. All right this one hurts my heart to write. This is a place I have been to15? times and in addition to the driver thru. I have bragged it up and recommended to so many others from out of town. Let me tell you tonight gave me a change of heart. I was threatened to have the POLICE called on me for not paying for what I did not eat ANY of the FAJITAS Parrilladas and WATER. The order arrived I asked for the manager TWICE, and the 7ft giant that came to the table told me the manager was not available but he was in charge. I explained my issue as it looked like ground dog food again I ate NOTHING. He then OFFERED to get me STRIPS of meat they had to chop it that fine to COOK it COMPLETELY.. At first he tried to tell me fajitas meant only "meat". I simply pointed to the wall and asked if that is what my plate looked like. We also added shrimp to the order. Well guess what? NO SHRIMP. our waitress said they "forgot the shrimp". a few minutes later another waiter brought out these pathetic looking cocktail size shrimp that I already told them I did not want any longer as I did not want a piece meal order. I declined those as well in front of the 7ft giant. He at this point was still unapologetic. Again I ate nothing, he insisted they were going to call the POLICE and they were in route because we had to pay for the order that what we did not eat of ANYTHING from. I Told them good luck, and the other party with us paid their bill and we left. Side note it took 30 minutes with 4 other tables in the restaurant to receive our order. Worst part is my 12yr old went hungry until we got home. The included pictures with my phone sadly makes it look better then what it was. I rarely bother to write reviews. It has to be pretty stellar or AWFUL to have me waste my time. I invite the owner or the real manager to reach out. This was truly a disgrace for this once great restaurant tonight....
